This costs in my country $180 - $200 and I don't see it as worth the money, with $105 - $110 I can get the Lian Li Lancool 216 with the same features and better airflow due to 160cm fans.
Honestly, this looks like it's a longer, taller, and wider case than the 216, which gives you more options for bigger GPUs, a custom cooling loop, or a taller air cooler.

I recently upgraded my case to the black version of this case because I bought a 280mm AIO and it wouldn't fit very well in my previous case, the only option was front mount and lower than the CPU pump block for the rad. Big step up from the Coolermaster MB520. Everything fit really easily, cable management was really good, there is plenty of room on the back side for thick or layers of cables. As others have pointed out, you need an optional extra cage for 3.5" drives, but you can fit up to 2 on that removable panel where the RGB/PWM hub is, they include the rubber mounts and screws for it. You can also move that bracket down to a lower position, or have an additional one also. With the 2.5" SSD mount bracket you looked at, the SSDs actually go on the "glass-side" and cables feed through that plastic bit, so you can actually display your SSDs through the window without having to see the cabling. It looks pretty good actually, especially if you can colour code your SATA SSD with the rest of your build.
Good review Jay. But it's hard to justify the high price when there are similar options for half the cost from brands like Montech, NZXT, and Lian Li. I got the Montech air 903 max for just $75 on Amazon, and it's been great. Shoutout to Jay for the air 903 review that led me to it! Keep up the awesome work, Jay! 🚀

The black Anivia case I got is a little over 2 year's old now and it looks real similar (just without the rgb on the front panel). Running 6 140 fans in it.
Jay, why don't you start opening a case box by placing it upside down? Cut the tape, open the flaps, turn it upside up, and lift the box off the case. Up is Up. Nice case, I like it.
9:30 the only reason I like the individual front panel wires is because I NEVER hook up the HDD and power button LEDs. With this cable you have to have them hooked up.
I just got myself a pure base 500DX for 90 bucks. It has a some simmilar features but a really good HDD mount which i consider important since two HDD's can cause a lot of noise. Really happy with the case.
Finally a case from a Company that you can use right out of the box with quality fans with front filters under the fine mesh for better dust control or take them off for more air included. This case like all others design the top for dust control and the top should more open as it is almost always exhaust and I would just leave the fine mesh cover off or make the holes larger and cut out the under mesh. For me this is not quit my case for desk top as it is a little larger then needed and as desk top I like the I/O on the bottom to use like the NZXT H6 Flow is.
I am currently saving up for this case! Even though it costs $200, I don't mind investing in it because of the level of thought and care put into its design. What sold me on this particular case is the cable management system and splitter. The sound-dampening feature is also pretty cool, even though it might seem gimmicky. The best thing about investing in a good case is that it can last indefinitely, or at least until you decide to change it for a new aesthetic.
I built my latest Intel rig in this case with a top-to-bottom Corsair CPU liquid cooling loop (pump+res, 360mm top-mounted rad) and it was one of the easiest builds I've ever done. I can see exactly two cables: power to the RTX, and a single SATA cable, management is good enough to hide everything else. Air flow is so good, feels like a space heater under heavy gaming load, but I can barely hear a single fan. 10/10, would recommend.
I just finished my first build in this case. The fans are fantastic! Being installed and wired saved time and confusion. In normal operation I can't hear them at all. I had to keep checking that they were spinning at all. I ran Cinebench to spin them up to 100% and everything kept cool inside. No water cooler, just a bequiet Shadow Rock 3 CPU cooler (in white) is enough. Airflow perfection. No third party bloatware needed. Yes the manual sucks, I think they outsourced that because no German engineer would come up with anything less than a telephone book sized manual. That's why you didn't see how the drives would be mounted at the very bottom. That bracket is a throwaway that should have been included in the optional plastic slide in bracket.
I bought this case in black half a year ago and I love the RGB of the light strips and fans! Airflow is great and it's pretty quiet. Bad thing was that after a month or something that I bought the case it went on sale... plus the shipping fees were ridiculous. Anyway... much roomier than my previous case.
I recently built my first pc in the DF700 Flux. Found it after searching some reviews and liked the mesh panel design on the front for airflow. Plenty of room for everything and includes 5 fans for $100 even. This case looks pretty sweet too but I personally like the sleek black case look more.
I've built in both a Be Quiet and Montech case. They both get the job done if on a budget, but there were definitely differences in quality. I'll give Montech points for some nice creature comforts (like the top USB and aux covers), but it has thinner metal that sacrifices some structural soundness. I was actually worried mine was warped to the point of needing to send it back because only 3 of the feet would touch when it was fully torn down to start the build. It was fine once it was built and put back together, but that tells me the various panels were pulling things back into alignment. Don't really want to deal with a wobbly case during the build.
I got my case today. I bought the Corsair 4000D Airflow in White. I actually caught it on sale. Normally costs a bit over $100, got it for $89+ taxes. I’m planning to get enough case fans to not only replace the 2 it comes with, but to fill every space that can mount a fan. I’m also planning on configuring the airflow in a Positive Air Pressure configuration.
Built a new system using the 800 FX, it was indeed like you said, very very easy. Good airflow, very quiet even under full load. Pretty much everything you pointed out was right on. Thanks for the review!
I worked in a building that was in a very dry area. So I was constantly getting zapped by door handles. My tip is to take it on the knuckle. It barely hurts versus taking it on the tip of the fingers.
I'd just give it a good quick tap and be done with it, instead of gingerly touching it. I've worked with static generators in the lab and deal with static build-up on certain equipment...best to just get it over with quick, or use a grounded shorting probe if one has to.
or swap your rubber/manmade soled shoes for leather soled shoes, while rubber footwear makes good ground for electrical discharge static discharge is different. Leather soles negate static sparks
10:00 i love using HDAUDIO as its a combo jack which is easy to access (and for some reason in windows you can actually adjust mic gain which you cant do with a usbc->3.5mm)
Very nice - thinking of this for my new build, my only sticking point is the one hub, 1x RBG input / 1 PWM fan signal and having ALL the fans speeding up / slowing down, especially since I'll be running a 420mm / 14000k.
Love my case...a "Lian Li Lancool II MESH Performance" with magnetic/hinged tempered glass on both sides, magnetic top filter, and magnetic/hinged bottom doors on both sides; for full access to shrouded PSU and rear cable routing, etc. It came with 4 fans (2x140 + 2x120). Best part, it was bought used for $38 (locally) and is in mint condition!
Personally have the Pure Base 500 FX and was super impressed with the build quality and ease of building in it (first from scratch build). Also had the 4 light wings fans which makes the value great, and it fits a 4090 with room for the cable bend!
Hey Jay great video! That HDD bracket comes with the case but the cages are purchased separately for about $20 each and they attach using a thumb screw. They dont include the cages as most ppl don't use them anymore and this reduces the initial cost.
Got the blacked out Shadowbase 800 and went with a blackout theme. Absolutely gorgeous! German engineering is top tier Be Quiet makes awesome stuff that’s high quality
I only deal with duel chamber cases now. Just makes building soo much easier. I also don’t like cases that have the PSU shroud taking up soo much space
I bought the Pure Base 500DX when it released a few years ago, their first Case featuring mesh and seemingly going away from the all quiet from before and I honestly love it. Then Again. I'm a bequiet fanboy, my CPU cooler and my power supply are both bequiet and I never had any problems with bequiet products, the PSU is running for I believe 7 years now without problems.
As someone who bought a Dark Base Pro 900 Rev2 in the shadow of its discontinuation, I have to say I like what Be Quiet does. They strive to make quality and functional cases that are more than the typical boring Lian Li box. Long may they continue.
hey jay, if you know something is going to shock you, you can bend your wrist and touch the thing with the top side of you wrist and it wont hurt or feel like anything. thought ya should know! thanks!
If you want to stop getting shocked so much, touch your watch to a grounding point, such as a screw on an outlet cover. The static spark jumping across the body of the watch makes it painless for you.
I really want you to talk about, or do a pseudo watercooling setup. While you can imagine and see what to do in a case, once you start building in a case, you start realizing what is missing. Even doing a random assortement of putting a pump/rads/components will help a ton with how good a case can be in the worst case (custom water cooling). My case was one of the best cases for watercooling, and the thing that wasn't seen was how little cable space between the powersupply and pump location.
Got a black Bequiet Base 600. Very good case, good quality, no bullshit, no overpriced RGB in mine which I like and a decent price, good cooling options and everything fits. The other model did not have that magnetic mesh but a plate with 3 gap settings which is a bit a better for my use as well. I would never go for a white case though. This will be very discolored in a few years. I do like that they did so much work already for RGB lovers. The fans they supply are good quality as well. The one's coming with this years old case now are still at the top of their game. The black case still looks as new You need to slip the drive in another bracket which attaches to that bracket 90 degrees
Almost a year ago i was looking for a case that would fit a 4090 plus the cable bend. For no real reason it happened to be this one and it is by far the best case ive ever owned. Simple to build in, cant hear a thing from the fans and looks really nice when you turn on the rgb.
It’s a really awesome case. I also stumbled upon by accident because every other case came with RGB fans which I absolutely did not want. I went with the base 800 blacked out model. Absolutely brilliant. So damn quiet and keeps everything so clean. Just opened it after 7 months and still completely spotless inside
What you said about cases when they say they can support E-ATX really resonated with me because my first full custom build+water cooling I wanted to go big so went with the 7000D because it was big and said it could support E-ATX which it fits in but blocks being able to put the pretty cable cover thing on the side back on because of how tight that spot is with the big board. Would love to see a E-ATX build in that to see if it actually works.
I really like the way be quiet! does the accent lighting on their cases, when they have it. It's on the case itself and enhances the lines of the case. It doesn't look like an afterthought that's just slapped between the seam of 2 panels, whether it be a glass, metal, plastic, or a combination of materials. The ROG and Razer versions of the original O11 Dynamic XL come to mind, where they ran a vertical RGB strip between the glass and metal on the front side of the case.
I love my modded Corsair Obsidian Series 1000D Super-Tower Case and have built three different pcs in it. I have yet seen a case that I want to build in since I got the 1000D.
Having the black model, I can confirm that it was the second easiest case to build in. Even Easier than the Corsair 7000d airflow that it replaced. Also I appreciated the RGB controller, can cycle through the colour options, or with a long press let the motherboard control the RGB. And even (my favourite) turn them off. The fans are really quiet and effective. Normally I replace supplied fans, but this time around there was no need.
I had it because I wanted to have a 420mm aio... then I changed for the Deepcool Morpheus, more versatile and better GPU cooling, the screen is a bonus too
I love the smoke demonstration for airflow in your case reviews. Have you tried using a black background when doing this to better contrast the airflow?
It looks like the hard drive cages are missing which mount to the drive and have thumb screws to attach to the drive bracket you were wondering about. There is a similar setup in the current case I am using (Pure Base 600).
14:50 It includes the trays to attach SSDs, but the HDD trays are sold separately. Gone are the days when cases included the hardware to install multiple mechanicals HDs.
Uh...$169, Id rather get Montech AIR903 with $70-$80 AND a $100 decent AIO cooler (if I really want a mesh case) Or perhaps, get NZXT H9 or Montech KING 95 PRO for just the case with fans.
The difference is this case is coming with the lightwings fans, which for a 3 pack is 80 bucks plus shipping and taxes Idk what fans montach uses for their cases but I doubt they're as good as the lightwings
I love be quiet! stuff. Even though their cases and fans are kind of expensive the quality of their products really is worth the money. The Lightwings fans are awesome and my Dark Base Pro 900 R2 is such a sturdy well made case I just can't bring myself to replace it.
The HDD Cases needed to be bought separately. 4 3.5" HDD can be mounted but you need buy 4 cases for it (around 7 Bucks each) those cases slots in the Holding bracket, which can be mounted in the lower compartment and two can be mounted at the HDD wall. Thats one of the big strenght of the Be Quiet Cases. I got the First Be Quiet Case a Silent Base 800. And the Parts of the Silent Base 802 are still fitting to my Case. So i got literally now 10 years Parts support for my Case.
I have had this case since December and it’s great. Paired it phanteks 420 d30 rgb aio and the cooling is in insane. 7800x3d maxes out at 63c in 3D mark. And gpu (7800XT)with bottom fan usually maxes out in 3D mark at around 55-65c with a manually tuned OC applied. Great to see this video and would love to see a build in this thing!!!
This doesn’t look much different from most cases like the Lian Li 215 or Monatech. Moving buttons around, a couple different slots, or an extra RGB strip doesn’t impress nor innovate. You did a wonderful job if that matters!
I have 23 orders for this case in the space of 3 weeks. Alot of different componence in a lot of deferens way so it's going to be interesting If you Bould in it.
I bought one a few months ago, and I'm quite happy with it. I was wondering if I'm missing some components to attach my HDDs, but it seems it is an oversight from BeQuiet... Also because I still can't decide which cpu platform upgrade to my mobo was to old and don't have right connector to connect hub to I had to connect each fan directly to mobo but it was very easy to route cabels so you can berly see them.
15:02 there should have been those "standard" 3.5" HDD cages beQuiet has been including for ages now. They are equipped with the thumb screws seen in the manual, and will just slide into that bracket. Figure 1 on that manual page even shows the cardboard box where they are usually found on delivery.
A friend of mine have a PC with that case, the black version and it looks amazing. I was with him when he was building it and it was pretty easy, as Jay said. I actually wanted to use the same case for my build, but in some EU countries this case costs more than the MSRP. So I chose the Cooler Master Box TD 500 Mesh v.2 White (Master Master Box Master Cooler). That case (TD 500) have a removable top panel and it was very easy for me to put the AIO because I was alone and it was my first build. Thank you Jay, for inspiring me to build my own custom PC. Excuse me for my bad English. :)
I've been considering getting either the black be quiet! Pure Base 600 ATX Midi Tower Case ($110.38 o Amazon), which comes with two pre-installed Power Wings fans or the Antec Performance Series P7 Neo Mid-Tower E-ATX Silent Case ($74.99 on Amazon) with 5.25 ODD bay, 3x 120mm fans, and sound-dampening side panels. I'm no fan of RGB lights, so that doesn't interest me, though there seems to be more plastic parts inside this case than I'd like.
Weird called shadow base yet white.I have the Pure Base Window in Black. The only issue I have is the Hard drive mount Lip where the wires come through should be taller so the Wires do not get Crimped . I love the case, This specific case I can purchase the Open Front panel with LED for about $50
Good day from South Africa!!! I love how Jay says the Cases are boring but the goes to make a very compelling case for the case and his excitement back in the day was the reason I got my Corsair 5000D xD Thanks for you commitment to the PC community and keep it up guys!!! PS Phil we need more vids from you!!!
Had to look it up. Good thing you can move that bracket the fan hub is on to a different position altogether. Though a bit annoying that its all prewired.
I just did a case upgrade to the DX version of this case in black and i really like it. It was easy to build in and its a massive improvement over the hotbox that was my old case.
My favorite case so far is still Corsair 4000D Airflow. I haven't found one that comes close to that yet in term of the design, simplicity, cost, and just the airflow. I don't have to think about the fan design because it's just 3 in the front and 2, top and 1 on the back and that's it. I don't like those cases where they mount 9+ fans with sides and bottom and it's just killing simplicity of it. And the airflow is great because they basically have airflow from top to bottom and front and back. It's just triangles see through holes everywhere, and it's great. The PSU shroud is also not blocked either. I don't get cases where they have a sealed off PSU shroud. The only downside I would say is they only come with 2 pre-installed fans, so you just have to spend some extra money on some fans and swap it out and it's great. I just use those Thermalright TL-C12CW-S X3 CPU Fan 120mm White ARGB and it's great. You buy (2) sets of those and it's only like $30. It's fantastic.
Love bequiet products, currently doing a build for a friend where i got him a dx500, dark rock 4 and even the heatsink for ssd :D In my own build i got a dark power 13 and 7 light wings. absolutely gorgeous products and so quiet :) The shadow base 800 white is such a nice case aswell. Looking forward to the next video.
Can confirm BeQuiet cases are great and their service as well, using the full tower from a while ago, I wonder though what should I use for my next build which is upcoming? I'm guessing I need great airflow (Live in a hot country) but still quiet case (Audiophile)
The hard drive mount is probably the same as the dark base 900 pro, they use a sled style mount that the hdd slots into and then is attached to the bracket. It comes included in the 900 pro but seems silly it is not included in this.
2:15 no, dark base 701 is smaller than the Shadow Base 800, the Shadow Base 800 fits 420mm radiator top and front and the dark base 701 does not, 701 is more premium, as in you can invert the case upside down, but it's still smaller
On the 4 fan headers... I changed my aircoolers front fan to a lighted version and it was nice having an extra header.. wasnt this case or brand. But having that spare header was thoughtful
Since I bought all of my PC components and later ran into the issue of having not enough CPU Tower cooling clearance, I am a beginner builder, therefore messed up about 2mms of clearance, whereas I had to buy me a new case, which I didn't want to do at first. I had to find a very big case in order to fit my noctuah cooler, now my initual impression was, that I wanted to get the be quiet 800 dx, but it had smaller only 180mms of cpu cooling clearance and the Pure Base 500DX had 190mm. I went for the Pure Base 500DX my system is working fine now, but seeing this HUGE CASE in that review, makes my heart shatter :(
I would like to see you building a custom loop water cooling system in it while maxing out the radiators in the front and top. I consider buying this case for my son and putting 2 420 or 360 radiators in. But I don't really trust the manual.
Thanks Jay, it would be cool to see a full build with new case or product reviews maybe themed or color match i.e. white case white mobo, white gpu, etc. Appreciate the content!
I'm sure the sound is pretty great in it, I have a 500DX and when I have 3 fans plus a cpu air cooler on my PC doesn't even sound like it's on even when gaming.
I got the 700 black model for my wife. Loved building in it. Loved everything about it. Except, my wife keeps her case on the left side of her desk, so she cant see any of the insides!! I should have gotten the 800 model so I could have made it a left case. She doesnt mind, thankfully, and eventually I will get the left case and steal hers for my own.
I still want the Lian Li O11 Dynamic EVO XL. I’m not ready to do another build yet but until something better than that comes out, that’s the case for me. It’s so gorgeous.

Its "special" here in NZ $328 when the Lancool 216 is only $132. 2.5x the cost for a fan/rgb hub?
If you can’t afford it it’s not for you

Saving up $200? How old are you?
Bought a montech air 903 max white for $70. Looks good and easy to complete the build.
I used it on my personal machine and put an Arctic III 420AIO on top and everything runs cool. I really liked this case.
Having parts in a case is its own bottleneck.
Built a new system using the 800 FX, it was indeed like you said, very very easy. Good airflow, very quiet even under full load. Pretty much everything you pointed out was right on. Thanks for the review!
Did you connect your cpy cooler to the fan hub?
@@tonysopranosleftnut no, to the mb
@flaco111 Thank-you. I have one more question if you would be so kind. How do you sync the cpu cooler fans with the case fans if they are rgb?
@@tonysopranosleftnut my CPU cooler is non rgb
Looks good Jay! I hope your health continues to improve! Much love Jay!
Got the black version of this months ago for my son, it's a great case 👍
I worked in a building that was in a very dry area. So I was constantly getting zapped by door handles.
My tip is to take it on the knuckle. It barely hurts versus taking it on the tip of the fingers.
I'd just give it a good quick tap and be done with it, instead of gingerly touching it. I've worked with static generators in the lab and deal with static build-up on certain equipment...best to just get it over with quick, or use a grounded shorting probe if one has to.
There are clothes, that are anti static.
or swap your rubber/manmade soled shoes for leather soled shoes, while rubber footwear makes good ground for electrical discharge static discharge is different. Leather soles negate static sparks
I just hold one of my house keys and touch that to things I suspect will shock me. That way the electrical arc hits the key and I don't feel a thing.
I love Be Quiet!'s Design philosophy, I got the Shadow base 800 without the rgb, the wings and the Pure Loop 2 aio as well.
10:00 i love using HDAUDIO as its a combo jack which is easy to access (and for some reason in windows you can actually adjust mic gain which you cant do with a usbc->3.5mm)
Love more mesh airflow focused cases nowadays. BeQuiet! makes very good fans, so getting 4 is awesome. That alone is a lot of added value
Purchasing an 800FX for my upcoming new build. Thanks for reviewing and solidifying this case as the best choice for me!
Hey Jay great video! That HDD bracket comes with the case but the cages are purchased separately for about $20 each and they attach using a thumb screw. They dont include the cages as most ppl don't use them anymore and this reduces the initial cost.
It would have been cool to see a build inside that case...
Turn the hard drive sideways for the bottom harddrive mount
Got the blacked out Shadowbase 800 and went with a blackout theme. Absolutely gorgeous! German engineering is top tier
Be Quiet makes awesome stuff that’s high quality
Have an older be quiet cases, looks the same and has been great for the last 5 years
I only deal with duel chamber cases now. Just makes building soo much easier. I also don’t like cases that have the PSU shroud taking up soo much space
I'm not a fan of how wide those are.
I bought my last PC case in 2013... CM Stryker. Will never need another case. :D
I do like the diffuse lighting on this one.
Would be interested in a video review of the Project Zero Case from MSI and Project Zero B650 motherboard from same company.
The black case still looks as new
You need to slip the drive in another bracket which attaches to that bracket 90 degrees
I have the big case which looks almost the same but bigger. Silent Base 802, love this case 😊
I have the same case, also modded, It's a very special case.
Got a shadow base 800 myself, brilliant case.
all black cases for the win
@@buff9267Yep, that's the one I got, I'm too old for all those silly 'go faster lights'.
When you do smoke tests on a white case, use a colored light (like red or green) so you can see the contrast.
Curious about the bigger case now 😁 can’t wait for that video!
My wife got me one of these for birthday last year. A black one. Awesome case. Lots of airflow
I had it because I wanted to have a 420mm aio... then I changed for the Deepcool Morpheus, more versatile and better GPU cooling, the screen is a bonus too
Still rocking my dark base 700 white edition. Love it.
"Dark" Base :)
What I really need is BeQuiet to make a server case on par with this.
check out the silent base 800/801 it supports E-atx etc had an 800 first love dit so much when 801 came out bought that also. awesome cases.
I love the BeQuiet cases because they are so easy to build a system in, I've got the older version of this the 500DX which is really nice.
I love the BeQuiet stuff.
I love be quiet! stuff. Even though their cases and fans are kind of expensive the quality of their products really is worth the money. The Lightwings fans are awesome and my Dark Base Pro 900 R2 is such a sturdy well made case I just can't bring myself to replace it.
I wish there were more white motherboards.
Man, I'd like to see you do a white build in this case. My favorite new case is still the Montech King 95, but this is really nice as well.
I love how Jay says the Cases are boring but the goes to make a very compelling case for the case and his excitement back in the day was the reason I got my Corsair 5000D xD
Thanks for you commitment to the PC community and keep it up guys!!! PS Phil we need more vids from you!!!
...everyone who waited for Jay to get shocked during the unboxing. You are my people.
U have to buy a separate tray for the hdd mount
Had to look it up. Good thing you can move that bracket the fan hub is on to a different position altogether. Though a bit annoying that its all prewired.
2:00 😂 i heard the tiking sound
I just did a case upgrade to the DX version of this case in black and i really like it. It was easy to build in and its a massive improvement over the hotbox that was my old case.
When he said that all the fans will go WHEEOOO together, I thought it sounded quite fun, literally like fans cheering at a stadium X'D
It's fantastic.
i have the 800DX and i reallly like it. Its so quiet.
Keeps everything clean inside as well even when running fans at top speeds
Love bequiet products, currently doing a build for a friend where i got him a dx500, dark rock 4 and even the heatsink for ssd :D
In my own build i got a dark power 13 and 7 light wings. absolutely gorgeous products and so quiet :)
The shadow base 800 white is such a nice case aswell.
Looking forward to the next video.
Can confirm BeQuiet cases are great and their service as well, using the full tower from a while ago, I wonder though what should I use for my next build which is upcoming? I'm guessing I need great airflow (Live in a hot country) but still quiet case (Audiophile)
Maybe use a planar laser light for the smoke tests, should work like a charm and look cool
But having that spare header was thoughtful
hay jay , there is uv reactive dye you can add to the smoke ,with blacklight/UV could help the visal greatlly
But I don't really trust the manual.
i like the omniums box called "not 4090" in the back
Thanks Jay, it would be cool to see a full build with new case or product reviews maybe themed or color match i.e. white case white mobo, white gpu, etc.
Sorry Jay, you told me to get the MONTECH KING95 and I have been lovin it.
