Lore behind Strogg is limited, but that's what we know so far - originally Strogg were just normal species, in same manner humans are, but their excessive industrialization left their planet almost devoid of life. In attempt to avoid death from pollution, they began changing themselves with cybernetic implants, to absolutely insane degree. Eventually, birth rates dropped to zero, and their leader declared essentially war on universe - to keep Strogg alive, they would harvest biomass of entire planets. I did play Quake Wars, it's kind of like Battlefield - 5 classes from each side, armored vehicles, aircraft, objectives to hack/destroy, side objectives.
@@JadziaFil some form of a slipgate that runs on a specific fuel(energy source, etc). A fuel that doesnt exist in the quake universe, leaving them trapped, combing the universe for such a fuel. Just a theory tho
So multiplayer devs are wondering why their games are flopping...and they haven't though of making a Enemy Territory: Quake Wars 2...the universe and invasion time period are literally MADE for a faction vs. faction mass scale mp shooter. The first one was limited heavily by it's era (and not exactly the greatest map designs and performance issues), but with today's tech...could be something truly spectacular and the Quake name would sell it by itself.
I didn't realize there was this much lore in Quake, but it is funny how similar the story is to Half-Life. It also reminds me of how using the Tesseract in the MCU "announced to the universe that humanity was ready for a higher kind of war".
I remember when I played Enemy Terrritory: Quake Wars, a long time ago, and as with most of these online games, I missed the opportunity to play when it was live. Living in Brazil, I didn't have true internet to play games until adulthood, and do I played it offline with bots. Even so, I had a lot of fun playing alone in all maps, imagining how it would be playing it with a bunch of people. The game had potential, and to this day, when I'm at work, watching the seconds to clocking out, I still say in the voice of the human announcer "thirty seconds" even so only I get the reference.
I love the Quake series! Thank you for uploading this. Looking at the onset of the Strogg conflict, it seems to me that our civilization had just reached Level 1 on the Kardashev scale during the 2060's, while the Strogg had been at Level 1 for quite some time before discovering our presence. Maybe even at the cusp of reaching Level 2. Even playing through Quake 4, the Strogg were depicted as having a noticable technological advantage, but we had two strengths they lacked: Adaptability and access to more untapped resources. In my opinion, those factors were key to our eventual victory.
the invasion of Stroggos was BRUTAL. It was a death world meat grinder loaded with killer cyborgs that would use your dead body to make more troopers or soup they would eat.
Well crafted video!! Ur knowledge is unmatchable about the lore. And your Thumbnails are always so expressive. Can't resist watching your vid. Keep it going

In my head-canon... Stroggos was a peaceful Earth-like world. Shub-Niggurath invades and a prolonged war ensues. The Strogg in a last desperate attempt mechanize and undergo Stroggification in order to fight back. The Strogg emerge victorious and cast Shub's forces off their world. Which, has been bled dry after how many years or decades of war. The Strogg venture into the Dreamlands to continue the fight. Hence why we see Strogg supply crates in Quake 1. The Dreamlands are decimated and the war enters a stalemate. The Strogg are stretched too thin and forced to retreat. However, they will return to finish the job. In order to replenish troop numbers. The Strogg invade many worlds including Earth for live bodies and other resources.
Ik the strogg storyline isnt the most popular amongst quake fans but quake 2/4 are two of my favorite games and the storyline ia one of my favorites along with the half life story
The Strogg invasion of Earth is fascinating, my own speculation is that the Strogg were chiefly interested in the original slipgate complex from Quake 1, which would explain their invasion of Texas. I was going to mod the war on Earth as a strategy game although I could not complete that I managed to bring several of the vehicles to star alongside Quake 2 and Quake 4 models.

The guys that make these games clearly don't realise the military capability of the major militaries in our world, because the lore is just absurd, this is the same with the Half Life combine as well, we are expected to believe they defeated earth's armies, yet they are flying around in these comically slow dropships and their units are totally pathetic (and any modern military would destroy them). I think some video game creator needs to make a more realistic technological alien species, than mechanical bug creations that fly around and walk around, it's not believable that these could overthrow the world's militaries. I get that making it realistic might make it more boring and affect the gameplay negatively however, since you can't be running around making a big difference as a single man in a truly realistic setting, so they need to lower the realism so yourself running around and shooting silly robot men running around makes a big difference. This is why the only video games that can be fun, but also feel believable, are fantasy setting games, where the lore of the world is that humanity isn't that advanced, therefore monsters and such have to be defeated by swords and other things and it is believable that such a monster is quite the foe. But games that are more like science fiction horror and have some monster that you can shoot point blank in the head with a large calibre gun, and it doesn't do anything to it, that just is impossibly unrealistic and feels stupid quite frankly.
