How to say thank you to other drivers

This was inspired by noticing the different ways people thank you when driving, or the ways they dont!
I have finished my latest replica prop build, this time I have made some arrow heads along the lines of the ones Hawkeye uses in the comics and the Avengers movies, I have tried my best to show the process I used, mainly made from `pound shop` purchases.

Many thanks indeed to the driver of a White Van I think registration was SA 12 UCZ Last Friday 24 Sept collected my new car and drove to Asda Petrol station in Worksop. After a short wait attempted to purchase fuel. First problem car manual not in car so could not open petrol cap for a few minutes, then card was not being accepted at pump because previous customers £85 plus was still registering. I was a little stuck to say the least. Driver behind could not wait and although not annoyed smiled at me and said don't worry and drove out. Then the White Van drove towards me, driver got out and came to help.
I mentioned to him we had just picked up the car from the garage and eventually with his help pump cleared and card was accepted. Bought some fuel, said many thanks to him and we drove towards home. On arrival at the 2nd set of lights White van driver pulled alongside and signalled he wished to say something.
He said our nearside brake light was not working, so we needed to return to the garage.
Thank you so much to this Knight of the Road, wish more were like you.

Where I come from, South Africa 🇿🇦, we flash our hazard lights to say thank you to other drivers.

Why should the oncoming traffic thank the person who's simply waiting to drive around an obstacle in their lane? Thank them for not stealing their right of way?

Being nice, polite, friendly makes the world a better place for everyone to live in, but, there is no "should", its a choice, be nice or not be nice. One will make your life better.
