    I have to confess, when I first saw this brand new 2022 EGO 56v battery powered string trimmer - I couldn't believe my eyes. I was holding the string trimmer that I would have personally designed given the means. The good news for all of us, is all you have to do is head to Lowes to become king of the string trimming heap...
    So here are some of the amazing features of this battery powered cordless 16" string trimmer so special: carbon fiber shaft, auto line feed - Line IQ, auto line and string load - Powerload (rapid reload), quick adjustable handle, 2 speeds, brushless motor, 56v 4ah battery, NO BUMP HEAD!!!
    Make sure your check out this test and review and find out what you will be spending your money on this spring!!!!!

    Last week we got the 21 inch 56v mower, and it outperformed my expectations on all levels because I was skeptical of battery powered mowers. Today we got the trimmer, and it proved to me that Ego is the real deal when it comes to the quality and performance I’m looking for. You can’t go wrong with them!

    For the last 18 months I've not let the lawn crew edge or use a weed eater in my back yard. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG I didn't like the fact that they just kept cutting the edge of the lawn further and further from the rock lining the flower beds and leaving bare ground. And the grass was trimmed or scalped several feet around trees, etc. It was a constant battle with them so I told them to just mow and no trimming. I have Zoysia grass so it grows pretty slow. Obviously after a while it could use some trimming. I'm in my 80's so I can't do much of it myself.Finally I decided that if I could find a lightweight battery powered trimmer I might be able to do some light trimming. I decided to buy the LST201 20V trimmer. And it works great for my needs. I have back yard with about 150' of flower beds and several trees to be trimmed. I can lightly trim the whole yard with a single charge! The grass I trimmed was only a few inches high but the trimmer was more powerful than I expected.

    Just purchased this literally 30 min ago lol seen your video for the aluminum model for $199 and went to get that one but then seen this one at lowes and watched your video inside before pulling the trigger 😅
    my front yard has a nice retaining wall with stone that we just build and I have the issue of the line always breaking because it is hitting the stone when I’m trimming the edges. I can’t get the edges of the grass with my lawnmower because it sits nicely leveled with the wall. Thank you for testing it on pavers and showing the line IQ! Only thing I needed to see to buy haha! Thank you 🙏🏽

    I just bought this machine at Lowes (before seeing your video :) ) based on the reviews of other buyers who also swore by it. I already have an EGO 530 cfm blower (amazingly, at mid-power, plenty of power even though they make several bigger models) with a 2.5 AH battery and the 210 W charger but wanted to get the bigger battery for that to extend it from 45 minutes (at mid-power) to 1.25+ hours (I have a 500 foot long driveway under trees and more). Based on Amazon and Lowes prices for the 4.0 AH battery ($229 although Lowes says "unavailable" presently) and 310 W charger ($129), this EGO 1620T model trimmer is FREE at $299 plus you save $60 on the battery and charger! And, if you have a Lowes card, you get another 5% off. With the trimmer I got one hour on my first run at the lower speed setting but had so much power that I never felt the need to use the higher one. The IQ works great so far.
    I have a Husqvarna commercial grade gas trimmer since I have 2.8 acres, probably a hundred trees that can't be mowed around due to roots and live in north Florida where you could trim most every week for 70% of the year. The gas trimmer is amazing as it's a tank and I can run it for 5 or 6 hours straight without overheating it (unlike a Troy-bilt I had one time that burned up after a couple of hours). That said, I sometimes just want to do quick trims around my home and out-building in between my usual semi-annual full trims. Hence, this purchase. In one hour it did far more than just the buildings so I did some trees, a heavily vegetated ditch and edging too. Would estimate it is good for at least 1/2 acre with no problem. Also, given my property size, I wanted the 16 inch cut vs. 15 inches or less. This machine also takes .095 string (14 feet at a time per the owners manual) vs. 18 feet of .105 for my Husqvarna. Some electrics take .080 which I felt would not cut as well and feed more often.
    Then I tried the 4.0 AH battery on my blower. Not only does it last much longer than the 2.5 AH but the blower is perceptively much more powerful. I have read that going to 8 AH batteries on my 20 V DeWalt tools has the same impact vs. the lower AH batteries so that is something to consider when you add batteries.
    I wasn't bothered by the weight and believe it is the same or less than my gas trimmer. It is also well balanced with the 4.0 AH battery. My wife also thought it was fine. Guess it is what you are used to, in part.
    I did consider the well rated Greenworks PRO grade trimmer (with 80 V, 4 AH battery + charger) on sale at Costco later this week for $220. If price is essential, this would have likely been my next option. Hard to beat a Costco deal if they have what you want - always a great value regardless. For me, I wanted badly to add the EGO 4 AH battery for use with my blower pushing me more in the EGO direction aside from the high regard for this model.
    Electric tools are hard to beat today vs. corded or gas tools unless you work in the commercial/professional world and use the tools 8 hours a day. The battery and tool technology is really advanced. Did you know the EGO batteries actually self manage themselves to extend their lives? After 30 days of no use, they automatically drain down to 30% plus they self protect from overcharging and over-discharging. I believe DeWalt batteries at least do the latter, too, plus can regulate their power flow to tool demand to extend usage time.

    Thanks for the video. Before EGO, for 10 years I had a Black & Decker telescopic trimmer that has The Automatic Feed Spool - AFS with no bumping required feature and loved the feature even though the loading of the string cartridge was not always smooth with the loading spring likes to push the cover housing off just like the non-Powerload EGO trimmers. When I switched everything to EGO to keep the battery management simple the Powerload feature was a nicer feature; however, both the Power Head with the trimmer attachment and the carbon fiber units are still too long for me to operate comfortably.
    Originally I was hoping for EGO to make a carbon fiber telescope unit so it would be lighter than the aluminum telescope unit from last year like the current carbon fiber unit (7.05lb) vs the aluminum unit (7.3lb) ; however, this new unit is actually 0.1lb heavier (7.5lb) vs the aluminum telescope (7.4lb). Am I disappointed? Not at all because now they added the Line IQ to the head of the new trimmer. I also have the Power Head Multi-Tool with string trimmer attachment and that configuration weights 9.3lb without the battery and has no Powerload feature which is very cumbersome and heavy to operate comfortably (I am looking forward to purchase the newly demonstrated snow shovel in the very near future to replace my single stage snow blower since I have the 2 stage unit now).
    Lowe's/Rona in Canada is very slow to add new EGO products since none of the newly announced tools like the blower, trimmer, Zero Turn, LED lights and fan are currently listed on their website since the announcement. I look forward to use this new trimmer when it becomes available in Canada. Thanks again for the excellent demonstration of this new trimmer.

    Just got to your channel and love your content! thank you. I am in the market for a string trimmer and i always had a stihl gas (larger property). I just moved to a smaller house with much smaller yard... not much at all (small front and back). I am looking into the EGO, but just curious your thoughts on the newer Line IQ vs the slighly cheaper one without line IQ? for $199. The $199 is 2.5amp battery, but does still have the 2 speed and power load. So basically for the extra $100 you get the Line IQ and 4amp battery. do you think it is really worth it if you have a small yard? I wil also need a 'blower'.. no trees around my property for tons of leaves, just blowing some grass clippings. thoughts? Thanks.

This line IQ is slow to detect and release, they should of put a button. The auto feed is okay but not game changing. Carbon fiber is meh okay. I use to have a Ryobi extend it and loved it til it died, only lasting 2 years. I find that this new line IQ is harder to edge compair to other brands, thats one reason I am returning it next week. It also seems just as strong as my old ryobi, which isnt say much since it cost 2x more.

IT GETS TIRING, AND IT USUALLY LEAVES A "SCALLOPED" SPOT ON THE LAWN!! AND I DON'T MIND PAYING EXTRA TO NEVER HAVE TO BUMP FEED AGAIN!! WITH THAT, AND THE EASY-LOAD STRING FEED, I'M ALMOST IN TRIMMER HEAVEN!! ( almost!! ). YOU ASKED US TO LEAVE ANY IDEAS WE MIGHT HAVE; WELL, HERE'S A TINY ONE : HOW ABOUT A HELIUM BALLOON TO CLIP TO THE HANDLE TO TAKE THE WEIGHT OFF YOUR ARMS?? I'M SORRY, BUT I MISSED HEARING YOU MENTION THAT THIS DAMN THING WEIGHS IN AT 15 POUNDS!! MORE THAN DOUBLE THE WEIGHT OF THE 15" UNIT!! THAT'S TOO DAMN MUCH!! IT'S 3 OR 4 LBS MORE THAN ANY GAS TRIMMER I'VE EVER OWNED!! WHY?? THE AUTO-FEED HEAD CAN'T BE THAT HEAVY?? AND THOUGH THE BATTERY IS ALMOST TWICE AS BIG, IT'S NOT 3 OR 4 TIMES HEAVIER THAN THE 2.5 BATERY, IS IT?? THAT MUCH WEIGHT IS AWFUL TIRING ON A HOT SUMMER DAY!! ( even with the strap, its still must be heavy swinging it from side to side!! ). DO YOU KNOW IF THERE IS ANY WAY I COULD BUY JUST THE AUTO-FEED HEAD FROM EGO, AND IF IT COULD BE FITTED TO THE 15" MODEL?? IT WOULD HAVE TO BE A MUCH LIGHTER SET UP!! THANKS KITEMAN!! I like that the head has fewer parts so I think in that respect more reliable - EGO to this point has made great products so I can't imagine this would be a problem

    The only thing missing is the 90° turn to turn it into an edgwr - like the WORX.!!!
    My last 32V trimmer died - found a brand new one recently - tool only - already have the batteries and charger.
    IF the EGO had a rotating head, I'd be SOLD.!!!
    Got the 2021 mower - not going forward until a rotating head on the trimmer.!
    I've contacted them - maybe you have more pull.!!!

    • @Kitearmy
      @Kitearmy  2 роки тому +1

      I have no pull - not sure I need that - i see that on small tools. I just rotate the trimmer in my hands. BTW I work with worx and this smokes anything they make - although they make smaller stuff

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What 2 роки тому +1

      yes, so is the Black & Decker; however, since the handle has the quick release now it's just as easy to release, rotate and lock the handle in 180 degrees as to flip the WORX or Black & Decker. If it really comes to convenience, the quick release handle can be purchased separately as a service part to be installed facing the opposite direction of the original one. The quick release handle does fit all the new and old EGO trimmers even on the Power Head Multi-Tool unit like mine.

    • @ski6345

      I don't know about the quick release but I do know that I do like the rotating head. Everything stays the same except the head rotates.

      I trim for someone and the asked me to use their Worx trimmer to edge. It works surprisingly well. I've gotten pretty proficient using a Stihl kombi as an edger but I don't mind using his Worx trimmer to edge good driveway.

      @@traviswhitworth6506 The Worx do okay in small areas because they are so light - not great run times though
