Interesting alternative, but the Ikea Vesken is right now $12.2+$4.6 delivery, not having to do anything but pick up the package where I do my daily shopping. Since it takes 2-3 minutes to assemble, its too cheap and easy, and also black like my heart OR white like my consciousness. But if they go OOP and the replacement are the wrong dimensions I will try and find this kind of video for sure! I fit about 90-100 drivers into a Vesken, and mixed about 70-80 discs (4 levels) :D
I built this as well, needed some tools to cut some of the piping but was fairly easy
I got the Whitmor 8-tier shoe rack from amazon. You only use half the shelf rods for discs so it becomes 4-tier and each tier holds about 50 discs. On each tier one shelf rod sits lower than the other so I have to use one hand to grab the disc I want and the other hand to keep the surrounding discs from coming out too but if I turn the rack the other way and put it against a wall that's not a problem
PVC pipe and fittings are Legos for adults. Lol.
I used an old 5 tier bookshelf from Big Lots ($30) then I made disc shelves out of PVC on each shelf to keep the discs stable. Worked out well. I even made PVC stabilizing racks for inside of my cheaper disc bags. It was quite fun actually!
