Some of these hacks may be what the pros use but I had never heard of most of them because I am not a professional baker. The crumb coat thing is an example. Some pros do it but most home bakers don't and get crumbs in their frosting.

Its essentislly let's you know if the egg has gone bad, as when it starts to go bad gas is produced and it will float. So if the egg sinks it's okay to eat, if it floats in the middle use it very soon and if it floats at the top bin it :)

And if you look closely, the new egg was lying on it's side while older egg was standing upright. Which is the progression of eggs. Fresh eggs lie on their side, old (but not rotten) eggs stand upright, and rotten eggs float. So the hack did exactly what it should have, they just assumed that the expired eggs were definitely rotten. 🙄

I started seeing Rie since recent videos so it's interesting seeing that she keeps using the hacks she learned, like the knife in cold water one and that paper with butter
The cake release works best when used in a buntt pan. Especially the complicated ones. Be precise about getting in every detail and it will release perfectly everytime! The liquidness helps fill in details better then just butter and flour or Pam.
The egg test in water really does work pretty well - the way it's supposed to work is that if the egg is kinda old, it starts to balance on its end underwater, and when it's REALLY old it floats. The "older" eggs here probably just weren't that old, but if you'll notice, it DID bounce more and sink more slowly, which indicates that it's older!
You have to soak the baking strips in water for 10-15 minutes before using them and then wring out some of the extra water before it putting them around the outside of the pan. I usually let it soak while I make the cake batter. I use them whenever I make cake and they work wonderfully when used correctly!

Eggs last past the expiration date listed on the package so the egg probably wasn’t old enough. That hack actually works lol I use it all the time.
Plus, if you're making something like meringues older eggs actually work better, apparently.

Also the paper towel jack works after the frosting has started to set up a bit, if the frosting is still very wet then it won't work. I use that one

The cake release works best when used in a buntt pan. Especially the complicated ones. Be precise about getting in every detail and it will release perfectly everytime! The liquidness helps fill in details better then just butter and flour or Pam.

The egg test in water really does work pretty well - the way it's supposed to work is that if the egg is kinda old, it starts to balance on its end underwater, and when it's REALLY old it floats. The "older" eggs here probably just weren't that old, but if you'll notice, it DID bounce more and sink more slowly, which indicates that it's older!

When using a paper towel to smooth use a non patterned roll and a fondant smoother. It does work.
You have to soak the baking strips in water for 10-15 minutes before using them and then wring out some of the extra water before it putting them around the outside of the pan. I usually let it soak while I make the cake batter. I use them whenever I make cake and they work wonderfully when used correctly!
