    Really love this video, it really help me get a look into a career I'm considering. I'm coming from corporate, and don't think I can handle the competitive and hustly culture of it anymore. Finally going in the medical field like my mom told me to, years before I join corporate.

      Hi there! I'm about to graduate with an A.S. from a community college and I can say the ability to graduate with minimal loans (if any) is the biggest plus to community college. There are so many great programs out there! In my area, you need the associates from an xray program, then you can take the xray registry/boards, then from there you can move into other modalities like CT & MRI. You just need some training, you'll have to get signed off on comps, then you can take a boards & get certified in that modality. Hope this helps!

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  9 місяців тому +3

      I went to a community college for their 21-month Radiologic Technology program. After graduation and taking radiography boards, I found a job that allowed me to cross train into CT and MRI. I did all of my didactic credits through ASRT

    How long did it take you after school to get trained in CT and MRI? I am looking into radiology because I think there is more growth opportunity, I don't want to be stuck in just one thing. My other choice is Sonography. I am having a difficult time deciding! This video was awesome and so helpful!

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  3 місяці тому +3

      CT took about 6 months & MRI took about 9 months to become fully registered! Sonography is a great modality too! The one part of sonography that turned me away was the fact they have to know soooo many different pathologies, diseases, etc. The sonographer I work with has to write up a tech sheet to give to the Radiologist basically diagnosing what they scanned! It's a lot of liability 😅 it's such a great field though!

      @@QuellArionim not a lpn but a medical /med tech at a assisted living . But the amount of work delegates to me because our nurse was terrible at her job had me stressed that I no longer want to do lpn but radiology or surgical technologist. From passing meds, ordering med , med errors correction , resident pissed there not getting their meds because the insurance sucks . Dealing with hospice , residents dying on you , hospice not answering your call when a patient is actively passing, cna not coming and having to work the floor and pass meds. Lifting enormous resident and changing them yourself . Its just to much especially 1:33 ratio or even 45 sometimes and thats legal , No thanks Im good.

      @@Iamanicajean omggg that’s horrible ! What about them when they knew what they were doing? Did they seem stressed and unhappy? 🙁 & I know I want to help others I just don’t know exactly what. If healthcare isn’t my calling tech definitely will be. Dental hygiene pays well but you have to do dental assisting and then that. More debt I occur🤦🏾‍♀️.

    As MRI tech how many days throughout the week are you required to work? And are your hours always the same?

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  26 днів тому

      That's completely subjective to where you work! Some people work PRN (as needed), some are full time, and some are part time.
      Personally, my hours are always the same, but I know MR techs where their shift changes all the time

      totally depends on the scanner - usually breath holds are 20-30 seconds if the patient can tolerate it

    Question , can having a ct scan cause your body to feel sensitive? Or it can it change your energy? Is it a high risk procedure? Then didnt add any protective gear they only gave me a padded pillow looking thing to put over my breast.

    • @JuliaKristine
      @JuliaKristine  8 місяців тому

      No! It's a safe procedure.
      I'm not quite sure what you're referencing in regard to 'changing your energy'? It's not common practice to shield in imaging anymore, especially not CT. Every facility has different guidelines, though

    I would just be aware of the long term exposure to radiation. CT scans specifically emit X-rays. Even though there’s protective measures in place, some of the radiation will absorbed by the people working there.
