Double Your Light with Simply A Reflector

- Опубліковано 25 сер 2024
- No matter what kind of light you use- Godox, Flashpoint, Profoto or a video LED light, the light output can as much as be doubled depending on the type of reflector used. OR it can hurt the light output, as in the case of the newer Godox AD300, AD400, AD600 flash strobes. If you use a Bowens mount light, like a Godox AD600, or Flashpoint Xplor 600, or AD3o00 or AD400, or XPLOR 400, here are some examples of reflectors that can make a difference.

Who am I • Who am I
Today i learned the difference between the output of faceted interiors versus pebbled interiors. Markus continues to be one of the most valuable photography resources on my subscription list. I'm really looking forward to Tuesday's video!!
The real difference is the shadow quality. In faceted reflectors it is unacceptable for most uses. The Godox one also has a serious hotspot problem.
Mr Markus, your tips and information constantly remind me that I can still learn new ways of getting the same if not more out of the alternative ideas such as the ones you offer. Part of the reason I keep returning to your channel.. to learn even more!
Truly enjoy the information you share. No holds bare and truly clear about the use of the equipment. I find I can watch your videos and get clear concise info. Keep up the good work!
thanks
finally a video about reflectors.. this is something no one talks
Awesome tips as always - love the low cost practical recommendations. Looking forward to the Tuesday drop!
without the sound it looks like you doing a magic trick, was waiting for the rabbit. great vid though
😅
I really like the set design
one of my favorite reflectors with Bowens mount is the Jinbei Magnum 35cm (13.8 in), costs almost nothing (about $30 where I live) and works like a charm. I use it as a very low cost alternative to the super expensive profoto magnum. The Jinbei is pretty bright, but due to its bigger size less harsh than a standard reflector
Thank you so much for the test Markus! just bought the Leftfoto for my AD600 can't wait for next shoot. Have a wonderful day ~~~~
I always assumed the polished straight reflectors were the strongest light output (hadn’t seen the rounded one you just showed). I was surprised I got significantly more output than that using an open softbox. I was really surprised so I tried it with a couple different sizes, 28”, 36”, 42”. They were all about 1/3 stop brighter than the reflector. So if you have the softbox with you anyway and need max power/efficiency, it’s worth trying it out ahead of time. I’m sure there are different focus areas but I was testing around 5-10’ where I would usually shoot. Your testing inspired me to figure it out on my gear. Much easier to pair the right accessories than to pay/carry for raw output.
Thank you Markus, your understanding and explanation style really makes me think even I could be a photographer 😏, can't wait to see what you have for us on Tuesday!
Great video! And I always enjoy your personality.
Marcus, your work is invaluable! We greatly appreciate your efforts, as they spare us from the arduous task of selecting the perfect lighting solution.
Found the reflector in our local photo shop for only 29 EUR - it's a bargin... :-)
I always watch your videos when they come out. I love your enthusiasm and the information is fantastic. Love your new backgrounds. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experimentation.
Dear Markus thanks for another great video and looking forward for tomorrow's video.
Thank you ❤
Very down to earth video again. That‘s why I like these. I don‘t like flash much though and since I don‘t do any studio work I could avoid these most of the time. But I have/wanz to dive more into lighting correctly.
Cool opening animation. I laughed out loud. Thanks for the helpful info. I probably won't be able to sleep until Tuesday, excited about what's coming up. Hi, Cara!
Great! Thanks for demystifying this...for years never took the time to learn...rarely use artificial but...about to start very controlled shoots.
Thanks Markus! Very useful stuff, educated me about these light reflectors.
Looking forward to your next release that you have been preparing for some time 😃
Always enlightening Markus! Love the animations as well. Cheers - Scott!
Looking forward to Tuesday.
I really appreciate what you do.
I would love to see how you do animations/cartoons, too.
Thank you so much Markus for the informative tutorial! Very helpful for me! God bless you and good luck!
As always, Markus is saving me time and money! Thank you!
Very nice set design! 😮👌
Thanks, Markus!!
16 vs 11.9 pardon a tenth of a stop?
I love your videos photography is light . hug from luis . ... Portugal
I'll be there on time Tuesday!
Thanks
wow! I never knew the difference could be so big just switching reflector.
Love the intro. animation! Terrrific, informative upload!
Great info. Thank you for sharing this.
Nice work yahoo
Always enjoy your vids Markus. Keep them coming, sub here to your channel. KUDOS DUDE! and plenty!
Still waiting for Tuesday 😁
Hola Markus,
Thanks for the awesome information!
I wondered if you have recommendations or videos about how the depth of a softbox affects the output of the light.
Gracias!
MARKUS MAKES IT HAPPEN!!!
Hey Markus, I'd love to see your review of the new MagMod XL reflector. I'd love to see how it stacks up to these options.
Hi Markus, I got the Leftfoto reflector the other day and mounted it on my AD200 to day. I took several photos comparing it to the Godox 4.7" Standard Reflector. It's the same power. The Leftfoto may have a wider throw, however.
The leftfoto doubles the light of an AD600. Not the same when using a 200 in an S-bracket.
@@MarkusPix I’m not using an S-bracket. I feel the same way as you do about them. I took the bottom off the AD-S17 and glued it to the bottom of the reflector. It does make the AD200 bigger, but not necessarily heavier.
Either way, the huge Leftfoto was made for a big 600. Nothing beats the little 4.7" for a 200
Hi Markus, It gives excellent results. It is easy to use. It's economical. In short, it is a real triple threat. The Leftfoto gives ever so little more softness. But it is kind of clunky to use and for the price of one of those, you can get three of the AD-S2 units.
I hope you finally review Axibo slider PTZ. It can also follow and follow focus
The OEM reflector is nice if you want to leave the bulb installed in the light when transporting it (especially if you're only using Godox/Flashpoint lighting gear which uses their proprietary mounting system in most cases). This lets you attach the cover with the reflector and remove it quickly. But beyond that, you'd be better off installing the Bowens adapter and removing the bulb (but I don't think you have a way of covering and protecting the contacts on the light face, but if you remove the battery, the risk of shorting for example, is not an issue).
I've never removed the bulbs when traveling in all my years. I just leave the reflector on with the diffusion plastic over the end
Hola, buenas noches, gracias por el contenido... veremos que video haces para el martes, saludos!
Where can I find the plastic defusers?
Links?
See you on Thursday 😊
love the intro, so funny
So that reflector with ad200pro with bare bulb is almost ad400?
Yes!!!
hey Markus! i would love to see you compare these reflectors with Aputure's narrow and medium size reflectors that where designed for their continuous 1200d light. they come in a kit of 3 (wide, medium and narrow) with a nice case.
Thanks for info on the Leftfoto reflector. Is the diffuser you are using available for purchase separately? I'd think their transparency would differ by manufacturer.

Thanks Markus your a -⭐- which trigger would you recommend with the AD100.
Buenos días señor. Es usted muy chingón (means something like.. you f**ng rock or something 🔥). See you on Tuesday.
What would work or give more light with speed lights
Great new animated intro, love it. Do you do them yourself? And also out of curiosity, did you announce the winners fie your last giveaway? I do view all your videos but I have got to tell you, out of all the animated cartoon intros, thus is my favorite.
Markus, i need a Ripido FVD 16A to be able to focus my anamorphic projector lens, but it costs too much for me. Bless me and I'll hit you back when I can.
Are the socks for reflector as good as your difuser? Cant buy just defuser!!
Hi,
missing one info about Leftfoto 7" Reflector!
Can someone tell me how many degrees has the emitted light of this reflector? I did not find this specification anywhere. Thank you!
Hi Markus, how do you fit these to AD100? Glue on the magnet ring?
yes. I cut off the unecessary parts first
How do these compare to the Godox 35 degree reflector? It's Godox RFT-3 / B&H GORFT3.
Does anyone have links to the recommended Reflector?
Oops sorry, I forgot. Check description box
@@MarkusPix thank you!
@@MarkusPix Thanks! Do you have links to the ProFoto and grids? Having difficulty finding those 🙂
I would love for these reflectors to be collapsible somehow. I have AD200s and I love the AD-S2 reflectors, and even though they're pretty small, they don't always fit inside my bag whenever I'm trying to trim down and bring only the essentials. But I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too :)
What about AD-M? Do you miss the ability to use grids or is that something else?
@@marcinmrzyglocki Is this just a bit more shallow than the AD-S2? It looks very similar to what I use. And they do have grids for the AD-S2, I use them often.
@@DigitalSketcher not "a bit", but entire AD-M can be hidden inside AD-S2 with a room allowing for slight mobility. Markus seems to be negative about them, but they exist for a reason, I hope.
@marcinmrzyglocki I hadn't seen them before. I'll have to look into it.
Très intéressant !! Existe t il la mémé chose pour AD 200 ? Very interesting !! Does the same thing exist for AD 200?
Hi Markus!
If you read this, would you mind providing a link to the diffuser and grid that you mentioned at 4:56? Buying one of these modifiers is a mixed bag, but it seems that you managed to find ones that get the job done without eating up a lot of light output.
Thanks!

💪👍
Does the RFT-19 take those honeycomb diffusers? I got a set that didn’t fit. Not sure if I got the wrong ones or it just doesn’t take them.
That is correct. The grid is more for the standard reflector. You could always tape it on I guess. It would still work. I've done stuff like that many times. 😄
Best reflector for Ad400pro for the best output? Pure raw power.
Unfortunately the 400 has that stupid flat frosted bulb and the mini bowens mount. For that size, weight and price, you get a lot more from a 600BM I returned my 400. Here's a comparison ua-cam.com/video/o8bdbLW2gAs/v-deo.html
Love your videos learning alot from you I'm going to buya godox AD600 and I've found links to dish and grid ,but can't find link for plastic diffusion can you help please, thanks Eamonn

While the reflector that comes with the new godox strobes sucks it's great as an end cap haha
Hi Markus, I just purchase the Leftfoto Reflector which brand of grid did you show fitting in it, if you can where and part number. thanks

@@MarkusPix Thanks Markus
Great video. Does the leftofto fit into godax ad400
yes of course
@@MarkusPix thanks Mark
I wonder why in none of the videos about AD200 was the AD-M mentioned. While it is smaller and flatter than AD-S2, it's compactness might still make it a viable option when going for an extremely undersized setup. Is there something about it I'm not aware of?
Because it's so flat, the bulb is basically touching the diffusion screen creating a hot spot. As open reflectors go, the longer they are, the more the light output. Shallow ones have less output
Can you use this on the ad200 with a Bowens mount?
Yes but it doesn't have the same effect. Better to simply use an AD-S2

I sometimes wonder, if Markus & Cara have an Animal Pet of some kind in their home ? 🤔
Markus look so GREAT 👍🌹🍇🥗
Blessed Be 🙏🩵🩷🤎
We travel too much, it wouldn't be fair
Be there or be square!!!
Plz send me your throw away reflectors (ad r-13) for the AD300. :)
I cut off the mounts and stuck on AD100 mag rings
Wanted the backdrop giveaway
😄
Very misleading, these are just giving more and more extreme hot spots so just metering in the center without showing the light pattern you’re only telling half the story.
