Pedro Lambrini They dont need to do that because we are all smart people who can see that just by looking at it. The size is already built into the tags so it can be searched.
well poeple, you have to understand: its a german brand mostly targeting the european market. i think that the price is quite high because of the shipping and stuff. they're simply new. in germany it's 119€ incl taxes.
yeah for sure, they produce it in china but quality control and stuff and blabla is in germany, so every single case has to land there. so for the US market they have to ship it a second time
+David Chen I just got the black version with a window from NCIXus for $78.99 USD. Very happy as this would otherwise have been too expensive, but instead I got for it less than the Define and the Silent Base 600. My main complaint, though, is the manual was missing almost everything for installation in every language.
This case is fantastic for a first attempt! Looks gorgeous and is nicely designed, even though it has its problems. It needs a windowed option, and maybe just a little more refinement of the small problems highlighted in this video. I would definitely buy this straight away, if the Phanteks Enthoo series wasn't around :)
To be honest I was expecting more. Was hoping for a debut in the style of phanteks. This is just your regular case. While I was waiting for the review, hoping that interesting visuals are but a premise of interesting internal design. As it turned out though, its quite a regular case, just one of many. And there is also little bit too much plastic on the outside.
I own one of these and let me tell you I am very happy. It is incredibly well build. Top quality case. It is quiet with lots of airflow inside. It is super easy to remove the drive bays and install the smaller one inside the DVD drive bay. It is what I did and I don't understand why some people say it is difficult to do. If anyone dont believe me I will send a picture of my rig! Mounting the drive bay like that allows my components to have access to massive amounts of airflow inside the case. My 290X now idles at 43C. Before it was around 50+. On full load it now tops 82C. In my old case it was 95C! (I am talking about Furmark here, with a normal full load like say playing a game like Bioshock Infinite it tops 75C) Same thing with my FX8350. In my old case it was so hot it would reach 65C with Prime95 and will shut down at full load. Now at full load it reaches 52C max. Great improvement! This PC case is 10 out of 10.
I absolutely love this case, the aesthetics are spot on, and the functionality of channelling the airflow and sound is fantastic. I reallly really want this case.
I have this case now for 5 years and it's hosting its second build with the included fans still running like day 1. This review is spot on and holds up to this day. And it makes new builds cheaper because the non window makes RGB useless... And eyecandy would be the only reason to replace the case for a more modern iteration.
Just here for the nostalgia kick. Look at the acceptable standard of the internals back in 2014.. Those Avexir RAM lights, that PSU sticker... Custom PC starter packs back then! Impressively enough though, I'm still rocking my be quiet! Silent Base 800 in 2020 and it has shown no signs of needing an upgrade! Loving my side panel GPU fan + those 5.25" drive bay that I use as mini cabinet compartments for storage. be quiet made a near-perfect entry to the case market and I'm definitely buying the next top-end case if the specs beat the 800/DBPro 900~ ♥
the top exhaust isnt that limited especially if you mount the fans from below. if you want to run a pull setup with more that 3 fans you can use the bottom panel as well wich has room for a fan plus your psu fan. In my system i run a push setup with no fans in the top of the case, just 2 front and one in the bottom and use the pull mounted cpu fan to direct airflow upwards. thanks to this i get great cooling performance and easy maintainance thanks to the filters.
Nice and sleek case, if I was in the market for cases I would pick this up. What I would love to see in future revisions is all those USB hubs and sound jacks hidden behind some kind of flip cover to keep the top of the case sleek looking.
A windowed option would be very desirable, accompanied with better liquid cooling support. I personally would like to see a full white option perhaps with the color accents as well. That would be a case I'd buy without question. On a side not. Can someone tell me what ram that was? I really liked the breathing lighting effects. And can you confirm that was the ram and I'm not just dumb and overlooked an led or something, haha
While it's expected now (on all cases) to have an easy mounting system for SSD's; I have used 3M's "Tape of the Gods" to mount many SSD's in the rear area, so it's not a total deal breaker if the manufacturer's system is difficult to use. As for color preference, I like the subtle look of the (gunmetal) silver accents. Great review as always D'mitry.
Just installed my gear into this case, so worth it! My build used to sound like a jet engine with average CPU temps of 30-ish degrees C, but now it remains about 20 with minimal sound, barely audible with headphones on :D
A nice case review as usual from your channel. What I would like to know is how it compares to other silence optimised cases in terms of price, temperatures and sound dampening
I've had this case for a few months now, it cost £80 plus £5 delivery from Scan computers, off ebay uk. Overall I am very satisfied with it, although it's a bit fiddly at first finding out how to release the front and top panels, I felt sure one of the plastic lugs would break, but they are tougher than they at first appear. Once you get the hang of releasing them its straightforward. What I found with the front is that if you have an optical drive installed it's best to release it before trying to remove the front. Also the manual that comes with the case is pretty poor, not that many people read them anyway!. I needed to change the door around so that it opened the other way, and that was another thing that proved to be incredibly fiddly. Each hinge is in two pieces and getting them into position and secured took a fair bit of time and patience. One real problem I did have was after everything was up and running that I found that the headphone socket on top of the case didn't work. After spending several hours then checking everything over (including my headphones of course!!), I contacted be quite direct, via the email link on their website. A few hours later I'd received a reply asking for my address. And just 4 days after that I received (from Germany) a new In/Out block, complete with cables. Obviously, I'm very impressed by that sort of service. Oh - and the only time I hear any noise is if I'm burning a CD, and I don't count that!
I think its a really nice first attempt, specially if their designers have never designed a case before. It looks very nice and seems to achieve what was probably their biggest goal, to be quiet ;) I am always happy to see more silent, and not overly aggressive cases come out. On a side note: If one of their future cases has a window I could see people making Black and Orange builds with those BitFenix Alchemy cables since they come in Orange. (and no Purple which makes me sad)
Looks like a great first attempt from Be Quiet. In order for me to consider one of their cases for my future build they will have to incorporate much better ventilation in the front and top of the case along with better cable management. I would also prefer a aluminium body.
finally it's here !! good looking, silent, solid build. Not that expensive compared to a Define R4 when a third fan is added. I wished they had equiped the chassis with 3 silent wings 3 for even more silent operation. I may replace the the fan at the back with my Noctua NF-s12A ULN, and add one on top to achieve a really silent system.
maybe is a revision, having a "performance series" of the case that includes front ventilation on the fan cover and a side panel window. more cable holes underneath the motherboard would be nice and perhaps actually lowering the psu and providing a shroud. also, triple rad support and the exhaust could have more ventilation that you could have the option to open or close, similar to the nzxt 810 switch. aside from the obvious standards enthusiasts expect, it's hard to expand on a rock solid design that does compromise features for the sake of silence, which be quiet! did quite well. but yall already knew that lol
I love looking forward to watching your videos, you always seem to give me ideas for new ways to deliver information. I loved the scene in a previous video where the mouse was dangling down, and text was motion tracked to it. I loved trying to recreate it. Here's what I got: Mouse Tracking Test
A good first attempt, although those punched motherboard installation points, only Atx sized limitation for such a large case and tight spacing for radiator installation on top rear panels means I going to give it a miss. Will wait for the 2nd iteration. Also no option for rear 140mm case fans is a also big cons for me especially since the case is large enough to easily accomadate those.
My only negative feedback is the lack of windowed version and yes it could have some railings for cable on the back, other than that its a very good looking and dead silent case so win.
This case is currently on sale for $100 at NCIX, it's an amazing deal and I am most certainly picking one up (Orange Accents) to replace my white NZXT H2
It looks good and it sounds good. I don't even see a problem with the price. There are a few things that I'd like to see improved, though. -It's really tall and still doesn't have that much room inside. Especially the bottom panel is way too high, though I can see why they did this. -The HDD cage is riveted and no support for 240/280 radiator support in the front. I'd sacrifice the bottom fan mount to mount a hard drive there while having a dual radiator in the front. -The legs just pop off and it seems like they would wear out if you move it around a lot. Metal supports and make the legs removable by screws? They did really well considering this is their first case and I might just build my next system in the next revision of this case. And since it's named "Base", I wouldn't be surprised to see a higher-end case from them. :)
What I miss is wheels like you used to see on GM Staker cases. An option to buy a wheel option on perhaps the rails would be great. And I agree sum cable management options would be nice. Looks like a winner great case love silent running can't beat that wit great temp in the case my compliments.
For a first case its a great try! But the cable management tie downs needs to be addressed.Other than that it would be this or the Fractal Design R5 to compete, and be quiet! should have offered a window version. as people who spend 100$ plus on a case will likely want to see the goodies inside. But I love its looks, wish it had a window though
The only thing I don't like on this case is the branding on the side vent covers it takes away from the cleanliness and I would prefer it to be flat but the option there is nice. Been looking for a great quiet simplistic looking case for awhile and this is a great option.
Looks great, love the style, I'd love to see a dark red trim myself, but agree that removable and or optional colour trim would be appreciated. Will this prompt Noctua to produce a case do you think?
It's a nice first one :) If I buy SSDs they normally come with mounting brackets, so no issue for me. But is the side panel flexible, when it's all plastic? And don't forget you get 3 premium be quiet! fans. Maybe an optional windowed side panel would be nice.
IMO just go with the define r5, even dimitri said it was the "ultimate" silent case, i myself am planning on buying the define r5 for my next build + another 140 mm fan.
This case is perfect for me. It has just the right amount of fancy asthetics in my opinion: some details and no window. I'm only afraid that I jeopardize it's silentness by mounting a CORSAIR HYDRO SERIES™ H80I GT HIGH PERFORMANCE cpu cooler in it, but I can always replace the standard fans.
I really want to like this case. It has a very nice, and clean aesthetic, it is silence optimized, but the cable management is a deal breaker. Put in more tie down points and I'll consider it, integrate some Velcro straps and you'll have my money.
very nice - I'll watch out for a m-atx version, I have a very nice full tower atm and although it's not noisy there is something to be said about a quiet pc.
I'm tempted by this case but I am unsure as to whether its gonna be better or worse than my Define R4 I have now. My case is old and the top of it has warped with heat. Im loving the clean look and orange accents. If it had a fan controller I'd be sold.
Little pricey for what you are getting but I REALLY like the look of this case. Could always use a window though ;p I'd probably go with silver if I was getting one, the orange just doesn't work at all for me.
Not sure if this is worth the extra money compared to something like the Fractal Design R4 or the Nanoxia Deep Silence cases. Though it's not bad for their first case for sure.
I don't understand how rubberized plastic is a good idea. I have an Alienware M11x since 2009. As you know, the exterior is fully rubberized. After about a year, I noticed that the rubber coating started to scratch and peel off. I eventually removed the rubber coating (with a lot of goo-gone and frustration). It's like they expect you to throw your tech in the trash after less then a year.
I have trouble insalling the psu. The screws appear to be too small. This is my first build so I might be doing something wrong thought. But I think the rubber strips on the case don't allow the psu to sit close enought to the case, so I can't properly screw the screws in.
This is my favourite case BY FAR. Personally, I find the Phanteks Enthoo Pro ugly and I think that the fractal r4/5 are VERY SMALL and the XL R2 doesn't have the good features. I am pleased that be quiet! plan to release both a separate side window kit as well as a side window edition. They revealed this at CEBI 8 hours ago! I would like more metal on the case and it would be a dream come true if the feet were alumin(i)um and the top and bottom panels were metal. If this was completely finished in aluminium, it would really appeal to the hackintosh and imac fans out there. Definitely buying this for my first build. I came to this case after watching Linus's video on Tech Tips of the ultimate silent build, although the other components in that are far too expensive for me to install in this magnificent piece of art!!!
I see a lot of people complaining about the pricing but I think they're glossing over that the case comes with actual good quiet fans and not what Fractal Design calls their 'quiet' fans.
Thank you for this video, highly informative. I was wondering how the hard drive were mounted and couln't find the information anywhere. Thanks again ;)
How does it compare to NZXT H440 and/or Fractal's R5? In addition, would case with a window panel be considered as more noisy than the one without a window?
Hi, just a question for the slient 800 and the GPU temps' for 3 years I used the Nine-Hundred ANTEC, with a 780ti and during long gaming session, I've got 60c max. Now with the Silent 800 I'm at 70-80°c is this normal ? Too hot ? :/
damn, if only filter was accessed from the front, also cable tie points, 240mm rad at bottom and front, move drive cage nearer to psu. otherwise its really awesome with the noise channeling. I think i might get this over the define r5
At 1:55 I see the 3 optical drive bays, but what is the one on top for? Almost looks like a 4th bay but looking inside the cage you can clearly see just 3 slots for optical drives.
I feel you judged this case too harshly. Those are the cleanest looking had cages I've seen. Covering fans with vents does wonders for noise isolation. I've had to use tape backed zip tie mounts in every case to properly control cable management. It's no loss not having them. Also is no loss only supporting 12 inch graphics cards. Also no real mention of build quality. Panel thickness.
If there would have been a transparent side panel maintaining the ultimate silent feature, it would have been awesome. But anyways the case is really beautiful and worth at $139.
HardwareCanucks has always had fantastic background music. I have to ask, what song plays around the 4:50 mark? (If I ask to not reply with Darude Sandstorm, ya'll gonna do it anyways, so bring it on.)
Felis Silvestris I use crucial Ballistix tracer ram, looks sooo good in your system, especially if you have a window on your case. It's also very good at a price point. Would recommend 100% :D
Silent case reviews are so subjective. Just cause the microphone doesn't pick up anything doesn't mean I won't when I'm in a silent room with it. I have yet to find a case that could make me not hear a hard drive spinning.
in the colored version they should add more accents. Like instead of having the orange around the front intakes, they should also have it around the squares on the side panels and maybe on the top and bottom covers on the case, going all the way around. Because seriously, the orange accents on the INSIDE?! there is no window, those accents should be place on the outside where the user can see them.
UPDATE NOV. 19th: The reset button is actually integrated into the HDD activity LED! sneaky little button...
Sneaky like the german snipers :D
I would like it if you guys had a decibel meter to measure the noise instead.
***** also, if you get a db meter, you can compair it to other cases which would make it easier for us to see what case outputs the least amount of noice.
***** but that would also requier that you use the same kind of fans and the same amount in every case so that there won't be any other variables messing with the result... now that I think about it it sounds like alot of work for something that most people won't care that much about...
Pedro Lambrini They dont need to do that because we are all smart people who can see that just by looking at it. The size is already built into the tags so it can be searched.
The irony of not being able to hear the fans over your own.
well poeple, you have to understand: its a german brand mostly targeting the european market. i think that the price is quite high because of the shipping and stuff. they're simply new.
in germany it's 119€ incl taxes.
Everything is shipped from China.
yeah for sure, they produce it in china but quality control and stuff and blabla is in germany, so every single case has to land there.
so for the US market
they have to ship it a second time
well that is actually totally worth it
i bought it for like 100€ which is about 135CAD
don't regret it
85CAD is totally acceptable
+David Chen I just got the black version with a window from NCIXus for $78.99 USD. Very happy as this would otherwise have been too expensive, but instead I got for it less than the Define and the Silent Base 600. Verithiell And pretty much no watercooling support
fabio neuffer Why? There is so much space for radiators...
Chris Kay Only a 120/140 at the front and a 240/280 at the top, together with poor airflow in comparison to other cases.
So much space for radiators.... guy you have to consider many more things with a watercooling build than just the space^^

How the fuck do i remove the front panel
I absolutely love this case, the aesthetics are spot on, and the functionality of channelling the airflow and sound is fantastic. I reallly really want this case.
I swear, you guys make the best case reviews. I love the way you sum up the pros and cons at the end. Keep it up.
😂😃
Impressive first case from Be Quiet! I like how they've bundled 3 high quality fans with this case.
oh my god the camera movement and the cut looks so professional.

Syndrus Music I also hope for window...
Syndrus Music THEY MADE THAT VERSION!!!
Tom mine has a window
I'm a big fan of be quiet. This case looks really good! I'm impressed. I'll certainly look at bq cases next time I'm in the market.
Bequest one of my favourite brands. Everything they make is just pure quality.
Video review to PERFECTION. Can't beat this channel
While it's expected now (on all cases) to have an easy mounting system for SSD's; I have used 3M's "Tape of the Gods" to mount many SSD's in the rear area, so it's not a total deal breaker if the manufacturer's system is difficult to use.

k00k I would love to see that too !
was considering this case, stumbled across this vid, im really impressed with this review, subbed, looking to more vids in future.
Looks like a great first attempt from Be Quiet. In order for me to consider one of their cases for my future build they will have to incorporate much better ventilation in the front and top of the case along with better cable management. I would also prefer a aluminium body.
that cast just looks amazing
finally it's here !! good looking, silent, solid build.
Not that expensive compared to a Define R4 when a third fan is added.
I wished they had equiped the chassis with 3 silent wings 3 for even more silent operation. I may replace the the fan at the back with my Noctua NF-s12A ULN, and add one on top to achieve a really silent system.
Looks like the perfect case for my next build.
Great reviews man. Hey quick question, out of all the cases you reviewed, which would be the quietest when filled with 6 7200rpm hard drives?
Basically, in 2010 or 2011, this case would be super awesome. Now, it is barely up to par in terms of features.
maybe is a revision, having a "performance series" of the case that includes front ventilation on the fan cover and a side panel window. more cable holes underneath the motherboard would be nice and perhaps actually lowering the psu and providing a shroud. also, triple rad support and the exhaust could have more ventilation that you could have the option to open or close, similar to the nzxt 810 switch. aside from the obvious standards enthusiasts expect, it's hard to expand on a rock solid design that does compromise features for the sake of silence, which be quiet! did quite well. but yall already knew that lol
i really like this black and grey case
i really like windows in cases
i want to show the window side panel in this beautiful case
I love looking forward to watching your videos, you always seem to give me ideas for new ways to deliver information. I loved the scene in a previous video where the mouse was dangling down, and text was motion tracked to it. I loved trying to recreate it. Here's what I got: Mouse Tracking Test

It looks good and it sounds good. I don't even see a problem with the price. There are a few things that I'd like to see improved, though.

i think it is well made , so you can have a combination of 2 3.5 HDDs(one in the bottom and one in the 5.25" slot) and 2 SSDs at the back
great review as always. It's just that the case is taller than regular mid tower cases and kinda weird front I/O placement.
The only thing I don't like on this case is the branding on the side vent covers it takes away from the cleanliness and I would prefer it to be flat but the option there is nice. Been looking for a great quiet simplistic looking case for awhile and this is a great option.

It's a nice first one :) If I buy SSDs they normally come with mounting brackets, so no issue for me. But is the side panel flexible, when it's all plastic? And don't forget you get 3 premium be quiet! fans. Maybe an optional windowed side panel would be nice.
Its so clean looking, wow.
I've been going back and forth between this case and the Define R5 for too long now... I just cannot make up my mind.
Cool hope they make smaller cases soon!
very nice - I'll watch out for a m-atx version, I have a very nice full tower atm and although it's not noisy there is something to be said about a quiet pc.
What kind of memory was used in the system build? Loved the glow they made.
I'm tempted by this case but I am unsure as to whether its gonna be better or worse than my Define R4 I have now. My case is old and the top of it has warped with heat. Im loving the clean look and orange accents. If it had a fan controller I'd be sold.
Get the define r5 its cheaper than this or the bequiet its a hard desicion
Are there any holdbacks for a first time pc builder? And with a water-cooled self build would you recommend doing my own water-cooling or not?
My cat would love that Power Button
I`m considering to buy this one for my new build.Wanted Dark Base pro 900 but the price is a bit too high for me
Little pricey for what you are getting but I REALLY like the look of this case. Could always use a window though ;p I'd probably go with silver if I was getting one, the orange just doesn't work at all for me.
Thank you, Black and Orange color for me.
Quite a nice case, water cooling potential perhaps not as great as it could've been, but still a great case.
It's like they expect you to throw your tech in the trash after less then a year.
should i replace my R4 with this case?, really liking this case amd its looks.
windowed version has finally been announced!!
Nice Case, I'd buy it well priced based on the features, thanks for the review
What monitor is that? Also, where do you get RAM that lights up? Do they have red/black color schemes?
I see a lot of people complaining about the pricing but I think they're glossing over that the case comes with actual good quiet fans and not what Fractal Design calls their 'quiet' fans.
I just bought SILENT BASE 800, and yes, this is gonna be useful in the future when I am gonna build my pc.... I like it tho!
Thank you for this video, highly informative. I was wondering how the hard drive were mounted and couln't find the information anywhere. Thanks again ;)
How does it compare to NZXT H440 and/or Fractal's R5? In addition, would case with a window panel be considered as more noisy than the one without a window?
+mementorequiem The window is a double pane so it shouldn't be a lot louder than the windowless
Bought this case! Cant wait till I finish my build!
Wasn't the mic placed much closer to the Define R5 in the ON/OFF part of the review?
I was hoping for a more equal comparison.
What ram was that?
Hi, just a question for the slient 800 and the GPU temps'
for 3 years I used the Nine-Hundred ANTEC, with a 780ti and during long gaming session, I've got 60c max.
Now with the Silent 800 I'm at 70-80°c is this normal ? Too hot ? :/
I'm buying It
damn, if only filter was accessed from the front, also cable tie points, 240mm rad at bottom and front, move drive cage nearer to psu. otherwise its really awesome with the noise channeling.
Awesome PC Case and review!
What fan did you have on the cpu radiator? I'm thinking of using be quiet! fans for my airflow and a single noctua in push for my h60
I'll be using this to create my game development and gaming rig.
Was going to buy however lack of watercooling options put me off
HardwareCanucks has always had fantastic background music. I have to ask, what song plays around the 4:50 mark? (If I ask to not reply with Darude Sandstorm, ya'll gonna do it anyways, so bring it on.)
Beautiful case.
What memory is installed in this system? I'd like to get memory with LED too.
***** Thank you! Unfortunately, there is no Avexir RAM in my local shops. Are there other brands with LED, preferably with blue one?
***** Thanks a lot!
Felis Silvestris I use crucial Ballistix tracer ram, looks sooo good in your system, especially if you have a window on your case. It's also very good at a price point. Would recommend 100% :D
What RAM is that with lights? never seen that before looks awesome
Pretty amazing but I'll wait for the second version.
Silent case reviews are so subjective. Just cause the microphone doesn't pick up anything doesn't mean I won't when I'm in a silent room with it. I have yet to find a case that could make me not hear a hard drive spinning.
when Corsair started making cases, they also choose the 800 as the first one :)
do you think this would be a good NAS case?
in the colored version they should add more accents. Like instead of having the orange around the front intakes, they should also have it around the squares on the side panels and maybe on the top and bottom covers on the case, going all the way around. Because seriously, the orange accents on the INSIDE?! there is no window, those accents should be place on the outside where the user can see them.
Careful, the new 801 model got rid of the drive bays in the front for DVD drives and such. I am not impressed with the build quality either.
Is the drive cage compatible with ones that come from corsair? Because they look really similar...
absolutely love it
great review
