I will be taking my third test in July 😌. Did you notice a lot of changes on your third driving test compared to your second one? I know your comment was from last year. I remember I failed my second driving test because of speed limit. It was a dual carriage way which had a temporary speed limit of 50mph due to road works. I was doing about 56mph as I had come off a round about and was still in the right lane. Due to rush hour traffic I was unable to move to the left lane on time and all the car behind me were close to each so I thought speeding up and moving to the right lane will be a good option but I ended up failing because of that😌

I wish I can have this guy as my driving instructor, I had 3 instructors and it is simply not working for me and I have a test coming up soon. 1st guy - always comes late and doesn't follow booking time and changes booking time last minute,2nd guy - extremely professional and extremely slow, I may need 1000 lessons to get his approval, doesn't want to give the steering and expects you to be perfect without giving you enough time on the steering. 3rd guy - very unprofessional, smokes cigarettes during lessons and uses foul language and complaints and moans when I make a mistake, he worries that I am ruining his clutch. I have finally decided to drive my family car (with supervision) which I have been using to practice for a while and I am confident with it. I will take the family car to my test. I can drive my family car anywhere, even on a dual carriageway to long distances but when I am with an instructor I simply just forget to drive as they want everything to be perfect without giving you enough time on the steering and I start panicking.
Agreed! Same happened with me and now I am driving my husband’s car which is full insured and safe for me.! I feel more confident and safe to drive my own car instead of Instructor’s car. So much to learn from these videos and also practice is all matters.!
Thanks for this video Richard. My driving instructor abandoned me with just over a week until my test leaving me no time to find another instructors car to use. I’m having to do test in my own car which I have very little experience of using and have never driven in my test town or done any manoeuvres so no idea of reference points 😫 just spending every day now out driving and watching these videos to give myself the best chance. Feel so let down
@@earth.gratitude thank you, I failed the first one but got another test 3 weeks later in a different town I’d never been to before as the original town was an 8+ month waiting list for another test. But I passed 2nd time!!
Funny that you mentioned convertibles. All of my instructor's cars were convertibles. Even the one I that I have done 36 hours. It is great when you can put the roof down, but it's rear visibility is very bad when the roof is up. This was one of the reason I choose to use my car for the practical test.
Heyy richard!!! Been following you sincee soo longgg!!! Im proud to tell you that u have helped me sooo muchhhh ......today i got my drivers license in dubai!!....i just wanna say thank you so muchh for all u do......keep it up!!
Hi Richard! Thank you for a really informative video. Possibly a silly question but will ask nonetheless ;) I have been learning in my instructor's manual car but we own an automatic. Can I use our automatic car for the exam and still pass? It's a hybrid SUV.
It doesn't matter if you learn/practice in an automatic or a manual, it only matters what you take your test in. If you take your test in an automatic, you get a driving licence which only lets you drive automatic cars. If you take your test in a manual, you can drive both automatic and manual cars. As far as I know, anyway.
Booked my test today. It’s on the 11th of July and I will be using my own car so have to learn everything. Failed my first test in 2018 and gave up Lool but I was still driving
Hello Richard, I’m a new driver in my probatory period in Germany and I’m very cautious when it comes to traffic rules especially speed limits. A lot of drivers out there of course feel the need to drive faster than allowed and they either overtake dangerously, tailgate or start flashing their lights. I will not drive faster than the speed limit because here they are very strict when it comes to this especially for beginners. Unfortunately sometimes there are no areas where I can pull over and let the other drivers pass. Can you please make a video on how to deal with situations like these? Thank you in advance 🙏🏽!
That's a good point. I'm not sure if I will make a dedicated video on it but it will most likely come up in videos. It's important you are your own leader and not to buckle under pressure. If someone wants to break the law that's up to them, but I have very little respect for people who encourage others to break the law.
I passed my theory test on the 6th 49 out of 50 🎉 and 60 on videos ❤️ but now I've got 6 months wait for main test 😢 why so long..if I fail I don't have meny attempts only 2 year I hope I give it my all 💯
Thanks for the great video. I have a doubt. If I bring my friend (above 21 and 3 yr over experience), should I get him insured in my car. I mean is it necessary by law.
I’ve got my driving test this week! Unfortunately my instructor tested positive for corona so I have had to re learn how to drive in a family members car! Wish me luck 😭😳
Hi, For me to take a friend's car to my driving test, does he need to have a license for over 3 years even though he will drive me to and from the test centre i.e. I wouldn't be practicing in his car with him sat next to me, but just the examiner during the driving test?
Hi Richard, love your videos. Wanted to know what happens in this case: Since people holding Indian licence can drive in the UK for 1 year, can we take a rented car for the driving test?, Do we need specific learners insurance because technically we can drive in the UK during that period?. Hope to get some clarity on that aspect, please.
Hello, just wanna ask some question. Is it required to bring spare tire for your practical driving test? Because when i bought my car i realised that it had no spare tire in it. Hopefully you could answer my question.
Hey! I have been practicing on a car which is working perfectly fine. But right just before my test day, the ima light comes on after driving couple of miles and sometimes it doesn’t. It is Honda Civic ima! However, the car performance is perfect. And there is no other light at all.
My car has tinted rear passenger window and rear glass, however the front windows are clear, can I take it and can I get my relative to sit behind with me during test
Hi Richard My Driving test will be on 3rd of August, Im using my own car for the test I hold a International drivers license driving here for 8 month's now and will expire in September. I will not take a driving lessons now because of too much backlog because of the pandemic. 1st question is can I drive unaccompanied to the driving test centre? 2nd question about the L Plate can I put it on when I arrive at the driving centre? Hoping for your response Thank you
Yes you can go unaccompanied to the test centre and you need L plates for your test. The requirements for your car are exactly as someone with a UK provisional licence.
Hi Richard! How can we put and secure the L plate on our sedan car, please? We bought full magnetic plate before we changed our car. Now we have a sedan Jaguar with plastic rear bumper and a non-magnetic bonnet. Where in positions and How can we put on the L plates? The English is my second language and I really like your videos. Thank you all
They can be a pain. Sometimes high quality tape is the only way to get them to stick, just don't leave it in too long and be careful which tape you use, you could damage your paint.
my L plate flew off on a dual carriageway once but i got some off amazon which are completely magnetic not just the two little strips and they are much better. also, im doing the test in my own car and i stuck the suction rear view mirror on and because its off centre it doesnt quite cover the whole back window, do you think this will be okay for test?
My Mercedes A160 had a recall that was fixed last year, but the gov.uk website still showing as pending recall. Will this be a problem in using this car for test ? TIA
@@ConquerDriving Thanks! What car do you have BTW? It sounds like you say Seat Lounge in the video, but I couldn’t find anything on that. Did you say Seat Leon?
Quick question, i am supervising a learner, which hasn't passed their theory test yet but does hold a provisional licence. Is it still legal for us to learn to drive the car? I myself have full uk manual licence for 3 years and I'm over 21. Thanks
A learner driver can learn with a friend or family member before they have passed the driving theory test. Watch my video on supervising learners for more info.
Hi Richard I want to go to practical exam with my car, I have full drive lessons from my country (non UK ) ,I drive legally in UK. Insurance for car is on me . Questions is ,it will be a problem if I will go alone, without person, whichone have 21 yers and 3 years drive practice?
I found this video helpful as I've got my driving test in a week. I'm learning in my family's own Renault Zoe (automatic/electric), and I was wondering if I needed to bring proof that it wasn't on the recall list? And do I need to bring printed proof that the car is insured? (Obviously, I'll need to bring my provisional driving license). I'm just having last-minute nerves on what I need to bring so I can be prepared.
So I'm thinking of doing my driving test in my own car however you can't see my speed if you're sitting in the passengers seat. Will they be able to use their satnav for the speed or judge it themselves?
I've had a car like that I've used on test. I used the Sat nav, it's up to them though. They may use the sat nav with the understanding that it is lower than the car's speedo.
Hello! Just a quick question, I want to use my own car to do the test, do I need to have someone take me to the driving test centre? It is a 5min drive from my home so was wondering if they need to see someone who is over 21 and has been driving for 3 years before I can start my test. Thank you!
My driving instructor taught me that the palming method is the best way to change gear but I disagree and find I am much more in control when I change gear with my hand on top of the gear stick. What should I do?
Do whatever works best for you. It doesn't matter for the test as long as you get it into gear. Be gentle though, forcing it in quickly wears it out more quickly.
Hahahahahaha! I was surprised to see that one of my cars is on the UK's safety fault list. I have a 2009 Toyota Yaris (automatic transmission). I got a recall letter years ago about the seat rail track. If the driver's seat gets moved very frequently, apparently there's a chance that a spring in the seat rail will break from the metal fatigue. This could launch the seat forward in an accident. I never took the car to the dealership to get fixed. I'm the only driver of the car, and it's very rare that I move the seat. I never got a letter about the steering column mounting. So, either my car's VIN wasn't affected, or it doesn't apply to Yarises sold in the US.
So provided you have met all the requirements, do you just turn up to the test beforehand in your car. Will they do checks when you arrive ? I’m assuming you don’t need to inform them prior or anything if you plan on doing the test in your own car?
You don't need to inform them, you just need a car that fits the requirements and the person driving it must be legally be able to drive it. For example insurance, etc.
Do we still need to have a supervisor even if we have an international full driver license? I have an international full driver license and I used this license to make my insurance. I know that I have 1 year permit to drive with my international driver license. Could you please advise about this too?
I’ve got a Golf and in terms of insurance I’ve put my mum as the main driver and me as the additional driver, is that fine? And if so, does that mean my insurance covers me to do the test on the day, or do I need to do something additional for that
If your mum is the actually main driver of the car it's fine, but if you use the car the most then you will most likely not be insured. It's called fronting.
I’ve been driving manual for like 2 months now and some days I’m good and others not so much. Sometimes I put to much gas on the take off or my foot position on the clutch isn’t good. What can I do to get better on my clutch foot position
Please must I have to carry someone to the driving test centre since I plan to use my car and I am currently driving with international license. Pls I need answers urgently. Thanks
Driving to your test is no different to driving when practising for your test. If you need a supervisor to practise then you need a supervisor to go to test. If you're legally allowed to drive without a supervisor then you don't need one for test.
Thanks for letting me know i can use my car even though it uses an electronic handbrake. Was wandering if i need to turn off the hill assist for any hillstarts during the test?
I have taken out a car insurance on my 107. So as a learner I have a normal car insurance and not a learner insurance. I believe this should cover my driving test too as I see no difference driving with a supervisor in town or doing my driving test with the examiner. Am I wrong?
I have a question. Can you use someone’s else car if they had their own license years ago in Europe, but the UK one only like 2 years cuz they change it for living here.
Hi richard, I already registered Collingwood account, but I forgot to use your link , is there any discount code I can use when I purchase the insurance ? Many thanks .
I was checking everything off the requirements list, but then you said it needs 4 wheels and can't be stolen. I guess I'm using the instructor's car!

Just goes to show how different 3 people doing the exact same job can be, in any profession.
Feel so let down
hope it all went well for you!
@@earth.gratitude thank you, I failed the first one but got another test 3 weeks later in a different town I’d never been to before as the original town was an 8+ month waiting list for another test. But I passed 2nd time!!
Well detailed explanation from head to toe.Thank you!!!
Funny that you mentioned convertibles. All of my instructor's cars were convertibles. Even the one I that I have done 36 hours. It is great when you can put the roof down, but it's rear visibility is very bad when the roof is up. This was one of the reason I choose to use my car for the practical test.
You can tell how good this guy is 500 plus likes not one dislike legend
Heyy richard!!! Been following you sincee soo longgg!!! Im proud to tell you that u have helped me sooo muchhhh ......today i got my drivers license in dubai!!....i just wanna say thank you so muchh for all u do......keep it up!!
You're very welcome and congratulations on passing!
You can but then you will only have an automatic driving licence.
Thank you for your video, its very helpful for me.
Can't be stolen made me laugh 😆. Thanks, helpful video
Hello There, this is a really helpful video, thank you for sharing this, this is much appreciated. Cheers Peter :)
Very useful video.👍and i didn't know about the second mirror. Thank u for the info my test is on the 15th. Very nervous 🙄
I hope it goes well 🤞
Hope it went well, I passed mine yesterday. I luckily bought a second interior mirror the day before my test.
@@ZakirKhan-od4oj i failed the test☹️ thanks x
@@ashwinya2425 Ahh, hopefully next time, I passed on my third time so don’t be disheartened, take a break, then practice and try again.
@@ZakirKhan-od4oj thank you🤩
You are the best.
I wish you were my driving instructor
I dunno why I still watch these I passed years ago.
Perhaps it's my amazing sense of fashion 😉😂
Booked my test today. It’s on the 11th of July and I will be using my own car so have to learn everything. Failed my first test in 2018 and gave up Lool but I was still driving
I wish you the best of luck!

@@ConquerDriving thanks for the feedback!
If you use your own car what happens if you make a mistake on the test and the examiner doesn’t have dual controls? Will they just say “Stop?”
Thanks
That's right, there is more risk without dual controls but the examiner rarely ever needs to use them if you take your test after adequate training.
I passed my theory test on the 6th 49 out of 50 🎉 and 60 on videos ❤️ but now I've got 6 months wait for main test 😢 why so long..if I fail I don't have meny attempts only 2 year I hope I give it my all 💯
Thanks!
I'm sorry to hear that, good luck!
Did you pass
Hi, For me to take a friend's car to my driving test, does he need to have a license for over 3 years even though he will drive me to and from the test centre i.e. I wouldn't be practicing in his car with him sat next to me, but just the examiner during the driving test?
Hi Richard, love your videos. Wanted to know what happens in this case: Since people holding Indian licence can drive in the UK for 1 year, can we take a rented car for the driving test?, Do we need specific learners insurance because technically we can drive in the UK during that period?. Hope to get some clarity on that aspect, please.
'it cant be stolen' slayed me
Hello, just wanna ask some question.
Is it required to bring spare tire for your practical driving test?
Because when i bought my car i realised that it had no spare tire in it.
Hopefully you could answer my question.
My understanding is that a space saver spare wheel can't be used on the test.
Hey! I have been practicing on a car which is working perfectly fine. But right just before my test day, the ima light comes on after driving couple of miles and sometimes it doesn’t. It is Honda Civic ima! However, the car performance is perfect. And there is no other light at all.
Explain more about warning lights please
Thank you so much
My car has tinted rear passenger window and rear glass, however the front windows are clear, can I take it and can I get my relative to sit behind with me during test
What if the passenger cannot see through the rear window using the mirror you provide, due to the windscreen being too steep?
What about person holding international license and insurance for my own car and can I go for test with my own car without supervisor.
I have a question, i already have SPDC insurance of my car, do i need to have additional insurance for driving test..?? @conquer driving
Hi Richard
My Driving test will be on 3rd of August, Im using my own car for the test I hold a International drivers license driving here for 8 month's now and will expire in September. I will not take a driving lessons now because of too much backlog because of the pandemic.
1st question is can I drive unaccompanied to the driving test centre?
2nd question about the L Plate can I put it on when I arrive at the driving centre?
Hoping for your response
Thank you
Yes you can go unaccompanied to the test centre and you need L plates for your test. The requirements for your car are exactly as someone with a UK provisional licence.
Hi mate, Can I use VW polo 2003 model to my practical test,.thanks
"I dont want to reflect the sun" REFLECTS THE SUN, GIGGLES, "something like that" :D best move
Haha, yes, I thought I'd demonstrate what I meant.
Hi Richard, thank you for the video, please can I use my Toyota Yaris 2003?
Plenty of driving instructors have used the Toyota Yaris, still check the gov website to make sure your car is not affected by recalls.
Hi Richard which app do you use in your video for demonstration like it's got everything like different colours cars, pedestrians,
Thank u
Could you make a video on reversing around the corner, we have to do it for the Irish driving test and I find it the trickiest. Thank you!
Thank you. I may do.
Bro please make a video on "How to reverse car gently on left and right side with correct pedal and steering use
I may do, thank you.
my L plate flew off on a dual carriageway once but i got some off amazon which are completely magnetic not just the two little strips and they are much better.
also, im doing the test in my own car and i stuck the suction rear view mirror on and because its off centre it doesnt quite cover the whole back window, do you think this will be okay for test?
Yes that's fine, they're never that great.
@@ConquerDriving thank you, these videos are so helpful
My Mercedes A160 had a recall that was fixed last year, but the gov.uk website still showing as pending recall. Will this be a problem in using this car for test ?
TIA
Bring evidence that the recall was done to your car.
Is driving test insurance different to being insured to just learn in the car?
They're the same. Your car insurance covers you for learning and the test. But you must be insured to drive the car.

Hi Richard
I want to go to practical exam with my car, I have full drive lessons from my country (non UK ) ,I drive legally in UK.
Insurance for car is on me .
Questions is ,it will be a problem if I will go alone, without person, whichone have 21 yers and 3 years drive practice?
If you're legally allowed to drive in the UK then it's fine.
Bring everything just to be safe.
@@ConquerDriving Thank you!
Thank you!
You must have a legal supervisor if you're going to drive your car on the public road with a provisional driving licence. Distance is irrelevant.
It says only something models so maybe yours is OK.
Hi,
From.where i cam find a cup mirror
❤
"It must have 4 wheels", well no Reliant Robin then I guess. 😂
@@ConquerDriving ok great, thanks for the reply !
Do we still need to have a supervisor even if we have an international full driver license? I have an international full driver license and I used this license to make my insurance. I know that I have 1 year permit to drive with my international driver license. Could you please advise about this too?
If your international licence is valid and you haven't been here too long then you can drive.
I have a suction cup mirror but often have a lot of trouble keeping it up. Should I bring this to the test? Does the examiner carry a spare in case?
Some times they have one, but I wouldn't count on it.
What happens if you're exempt from wearing a mask?
Exactly. I wasnt given a option when booking the test.
You have to mention that when you book the test.
I’ve been driving manual for like 2 months now and some days I’m good and others not so much. Sometimes I put to much gas on the take off or my foot position on the clutch isn’t good. What can I do to get better on my clutch foot position
Maybe this video can help: ua-cam.com/video/6MsIZPoer7w/v-deo.html
Is the car allowed to be modified or does it need to be stock/standard? It's not for me, i'm just curious
As long as it's safe and road legal then mods are OK.
Please must I have to carry someone to the driving test centre since I plan to use my car and I am currently driving with international license. Pls I need answers urgently. Thanks
Driving to your test is no different to driving when practising for your test. If you need a supervisor to practise then you need a supervisor to go to test. If you're legally allowed to drive without a supervisor then you don't need one for test.
would they allow my parents car the car has a performance backbox on it. any help will be greatly appreciated
As long as it's legal and as stated in the video then it should be OK.
Thanks for letting me know i can use my car even though it uses an electronic handbrake. Was wandering if i need to turn off the hill assist for any hillstarts during the test?
You can use that too.
I have taken out a car insurance on my 107. So as a learner I have a normal car insurance and not a learner insurance. I believe this should cover my driving test too as I see no difference driving with a supervisor in town or doing my driving test with the examiner. Am I wrong?
If you are insured to drive the car then you can use it for test. No special insurance needed.
I have a question. Can you use someone’s else car if they had their own license years ago in Europe, but the UK one only like 2 years cuz they change it for living here.
It doesn't matter if they have changed their licence in the past as long as they currently have the required licence.
Hi richard, I already registered Collingwood account, but I forgot to use your link , is there any discount code I can use when I purchase the insurance ? Many thanks .
I'm sorry but I don't think so, it just automatically works via the link. Thank you though.
Do i have to let the dvsa know beforehand that I'm using my own car? Or can I just turn up in the car?
You can just turn up, but I recommend call the test centre to check the car is OK.
Does anyone know if you have to show proof of vehicle insurance at the test if driving your own car? Is it worth printing out my policy document?
You don't have to show proof at the time of writing this comment.
