I remember perfectly, It was on the Stephen Colbert Show, a bit in which Stephen goes to New Orleans to meet Jon and his family. Everything you do with your music and entertainment is absolutely fantastic and it is accepted with open arms and we appreciate it and we want you to keep performing so we can keep playing your music extremely loud and make people smile. It pulls people out of a funk every time I play something! God bless you and this is absolutely hilarious. It’s real. It is absolutely perfect, God bless from my family to yours❤

Yeah, and he is a genuine person, with almost too much talent for one person. I love all Jon's songs. Always gives you a biggest smile, and good mood for whole day. :)
Amazing energy! The new 20s have officially begun.
I have NEVER listened to a piece of music with a big smile on my face the entire time! Bless you and everyone in your life that helped/guided you to get here. Unfortunately, only after you won 5 Grammys I found you. So glad I did. Your music gives us hope to keep moving even during such difficult times. Thank you, Jon 🙏🏼. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife. ♥️
Lastly… your laugh/smile is so pure and infectious. Congratulations! You are a true artist!
This is exactly what my husband and I said too---the joy is what we all need right now, it does encourage hope.
I just "found" Jon Batiste - grinning from ear to ear!
This song definitely put a smile on our faces today and we love seeing Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz being used more in the mainstream media
That dance form needs to be restored but I'm guessing it's pretty hard.
@@carolmiller5713 It never truly went away (though it wasn't in the public eye) and it's very much still on the go! :)
@@carolmiller5713 It's actually not that difficult to learn! If you search your city and swing dance or lindy hop, you can find a near by scene and check out their beginner class (post pandemic of course). It may feel a little weird at first since it's new to you, but stick with it and soon you'll be able to do a lot of the moves in this video. Depending on the scene, you probably won't see any aerials though as those are mostly done for performances.
@@steelcityswing thank you, I will! Looks like fun?
Wow! I just found this by accident! Wow again..... I love the low parts!
I was actually studying when i stopped here😅 and i do not regret lol
if you haven't heard more of johns stuff, i totally recommend :) glad you found this!
Same here! lol

Sameeeee, first song as I opened UA-cam , meant to flicking be 😩💕✨
Jon emits SUCH true kindness-you feel his soul whenever he speaks to us/Stephen. The new "Covid" format ( on A Late Night) has allowed more of a spotlight on Jon, and encourages Stephen to chat more thoughtfully with Jon.
Here's to much deserved success for this "Music Man"-he's a prodigy that somehow flew under the radar for MUCH TOO LONG. The world needs Jon and his soul to heal now. "All we need is a little lovin"
Whether it be from the loss of a loved one, to job loss, hunger, dealing with long hauler effects from Covid to paying monthly bills, house/car payments, rent, student loans, medical bills, insurance-Jon knows how to reach me on and heal the soul. He's a whiz. Magic. Blessed. Piece Jon. Hope this catapults you to the moon!! ✌️ brother!!
TRUTH!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️
John Batiste, happy Thanksgiving 2024 from Madison Wisconsin. I’m a big fan of yours as are my three daughters. I work with UW at stadiums and play your music as often as I can get away with really loud. It is awesome. it is proper. It is beautiful. It is fantastic. It is spiritual. It is uplifting and you know what it’s anything but BS! It is just simple and nonpolitical and I love it your smile, your energy, your enthusiasm.
Men like this exist on Earth so we know there's good in this world.

Of course they do. Most are happily married!
So true, he is awesome....

Yep, that’s how I ended up watching this gem.

After listening to this song at least twenty times, I've deduced that the only problem with it is that it's too damn short.
we all knew Jon Batiste was an absolute king but who told him he needed to go this hard???
Agreed!👍🏾
Jon Batiste is an uncomparable artist! Love the rhythm and vibe. Dancing in my seat! ♥️🎼🎹🎶🙍♀️
Jon Batiste goes to an art show and hears the music in the paintings. I love the way this man sees the world!!
CONGRATULATIONS on your Album of the year win. AWESOME!!!
He didn't "win"...that was rigged we allll know it.

Jon batiste’s dancing is so joyful! His joy is contagious.
I can't help but think that Jon's spirit is what we need more of right now.
I need him in my life because he's just so genuine
JEN YOU IIIIIIIIINE
Jon is such a genius with the piano and music in general! Love to watch him on Stephen Colbert. Now I see he's not only gifted with instruments, but he sure can move too! To. Awesome performance! Wish I were that young again and could move half (1/4th) like that!! Keep it up! Wonderful!!
I’ll never forget the time he spotted me in the crowd vibing n he did a lil fist bump to me and my friend Jane. Made me blush. What a sweetie 💞✨
Jon is a class act!
Find you a man who randomly starts dancing in an art museum and never let him go.
and introduce him to dad ? nope thanks ....
Samantha, you know what's up 🙌💃😆
@@Aja.S You haven't been in true love yet, it'll come.
Indubitably! Neither hell nor high water could loosen my grip. Hold fast to anyone capable of radiating such irrepressible light. Jon is a firefly; his flight is the speed of sound and his dance an illumination of pure joy.
I started dancing randomly in the middle of an art museum and I met a man that wouldn’t let me go... that man was simply known as Art Museum Security.
He started looking nerdy and ended up way cool. Shows you don’t know somebody til you do.
Bruh there wasn’t anything nerdy about him in the beginning lol he looked like a ball of sunshine the entire way through
This sounds like the opening song to a great 2000s tv show
A bit like Even Stevens or something similar :)
When life makes sense. Battling cancer, still courageous, You are an immense inspiration to me. I lost my husband, but you are my hope. Please continue to be our hope
Watch this for the joy, watch it again for the love.
I think that I will lovely ♾️💎💫😎
We done a lot of living
We working overtime
Don't need another million
You got that gold mine
I love the way you're livin'
'Cause you so genuine
You got that something special
Didn't you know?
I just need you, you, you
Met you when I was a lil' nappy head boy
And I never put down my alto saxophone, yeah
Buckjumpin' down on the boulevard
I couldn't wait to blow my own horn (woo!)
It ain't wrong for you to play along
Playing this song 'til you die, come on
In this world with a lot of problems
All we need is a little loving
Thank you, thank you, oh, you make me
Thank you, thank you for your love

I love the way you're livin' (hey)
'Cause you're so genuine (genuine)
You got that something special
Didn't you know?
I just need you, you, you (come on, now!)
Met you when I was a lil' country boy
And I never put down that pork chop and salt
Then we fell in love on the boulevard
If you was Jenny, I guess I was Forrest (run!)
Nah, it ain't wrong for you to sing along
Singing this song 'til you die
In this world with a lot of problems
All we need is a little loving
Thank you, thank you, oh, you make me

Brilliant! Thanks for the lyrics, now I'm rocking out loud :D
When someone says multi-talented this is who I think of.
Donald Glover comes to my mind, but I see your point :)
This video is in itself a little romance. I like the location and the story told in it.
OMG a complete, delightful surprise! I cannot believe how amazing this was: Jon's voice, dance moves, and overall talent are incredible! You've been holding out on us, Jon, but here's to a brilliant future. I loved this ❤.

Is this not one of the most cheerful, energizing happy-making songs of all times? I just found it yesterday and can’t even tell you how many times I have listened to it so far. I dare you to try to listen to this without feeling happier!
Jon Batiste is pure joy!!!
I literally could not stop smiling this whole video.
Someone: "Blues music is not for this generation.
Jon Baptiste: "Hold my beer" 🍺
I'm betting COVID is going to bring back the blues for a lot of people...
Lol right
Dontcha mean sweet tea? (Or mint julep). 🤗
i wouldn't say this is blues. but its great either way!
@@Chair400 - yeah - don't detect any blues. a little jazz and swing in there. Has a bit of Janelle Monae (Tip on the Tightrope) and Outkast in it. 🤗
Jon Batiste, truly a blessing to the world... sharing his endless positivity with all of us. Thank YOU!
I've watched the late night talk show hosted by Stephen Colbert for a long time. Mr. Baptiste has been the show's band leader for many years and that is how I've heard of JB. Sometimes I wish the show would hi-light his talents more but I'm sure the audience gets to see and enjoy it during a commercial break. The man is AMAZING.
I really really wish they would show those, I bet the band is slapping HARD each night
I have been in New Orleans, it was exactly like that in one of jazz clubs. I dropped my jaw. it was so dazzling:) Thank you Academy, you gave Grammy to a right person this year!
I was born and raised in New Orleans, and I second this.
I am a New Orleans Native as well & I have Loved watching Jon for many years & he always delivers!!! This Man is truly Blessed!!!
...And which club(s) would you suggest in New Orleans???
@@peggymcdonald2677 Any one where locals go, not in French quarter 😀
Man, never stop making music. Never get stressed if you don't get the amount of views or money you deserve because sooner or later, success is bound to chase you with talent like this.
Dude, he's the musical director for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He has played with Stevie Wonder, Prince, Willie Nelson, Lenny Kravitz, Ed Sheeran, and Mavis Staples. Success has not only "chased" him, it has caught him and given him a big sloppy kiss and a hug.
you do realize this video has over 5 million views right? ;) that seems pretty successful to me
he did all the jazz music for Pixar/Disney's "Soul" as well
and now he has a golden globe, and is well en route to the Oscar 🔥
He is AMAZING!! I’m 68 years old and never knew who he was. I LOVE HIM!! Wrote his name down so I can play him on Alexa!!! He makes me happy & want to move! Thank you Jon!!♥️♥️🙏🙏
I guess you've also never watched the Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
He's great. I could understand why you think he's been around for a long time, classic timeless music and all. He's a millennial though. My age I think.

What a treat for our ears and eyes! The Lindy and jazz dancing was 100% authentic.
