This thing is admittedly huge, and a lot of fun to play with but its also crazy expensive and really difficult to pilot because of the shape and poor controls. I would love to see a company that actually makes quality quadcopters make a falcon, but for now this is what we get.

there are 2 reasons why the cockpit isn't in the center the behind the scenes reasons is George liked it better the cannon reason is that the Prongs at the front of the falcon can be used to move large cargo containers kinda like a Giant fork lift
Also they had to put it together in one day and it was left over from another design for it, which became the Tantive IV.
Also it is a modified YT1300, It has been mentioned it is heavily modded, Normal YT1300 have the cockpit in the front but the falcon doesn't because Han And chewie changed it cause idk
I bought one for $89. at target on closeout... there is a video for this drone where you have to calibrate it without the blade covers over the blades and must be done on level ground. right out of the box... it will fly like crap... as I learned. but yeah once calibrated... it's all gravy!! ^_^
ok question, why does eveyone go for the belly gun. in a dog fight the flcon's top gun is much better option since its size allows it to stay lower to its cover and as such the belly gun wouldnt get very good accuracy heck the newest movie SHOWS this with finn struggling to get decent shots off nd having to basically spray and pray. also like everyone else has said the yt-1300 light freighter is originally a well freighter and ignoring the multiple different configurations it had originally (there is a version with a centered cockpit) the falcon was ordered as a freighter for large cargo movement. and long story short it was stolen three to four times before hn and chewie got it, it was used in the military for a short time hence its illegal military grade armor plating (appearances are decieving, han and chewie roughed up the ship on purpose to disguise the armor to prevent theft)and cannons. anyone got any other questions???
i have a feeling this toy will be canabalized for its body.

this thing work by the look of it far better than the call of duty black ops 2 quad copter you get with the prestige pack that one was a super dumb in the sence of it was almost not controllable and the cost about 130 euro's so this guy is a huge better option and the connection was even worse it sometimes even looses connection when the quad copter runs out....

Airhogs has always been really good at making really crappy and disappointing toys that are had to control and impossible to trim. From the start of the video I was very disappointed to see the airhogs logo next to the star wars licensing. Itd be much better to cut your own styrofoam shell and put it on a 300 dollar quad copter that's actually worth a crap.
look I know this thing is cool but for $300 you can get an entire FPV (first person view) drone, transmitter (controller), screen or cheap goggles (to see where you are going) and fly a crazy ass machine at 50+ mph. Or for about the same amount or maybe $150 if you don't need video you can buy a micro drone for indoors called an Inductrix and you can do FPV with it later and it's totally safe indoors and does acrobatics.
All these people giving historic facts on the Falcon but no one is bitching about the cost? Come on guys... $300 bucks will buy you a really nice quad,that thing is nothing more than a marketing scheme ment to take your money. There is no way on this planet I would pay $300 for that. I spent that much for a Ready to fly Apprentice airplane,complete with everything for that,and it actually flys really really great. It got me back into the hobby. Now I own 6 different types of aircraft,including helicopters,quads and several types of planes.Most of them I paid less than that for them,and they are all really great!

the smaller version flies extremely well and is pretty much indestructible. it has all the sounds and features as well. bought mine for $59 @ walmart
Best Buy has them for $169.00. Air Hogs makes a couple smaller versions of this.
I mean, the cockpit's really only on the side because it looks cool (like how the scope on Han Solo's DL-44 is on the wrong side), but they later came up with the explanation that it carries cargo in the center.

Take that foam body and put it on a DJI 450 frame...NOW you have a winner.

The cockpit is on the side because the Millennium Falcon carries cargo with the fork shape in the middle. The pilot needs an unobstructed view of one side and the dish on the other side is to see the other side.
Get the AR Drone 2. It's easy to fly and responds good to the controls.
just bought this at Sam's Club for $ 99 dollars! yes is only $99 dollars! alot of people were buying them! I want one but before it sell for $300+tax was too much for me!

I don't dude, can't you get your Falcon fix from the regular size one for around $100 ? I think Air Hogs has a smaller and cheaper, than regular size Falcon that is even more crappy.
I knew it wouldn't fly very well as soon as I saw "Air Hogs" on the box. No camera and a crappy remote for $300? Rip off..
Air Hogs/New Bright.... Every device they make is garbage, in my experience. I've never NOT experienced an Air Hogs/New Bright product that was worth any money at all. I'd recommend everyone stay clear of ALL of their RC vehicles. Unless you like paying for complete and utter frustration and disappointment, anyway. I honestly don't know how they stay in business or even get opportunities like building the Falcon in the first place. Just awful.
I received the little Air Hogs Falcon for Christmas and it is light years superior to the large one. Though inside only, It goes 50 feet easily from the remote, durable, usually syncs to the remote the first time and is responsive to the controls. It is a tricky ship to fly though, It is not aerodynamic in the least and if you do not pay attention at all times tends to want to wander off on its own but after a few days of playing with it, you get more comfortable with its quirks and its a fun way to spend 10 minutes. Also the draft from those engines is powerful enough to knock any little helicopter right out of the air if you fly over it so I can have some fun with my boys as well.
BTW if you REALLY want a big one, Target has them on clearance. I have seen them down to $149 so far.
trim to the right and when ready to fly go up and down with the left stick and one more thing it is inferred so it can't fly in sun or even artificial light so it has to be flown inside
I believe the problem is not in the drone...but the gimbels...they sit loose in mine from side to side ..left stick and left to right on the right stick. They should sit up tight as the other axes do ..check yours to see if it's the same.
Mine runs when pushed in on both sticks right bank and left turn.
Fix that and I bet flight characteristics will be much better

The reason it sucks is because it's made by AirHogs, every product I've gotten from them has broke on the first day, AirHogs has pour quality control and isn't worth anything, If your thinking about buying this don't buy a real drone

actual I live In the US and its very very poor where I live, I once bought a copter for 50$ and the propellers were already broke and after charging it wouldn't turn on

The Falcon's cockpit is on the side because it is a modified cargo pushing ship.

the problem is its size. the micro millennium falcon flies surprisingly well for Air hogs. its really well made but the XL is just too big to support it so it drifts and gets away from you constantly. sad.
The videos for the Enterprise A 50th anniversary flies very nicely and is only $139
I have to admit, when I saw this in your Force Friday video, I thought it was a Lego product until I saw the Air Hogs logo.

For 300 dollars u can get a Dji professional and even capture nice views and you said in the vid that not as expensive as a Dji drone you are right but u can probably get a Dji phantom 3 for like 400 or 350 or maybe 300 usd

Check if you can fit tarantula x6 props in there, then get an X6 FC board, motors, motor mounts, and TX.(they are cheap)
That frame looks like a wltoys v666 frame. I'm sure it is possible to do, "IF" you can fit the props. It will be a beast if you can make the transplant.

Is it infrared controlled? I wouldn't touch it just for that alone! For $300 they couldn't put a proper transmitter receiver in it? Just shows what people rip you off for
I can tell by the remote it probably junk, I own about 20 quads and a few have the same remote but I payed under $50 for them and have stability issues with drift and range. For the $300 asking price you can get a pretty good quad, But the Millennium Falcon factor is so cool.

Air hogs done it again! They managed to make a $30 toy, slap a brand on it and dirt cheap foam, then sell it at $300! Oh and can you get replacement parts for that garbage or at least take it apart to fix it? Air hogs responce- hell no, just buy a new one! Thanks air hogs!

is it running on 2.4ghz? or is it infra red? if it is infra red, that might explain the spotty connection.

I would charge it for 3-4 hours my small quadcopter takes about 2 hours to charge and that only gives it 5 minutes of flight time so yeah

I've heard nothing but bad things about this product. Basically unflyable. I hear the $100 air hogs falcon quad is much better, but if you want to invest in a SW themed quad, best bet is to go with the Propel battle quad series that just came out (around $200). They're much better built, use higher quality materials, and the packaging/presentation is top notch. Also come with spare parts etc. There is a Falcon version expected to come out later on in 2017, but for now you can get the X-wing, Tie Adv., or Speeder bike. They also have built in lasers and can battle each other, but no camera.
I have the smaller cheaper one for $50 bucks. I'd say it's much more worth it to buy the cheaper one. the flight time sucks though, 10 mins!
I've heard the small one is actually fun to fly.

Either air hogs does not care about their reputation, or they had to pay a ton of cash for the rights. Quadcopters that cost less than $100 have more features than that one. It almost looks like they slapped that body onto a syma xo-1 frame. It looks underpowered as well. I wonder if they even added weight to the back to balance it out since the shape of the ship would naturally make the quad nose heavy.

Wow, I get that star wars brand adds a good bit to the price to it, but I think people are better off getting a used dji Phantom 3 or something similar. at least for the people who want to play with a quad copter.

You know, the small one was actually a pretty decent flyer - can't figure out how they screwed this up so badly -was it the barometric pressure sensor? Does it only fly decent at sea level? Every review shows these things going everywhere except where they're supposed to. Lame.

I got the smaller version of this for Christmas, it costs 30$ CA, this thing isn't event 10 times the size, so it shouldn't cost 300$ American, that's an extra 30%CA so 390$. Not worth it to me

Not just foam... although Airhogs uses crappy Styrofoam, many hobby grade (dare I say most) airplanes are foam, but they use toy grade parts and overall are a low quality for the price. Horizon hobby products are much better (hobby grade) and often in the same price range.

You shouldn't be flying it where there are towers or airplanes in the first place. If you find yourself at a live airfield / airport flying one, you'll soon find yourself sitting in a police car... It's restricted airspace so try not to fly in those areas for safety reasons.
Put your money in stocks and shares dude and you can buy the real one in a few months. Some guy in Chinas laughing his head off because people are buying this shite.

Airhog flying toys are stupid expensive for what they are and how good they fly. Money would be better spent on a Hobby grade quad.
what we need is a cheap plastic falcon shell that fits on any quad.

this thing sucks does nt fly there have been so many of these return that I heard that air hogs is going to pull it off the shelf and for 300.00 no wondering .The main problem was that the motor was way way to small to fly something this big
I have (from the same line) the Speeder Bike, and the second it leaves the ground, it immediately *heavily* leans to the right. I replaced it once, and after having identical play, returned it ASAP. To have an out-of-the-box experience where you're indoors and STILL have to fight for it to simply hover - Let alone fly straight - It's just overpriced garbage. Air Hogs has made some cool toys for years, but the Star Wars line seems to be consistently way overpriced with extremely poor performance.

Well, it really doesn't respond to anything. Trim is nothing. perhaps needs more power. If anyone wants I'll cut mine open and mod as requested. Wouldn't mind doing that as i got it from a return for 50 bucks or less. Got all the Star Wars stuff from a discount house for about 100 bucks. The Tie Fighter is pretty cool to fly (of the batch I got). None fly for long and this this is a dog - does look awesome though. Ideas?.
It must be a problem unique to your Falcon, because mine flies excellently.
