Atitlan Lake, Guatemala, and drive back to the airport in Guatemala City

This was our last stop on your Guatemala road trip itinerary -- Lake Atitlan.
We did a 9-day road trip in Guatemala, and it was so much better than we ever expected it to be. Renting and driving a car might not be for everyone, and doing so much in such a short period of time will get you tired (just look at my face), but it was worth it.
As I look back at this trip, I am so happy I did it, and I hope you are inspired to visit Guatemala because it's worth it.
Many visitors to Guatemala plan to visit Antigua and Lake Atitlan. The lake is huge, surrounded by huge volcanos and gorgeous small towns and villages. But we didn't have much to explore in any of the towns around it.
At this point, we had already seen and explored so much of the country that it didn't feel like a loss, and I was happy with my decision. It's worth mentioning that the towns around the lake are super touristy, and the prices match the demand.
The purpose of this video is to show you what's like to plan a trip in Guatemala on your own, what to expect and what these popular locations actually look like.
By the way, driving around the lake was by far the most heart-pounding experience of my life, and that's after driving all across Guatemala. Only do this if you are experienced in mountainous places and very experienced in handling narrow roads and chaotic driving.
