Stay tuned for episode 2 where we spend the summer in the San Juan Islands before sailing down the west coast to Channel Islands.
We are currently in San Diego getting ready to cross the boarder and spend the winter in Baja chasing perfect right hand point breaks!

Love your Gung ho get it done attitude !!! I pretty much done the same thing as u guys around 15 years ago, Bought a 30 foot diesel cruiser on a whim , had no experience at all but learned through mistakes and my kids had Great adventures here in the UK out at Sea all summer !!! I'm nearly 50 now and my advice to young people is take the chance and have no regrets ! Your an inspiration guys keep it up and I'm subbed 👍
The sailing ⛵️ community is some of the friendliest and helpful people you will ever meet.
You got that right 😎
That's what I fell in love about sailing
...the peeps!!!😜
Great tunes while repairing the boat leads to great Karma
What an amazing difference between myself (as I 'update my 18 mtr steel cruiser) and these guys. I heard no stressed swearing, no cursing of the boats or the weather gods, and witness no hurling of tools into the ocean. They sound like a great bunch of guys to be around. Well done maties!
You should do a video on your boat updates.
Insane amount of work , I hope you get years of joy from your boat ✨
Thanks for sharing
OMG YES!! We need more sailing channels like this!!
Yo yo, yep cats are definitely the way to go!... Thought you might be interested in a 20ft catamaran I'm building near Sydney Australia... ua-cam.com/video/lHIIsAi3Sf0/v-deo.html Cheers, Aaron
Dude John was the man! He gave you so much stuff!
Absolutely. Nicest guy!!
I hope you drag him out for a sail
Congratulations on your new cat!
Looks like you're really cutting out all the rot. Love your enthusiasm and energy - keep going hard and get out splashing before the boatyard blues set in!
Great economising with the boom truck - I once stepped my mast with ropes under a bridge... LoL!
Thank you for sharing your adventures.
Brian, Sydney, Top Hat 25'
At first glance 6K looked like a good deal for the boat. Yet, after we see how rotten the boat is, hmmm they should have gave it to you. No matter that, I like seeing all the passion you guys have for the project, and doing what it took to make her Sea Worthy... Best Wishes! Carry on!
Right off the bat I'm subbing for the never ending summer vibes oozing from this
Lesson for anyone watching,
When buying a boat, bring a small padded hammer, or mallet to check the density of any material, fiberglass or wood.
Better yet, bring along someone who knows something about boats - like a marine surveyor!
@@jwillar6173 That's a great idea, but I wouldn't pay for a survey on every boat I look at, that's a waste - Insurance companies usually require a survey, so it's common practice to make a purchase offer conditional to the results of a survey (basically covering the new owners ass to make sure they can get insurance). I see what you're saying, but not exactly relevant when going to check out yard boats...
@@jo3ywils0n39 I certainly would take a marine surveyor along to look at a wooden boat that’s been sitting outside in someone’s yard in Washington for 10 years. A few hundred dollars that a survey would cost, could sure be a deal breaker and save me the $6,000.00 for buying nothing more than firewood.
Don't forget to wear your masks when cutting and sanding, that's some nasty shit to be inhaling.
Maybe 600$ would have been a more realistic price to pay for her well done guys on the hard work and dedication put in , boat work is never easy
Hahah ya if we would have done more investigating before hand I don’t think we would have even bought it, so I have to say I’m glad we were just dumb enough to take it on. Ended up being one of the greatest experiences of my stupid little life! Excited to say I have recently bought another 30 foot cat and this one is pretty much all fiberglass wooooo!!!!!!! New episodes coming soon :)
hahahaaa, brilliant, takig of the tape off the side by rolling it up turning the head hahaha, best joke ever :-D working the most efficient ever possible. The result is great, congrats on renovating the rig !!!
I couldn’t stop laughing. Yes, I’m following.
Hahaha thanks
I have built three boats, and the problems I see with plywood, and coldmolded boats are built into them the day that they are built. After WW 11 my uncle, and dad worked for Huckins Yachet Corperation. The company built PT boats for the war then after the war they made the Fairform Flyer Yachet. They didn't have epoxie, but they used a purple glue that they had to keep refrigerated. The wood was Hondurin Mahogany, and it was 2 layers that were laid double diagonal total of five eights thick. Many of these boats are still ariound today.
You are 100% correct and that glue was rescourcinol. I would go long diagonal two layers only all is revealed and all can be fixed.
First, are you from the future? Second, how bad were ww3 thru 10?
@@mwcinci 🤣🤣🤣
coldmolded?
I'm dropping a G'day so you know I was watching from the beginning!!!
i love the teamwork. great music ,and the American free soul, that's the dream
Wow - so educational, inspiring and entertaining! I love your technical skills, your positive energy and your humour. Thank you guys!
subbed. idk why it was so funny but when he says thats a good piece of wood lol
Nice cat, you will have many happy adventures, look forward to joining you on your journey
bro you can't just invite urself on their journey like that.
The best investment is a survey by a reputable marine surveyor the cost would have been well worth it. They should have been paid to haul it away not paid 6 grand for it.
Just a thought from a guy who has purchased and repaired several sailboats and saved money by a second set of unbiased party.
Just a thought
I am a woodworker and getting those pieces at 20:32 either took a lot of skill or even more trial and error. My hat is off to you guys.
Hey I really appreciate that, I was proud of how most of that turned out, certainly the biggest boat project I have ever taken on. Had we known how rotten that whole boat was before buying it I don’t think we would have. Thank god for pure ignorance I don’t regret a thing! Ps I finally bought another catamaran and this one has almost no wood!!!! New episodes coming soon
Definitely not the typical refit. Not for the faint of heart. Fair winds.
Holy hell it’s real. I’m so glad you made this and it’s up for the world to see 🙏👁️🙏 bless you
i love this type of videos, u guys are truly a good vibe,, really hope to see more
Well done you two, and we’ll fixed too. Looking forward to the next video!
Have just picked you guys up fantastic ...have been watching Parlay Revial for 9 months now love watching people recycling older or damage boats good luck guys will follow.
Thank you! Stay tuned, it’s gonna be a fun journey!!!
The new word is "upcycle". These guys upcycled a "time cultivated" boat!!!
You guys are awesome! So excited for you that you are following your dream!! Enjoy every moment!!
Top notch tunes boys. Looking forward to following along.
Cheers
The drums... You just rock guys! Fun to watch you 😂
Yeah, with a predominately wooden boat you're always gonna get plenty of nasty surprises . I subbed :)
Huge balls to take that on HUGE!
Initially,I said..these guys are chasing ghosts…then..you went at it like my Polish dentist…very good work
min 21 i cant watch this any longer you guys are my heros, i would never ever embark on such restoration the amount of time and money you've spent must be far greater then buying a newer boat lol. My hats off to yas. Phenomenal amount of work!
Just watched everything. Skate video vibes. Glad you guys didn’t spend too much time fussing over the boat. Honestly two months is quick considering everything you did. Excited to see where your travels take you.
Great journal of a lot of fun and lots of work, not for the faint of heart. Good luck
definitely the best music iv heard on a you tube video for a long time
Lol you guys my idol doin it how i want a cat, my surfboards and the kites🙌

liked and subscribed
I just found your channel and enjoyed this video. A friend of mine commanded the Coast Guard Cutter in Port Townsend. I've heard that there were a lot of great wooden boat people there.
Great soundtrack in the background😀
Came here to comment just that!
Agreed
Boom Fuckn boom
You guys are *EXTREMELY LUCKY* to have gotten this catamaran!
Hello from South Africa, loved the video (have subscribed) and look forward to following your journey. Also just wanted to add that I happened to like your musical choice. Can't say that for most of the sailing channels. There's one other sailing channel from Australia whose music choice is excellent. Anyway, looking forward to more of your content. (I'm going to be extremely cheeky and say it's refreshing to see "healthy looking Americans for a change and not + size one's)..😋
Don't worry the more subscribers the worse the music.. Or they get copyrighted
TOP Restauration! LIKE IT! Best sailing!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Damn boys. In it to win it.
Hahaha ya doin our best!
This was a truly inspiring project to capture and share with us! Great job on restoring it to sailable condition!
Hey! Seriously guys! You must chare the Spotify Playlist you were listening at!! The hell of a good music! Despite the amazing work you have done with the cat still the playlist is better yet. Awesome video! Good job!!
Apart frm your undying optimism and persistence, your working sound tracks compel me to be your friend
Cool! And I got to hear Larry Coryell's guitar work on "Memphis Underground," Herbie Mann's classic 1969 release again. I'm shopping for a similar deal on a tri or a cat. Glad you guys got 'er done!
Great video. A couple of buddies deciding to rebuild a cheap boat on the cheap. Not some $500K hurricane damaged boat. Look forward to the rest of the videos.
At first I'm thinking these guys don't know what they are doing but obviously you got if figured out. Bravo.
Awesome job. Just really well done. Shows team work is what matters.
Thanks! It’s going great, more videos on the way! Heading to Costa Rica next!
@@sailingwithunkorahj1665 are you guys still alive... we need more vids !!!
I love watching these videos, as it gives me hope that I can do it but then I realize I can't so now I am just a subscriber :).. Keep up the videos
You can.
I would have loved to have been there just because of the music you played all day.
inspirational video... LOVED the soundtrack.
we're also fixing up a 1976 cat... your video is the perfect antidote to feeling overwhelmed by the scope of the project
What kind is yours??
Great job guys! And you guys have a great taste is music as well.
Really enjoyed this video lads, , I’m from across the pond! 🇬🇧 new sub
Thank you!
hahahaha 2 weeks hahahaha, but even two months, i got much respect for that!!! heads off, what a work!
Now THAT was a lot of work! Nice job guys! A learning experience you'll never forget! I'll watch the rest of the vids to see how she handles.
Loved every second of this. Nice one fellas
Thanks Steve, we’re having a blast!
Subbed on your taste in music alone. Good luck boys.
Thanks!
This will be the boat that beer built. Kind of like my bus conversion. Had to replace a lot of rusty metal when I started my project. Some beer helps make the work easier. Maybe not safer but somehow easier.
I enjoyed every moment of the video. So easy and actually very calming to watch with your music choice and neration. Bloody awsome. Looking forward to following your journey 🍻🤘
Thanks David!
The music made me want to gouge my own eyes out with a burnt stick and then stuff my gouged out eyes as EAR PLUGS .but ? People are different
Well done the boys! Subbed, let's see what shannanigans you get up to.
Me too...a scruffy lot they won't be boring

You guys are thorough in your repairs.
Hey dudes. Your videos are epic! Add some more!
Brilliant job with a great narrative. Enjoy your boat and sail safely.
Congratulations...
the video was awesome and you guys were hilarious got the sub and like and will love to keep watching brothers
Great stuff guys, your laughter and attitude in the face of a challenge is very admirable. Was not a single moment I wanted to fast forward.
As owners of a ply catamaran also it’s awesome to be reminded on how everything can be fixed relatively easily. Hit us up when you finally make it across the ditch, would be keen have a few beers!
Your refit soundtrack sounds like you stole our playlist also 👌👌
I get itchy just watching the fiberglass work...nice adventure
I'm rite behind u. Had mine in Port Townsend to refurb. Now in Blaine learning to sail her with La Paz as my first goal. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of your vids.
Ahoi! Fair winds and following seas. I am sure, we will see some awesome adventures on this channel. I am delighted :)
Love this. Great music, great bros, immaculate vibes. Im looking to buy a sailboat project and get it ready over the next few years.
cool video and all the hippie tunes as well
Purchase price $6,000 + total renovation cost including transportation, labor, outfitting, electronics, safety gear - $200,000 = Acquisition cost of $206,000.
You guessed about 190k too high!
They should have paid you to remove this off the property. The amount of work watching you repair has exhausted me!! lol
New subscriber. Looking forward to y’all’s videos! I absolutely loved this video. Really made it feel like anyone could get into sailing! My dream feels like it’s in reach again!!
Go for it...I am
Keep on trucking 👍👍 really like the music
You've both are good pals man. Friends are hard to come by
This is an awesome story. There were moments where you guys may have used the power tools in a much more time saving capacity but that you figure out over time. Enjoy, and safe passages fellas.
awesome job. making the dream happen. you guys seemed to gather a few very handy friends!
My kind of channel. Good stuff.
also thanks to the reg number.. I added it to the insurance list and also boat reg good luck on resale
Looks like Port Angeles 🤙. Awesome video and boat.
What a badass project!
Loved the mumy face. : )
Welcome to the wonderful world of glass over plywood & timber. We bought 40' x 20' Hitchhiker Cat, like a Warram Cat on steroids. it cost us $50k AU to buy and we spent another $70 AU including new engines and refit. It will drive you crazy at times but when you are cruising it all makes it worth while. I have subscribed and look forward to your adventures ahead.
I love the Wharrams! I ran a Tiki 38 down in Fiji and Tonga for a little bit. I’d love to get back on a Wharram some time.
Pro Tip...get one of those cake mixer thingies from the 80s and put it in your drill to mix small batches
Surf and sail. What a concept!
My guess is Bob was trying to buy some quiet time??? just trolling you boys good luck. looking forward to seeing this ch grow.
Keep your eyes on the goal you have set. You have a lot of hard work ahead. Please don’t cut corners. Get good advice and build your dream!😀🇨🇦
I love your music playlist!
