Dave I know we didnt talk to long but talking to you and your son was one of my highlights of my trip. You were so genuinely happy for me when I showed you my Duke kahanamoku and 1952 bowman Mantle it meant the world to me. I was struck that you asked to see some of my pickups. Knowing how much you love Mantle and now for me knowing you held that card in your hand just baffles my mind. I also want to thank you for coming up to me because I was running around with my head cut off trying to meet everyone and if I would have missed meeting you I would have been so bummed out. I hope your son found some epic Pokimon cards and I absolutely love that you have passed down the passion for collecting to him. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a father and son together collecting cardboard ❤. As for your big pick up I saw that exact card and it made me stop in my tracks how good looking it was. I am so stoked for you. Take care and have an epic week 🤙🤙
Thanks for the kind words Dillion. You bring a shining face to the hobby and I’m very appreciative of your passion and dedication to collecting. You’re one of the few UA-camrs who are truly about the cards . We’ll find more time in the future. I’m certain my friend. I hope to talk to you soon Dave
Dave, just a pure pleasure to accompany you as you shoot and chat about the REA cases, makes me feel like I was right there with you, learning. Thank you!
Glad to hear it sounds like you and your son had a great time! Congrats on that beautiful pickup! Thank you for sharing the footage from the show. The Johnston cookies piece and uncut 3-D are so cool
Thank You for all you do Dave, you are an incredible person, and am honored to call you my Friend. Now....for as nice as that Walter looks on the screen, its very much more impressive in person! Looks like a mini out of a 2021 A&G pack, so CRISP!
Dave, it was an honor to meet and talk with you briefly on Thursday night. Hearing you talk about getting antsy, mind racing, etc. when you saw that Johnson portrait pretty much sums up the way I felt when I saw the ‘48 Musial that I purchased this year 😂 When a card elicits that kind of visceral response.. thats when you know its the right one. Congrats sir, it IS an amazing example. Already looking forward to Cleveland!
Great Johnson portrait card Dave! That is a great pick up! Love the Collins McCarthy Joe Jackson! Incredible! You've got the best collection I've ever seen, its really amazing. Sorry that we didn't get a chance to meet in person. Hoping to meet catch up with you next year. Glad you had a great National!
It was great meeting you Dave! I was the fellow who spoke with you about the 3D Clemente’s at our table. Truly was just happy to meet you as an appreciator of your channel- the clemente moment was a nice bonus! Congrats on the Johnson
probably the best nat'l video because you showed vintage and you held the camera steady so we could see the cards. too many videos try to show so many cards that the camera is never steady. kudos!!
What a great time we had this week. First and foremost it was an absolute pleasure visiting with you and Kaden. I know that all of us feel privileged that you share him with us on these trips. What an awesome young man he has become. I loved walking the floor with you guys and hearing all of your knowledge and wisdom when it comes to cards and life. Seeing you get excited about others pickups more so than your own is so great to see and is greatly appreciated by all. What a great community we have. Seeing the cards you brought from your collection to share and also the Walter Johnson you picked up were real treats. Sorry for the long comment but this show was really special.
Yes, surprised you did not have this card in your collection, but it was worth the wait as this one is gorgeous. There is a softness about this card like no other T206 maybe the portrait of Walter Johnson with the yellow background and the orangish blonde tint of his hair but it is an art piece. Fantastic and enjoyed your summation and clips.
Dave - one of the highlights of The National was the opportunity to meet you and Caden (sp?). Thank you for engaging in conversation with me and allowing me to be one of the first to hold the T206 Johnson in my hand. Incredibly beautiful card! Looking forward to the catching up with you again sometime.
Incredible cards Dave. The Walter Johnson is Incredible but the one I keep thinking about is that orange borders Mathewson. Amazing card thanks for sharing 👍
Dave it was great seeing you and your son there, I only wish that there was more time where we could have been able to chat. Congrats on the pickup. That Walter Johnson is going to be right at home in your collection.
Dave, it was my privilege to meet you in person! Congrats on obtaining a super sweet Walter Johnson! Looks truly amazing! Also, it was really cool to see auction cards you have interest in! 😊👊
Dave congrats on the WoJo portrait such a killer card!! Was an absolute honor to meet you and Kaden at the show and talk for a few minutes! Appreciate your time and look forward to our next meet up!
That is a beautiful Walter Johnson T206. Always good to see a 1968 Clemente 3D. I was amazed to see the unopen pack of 1968 3D's at the booth near the main entrance. It was great meeting you and sharing some of my purchases. Heritage Auctions gave me the low down on the Johnny Bench blank back/blank front 1971 Topps Super. Production of the 1971 Supers was somewhat sketchy, sometimes the fronts and backs of the cards did not stay together.
@@Bluejacket66 I did a short on the display case with all the iconic packs in that case. It was unbelievable with the Topps Plaques, Goudey's, Diamond Stars, just amazing packs. Same dealer I purchased the blue Exhibit 4 in 1 Exhibit from. ua-cam.com/users/shorts27YqeHUHF30
Awesome pickup. That Johnson is beautiful, congratulations. Was so great to meet you, wish we could have spent more time together. Next time my friend.
Congratulations on the Walter Johnson T206! It's a beautiful looking example Dave. Glad you had a great time at the show, and I REALLY hope you go to Cleveland next year so I can finally meet you and shake your hand!
That Walter Johnson is gorgeous. As a Twins/Senators collector, that particular card is my Holy Grail! Love it. I always enjoy your videos. Your approach to the National recap was very good. I’ve never gone, but it is definitely on my bucket list. Maybe once I finish getting the kids through college! 😄
Fantastic Review of the National! Love all of the cards that you showed in your footage.... something else to see, not sure how I could walk past some of these cards, I would just stand there and smile and plug everything up. Don't see why people would care if someone else reholders something or not...what is it to them....That Walter Johnson knocks it out of the park for sure. Have a great day

Dave, I really enjoyed your recap. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and the great footage. Hopefully, I can meet you all in Cleveland next year. What a gorgeous example of that Big Train portrait. It’s actually on my list right now and I’m looking for a copy like that in an easy. Take care.
Outstanding wrap up from the National Dave. That Walter Johnson is downright ridiculous, congrats on adding that into your collection. Wish I would have gotten the opportunity to run into you on the show floor or chatted a little more, but there's always next time. Can't wait for Cleveland.
Awesome pickups. Great to meet you on Thursday night. I think that crazy little black and white little Ty Cobb card that one guy had at $8K raw never sold. So be ir. 😀
Love that T206 Walter Johnson. Have had my eye on that one since I returned to the hobby after 40 years. Gotta be among the top 10 cards in the hobby - absolutely stunning. Congrats on a great pickup. ⚾️
Amazing pickup, Dave. Congrats! I actually overheard someone complaining that there was not enough modern at the show. Hilarious. It was a pleasure having a short chat with you on the floor.
I really enjoyed this video. I love the cards in your collection that you showed and your Walter Johnson is gorgeous. Congratulations on an awesome purchase.
Perhaps the comment about the lack of vintage cards in Chicago referred not to the 206s which were abundant but cards from scarcer sets like the T210 Old Mill, T213 Coupon types 1,2 and 3, Obaks, E99 and E100 etc, all of which I collect and were as scarce as hen’s teeth. I managed to buy 5 T213s,a Buck Weaver D310 and a few others but there seem to be fewer and fewer vintage cards which aren’t mainstream 206s. Some 205s and 207s but not like the numbers at the conventions in the 90’s through say 2015. Being a Baby Boomer I now find the joy of going to Nationals rekindling old friendships and meeting new collectors. Thanks for the video.

Hi Dave. A real heartfelt video that truly captures what this hobby should be and is for a lot of us. I'm very new to this youtube community, and just the individuals you mentioned at the start, are some off the ones I've been introduced to, or heard of, through Mike @ Canadian Cards. The cards you showed are awesome. I look forward to the time I meet you and shake you hand, Thanks Stephen

What an eye for that T206 Johnson. Most beautiful 3 I’ve ever seen hands down. Congratulations. The 1910 W-UNC trio you saw there was fantastic. The Wagner is absolutely cool from that’s set. I wonder what the value of that one would be.
Dave, I really like your new T206 Walter Johnson. I cherish strong color and crisp print registration, too, and your Walter has those aspects very strong. Congratulations. Whether you got this Sweet Cap Walter long ago or now, the point is THIS example hit your aesthetic senses in a powerful way, and you would have had remorse if you passed it by. I also was admiring your orange-bordered Matty---nice! Very pretty 1953 Stahl-Meyer Franks Mickey Mantle at --14:35--; wonder what kind of action it will get. Thanks ever so much for sharing video from the National. All the best to you, my friend. --- Brian Powell
Dave, this was a fantastic watch. And that Walter Johnson, just amazing. Congrats! Thanks for sharing that, all the footage, and your insights. It was great meeting you Thursday night, even if it was all too brief (we talked about Yoo-hoo). Cheers!
New subscriber here...I'm in Cleveland and went to the show a few years ago and they only used 1/2 of the IX Center, so space I don't think will be any problem. Also, cost of living here is lower then the other National locations as the cost of the Hotels/Flights will be less. IX Center is next to the Airport, but no Hotels connected to the IX Center. I've been to many shows here (Autoshow) and Never had any problem with Temps here. IX Center is under New Ownership, so I hope that will translate to a better experience then the last one. Sidebar.. I have a few rare 1948 Leaf Baseball cards I'll be submitting as condition is for a few are impeccable for the year. I can't justify the shipping and insurance cost if the cards come out 7-9 along with possible theft/swap outs of my cards. Anyway, great Video.
Agree 100% on "massive amounts of vintage" Dave. Really enjoyed the Thursday get-together. You said during the Q&A you didn't think you'd pick up anything. I'm glad that changed and you found some great cards!
Dave it was a pleasure seeing you and meeting your son! That Johnston Cookies mail order panel is fantastic! Congrats on that beautiful Walter Johnson! Such a gorgeous card! I’m glad you didn’t include what you had for breakfast, lunch and dinner! 😂😂😂 See you next year!
Wow Dave what a beautiful Johnson portrait; that is one of my “grail” cards as I have the T206 Johnson pitching card and Mathewson portrait but not the Johnson portrait; in my opinion the Johnson and Mathewson portraits are probably the most attractive cards in the set; REA has 8 of them in their current auction so I will see and be bidding; glad you and Kaden had a great time; be well and stay safe
That orange bordered Mathewson and the Shoeless Joe are super amazing cards Dave! And congrats on your brand new pickup! Beautiful Walter Johnson T206!!! 👍🔥
Awesome stuff Dave!! I never understand why anybody ever criticizes fellow collectors..That part of the hobby has never made any sense to me. Safe travel home.
Looks like all had a blast. Your son is really growing up! Almost didn’t recognize him. I trust he had a good time too, and maybe saw/got some Pokémon cards. All the best, Bill
Damn Bill-- missed you completely, so sorry. Yes, he found a lot of Pokémon ( I think there was a lot more booths this year) and made out like a bandit
Great video Dave loved the vintage footage, the re-holder cards look great, and the PSA 3 Big Train is awesome and looks really sharp glad you had a good time, did your son pick up any Pokemon cards for his collection
Wow, sounds like you and Kayden (sorry if misspelled) had a great time from start to finish! if that Johnson portrait doesn’t make ya weak in the knees, I don’t know what will. Haha! Tons of wonderful cards in this video. Safe travels home!

I always enjoy seeing what interests you, so the footage of the auction house booths and what you hope to acquire was fine with me. At least I get to see what I’ll most likely never hold in my hands. Thanks for sharing what you already have. That Johnson sure is nice. You are one of the content creators that I have learned from. Bet you can’t wait to get home!
What a great week it was, Dave. Always a pleasure to connect with you and Kaden. Out of all the Walter Johnson portraits I've come across doing shows or browsing auction houses, yours is the best example I've seen. I think you put it best, it truly does speak for itself. Congrats on adding the Big Train to your collection.

Dave, this was a fantastic watch. And that Walter Johnson, just amazing. Congrats! Thanks for sharing that, all the footage, and your insights. It was great meeting you Thursday night, even if it was all too brief (we talked about Yoo-hoo). Cheers!
Thanks John. I found that yoo hoo berra but there was a stamp on the back and it was way overpriced
Love to see the 1949 Leafs ( yes, they were released in 1949, not 1948). Send any pics to lightningshack25@gmail.com
Cheers
Agree 100% on "massive amounts of vintage" Dave. Really enjoyed the Thursday get-together.
You said during the Q&A you didn't think you'd pick up anything. I'm glad that changed and you found some great cards!
It just happened!!!
@@Bluejacket66 my budget was tight, but I picked up a '28 Yuenglings Lloyd Waner and am stoked. (photo is actually Paul Waner on the card)
@@steelcitydw nice!!
See you next year!
A real pleasure Jim!!
great cards dave. Love that 68 topps 3d clemente, congrats on the walter johnson. beautiful
Thanks Ray, shot for Cleveland
@@Bluejacket66 I'm going to strongsville in april and cleveland in july.
@@rayfromphilly6969 I’m shooting forstrongville Ray
@@Bluejacket66 we will have to keep in touch from now till then to see if we're both going. I really want to go there
Very nice to meet you and Cade this week. (or is it Caden? I'm bad with names. Sorry.) Congrats on that great WoJo. Stunning card.
Had a great time and a pleasure talking to you!!
Wow Dave what a beautiful Johnson portrait; that is one of my “grail” cards as I have the T206 Johnson pitching card and Mathewson portrait but not the Johnson portrait; in my opinion the Johnson and Mathewson portraits are probably the most attractive cards in the set; REA has 8 of them in their current auction so I will see and be bidding; glad you and Kaden had a great time; be well and stay safe
mark good luck with REA, if your able to get the right one, let me know
Stunning Walter Johnson, great pickup!
Thanks Dave
Awesome pickup! Enjoy that card
I will Mark!
Awesome pickup
👍
You have some amazing cards. When did you start collecting vintage?
To a degree in the late 70s
Amazing card! I was ironically on the hunt for the same card and wasn’t able to find the one for me.
Now that I think about it, I don’t recall seeing many wojos. I think it’s becoming very desirable…
@@Bluejacket66 agree. There were very few and I only spotted one wajo t205.
That orange bordered Mathewson and the Shoeless Joe are super amazing cards Dave! And congrats on your brand new pickup! Beautiful Walter Johnson T206!!! 👍🔥
Thank you my friend
Awesome stuff Dave!! I never understand why anybody ever criticizes fellow collectors..That part of the hobby has never made any sense to me. Safe travel home.
Thanks !! Take care my friend
Looks like all had a blast. Your son is really growing up! Almost didn’t recognize him. I trust he had a good time too, and maybe saw/got some Pokémon cards.
All the best,
Bill
Damn Bill-- missed you completely, so sorry. Yes, he found a lot of Pokémon ( I think there was a lot more booths this year) and made out like a bandit
Dave, sounds like you had a great time. The Johnson T206 is a beauty
Thank you Peter!
Great video Dave loved the vintage footage, the re-holder cards look great, and the PSA 3 Big Train is awesome and looks really sharp glad you had a good time, did your son pick up any Pokemon cards for his collection
Lots of Pokémon mark. Way more Pokémon there than in previous years
nice
Wow!!
Hi Nate! You had a good wrap up
Great recap, Dave! Amazing Walter Johnson T206 pickup. What a real beauty!
Thank you Mark
Wow, sounds like you and Kayden (sorry if misspelled) had a great time from start to finish! if that Johnson portrait doesn’t make ya weak in the knees, I don’t know what will. Haha! Tons of wonderful cards in this video. Safe travels home!
Another one in the books Reese..
awesome johnson iam an avid t206 collector but i dont have the 2 johnsons and also god bless kaden you guys seem to have a cool relationship kind of like i had with my dad
We had an awesome time Anthony, thanks
That T206 WJ looks like the nicest 3 I’ve ever seen!
It a pretty one!
Dave, it was so nice to meet you and your son. I’m so happy that you were able to pick up the WaJo portrait! That is an absolute stunner! Hope to see you again soon.

Son we had a great time… although kinda ready to get back home, it’s sad thinking it’s a long year before the next one
Congrats Dave terrific addition.
Thanks Josh, any luck with your sales?
@@Bluejacket66 yes sir and pretty much all set. I’ll share some other pieces that came in with swaps/trades and what not soon.
Incredible card! 🎉
Thank you
Dave that’s such an amazing pickup!! Hope it’s not too awkward everyone telling you how amazing your Johnson is😂
I do brag on it, lol
Great vid and great card!
Thank you!!
Thanks Ken, yep
I’m tired and ready to be home for sure
Crazy pick up. Beautiful
I’m really happy!
Id rather have a card trashed than restored. T206 graded a PSA 3 is the old PSA 7
Lol
Dick Perez recreated the 1953 Topps original artwork?
Maybe I misspoke in saying it was Perez work
What a great week it was, Dave. Always a pleasure to connect with you and Kaden. Out of all the Walter Johnson portraits I've come across doing shows or browsing auction houses, yours is the best example I've seen. I think you put it best, it truly does speak for itself. Congrats on adding the Big Train to your collection.
Thanks JT- we had such a great time!! See you soon
All I can say is wow😮
Hi James!
that is an awsome PSA 3 walter johnson … wow...
Thank you Lee!
