The floating egg test is amazing though.
Your older egg just wasn't that old. Fresh eggs sink quickly, older eggs sink slowly and stand up, super old and probably expired will float.

Jiayi Li hacks are more efficient or easier than the normal way. Like how separating egg yolks with egg shells is normal, but some people find it easier to use a bottle. But some of these “hacks” are just the proper way of baking (like the crumb coat), so not all of these are hacks

Yeah, I use this too. I cracked open a rotten egg once so now I use this whenever I have expired eggs.
And if you look closely, the new egg was lying on it's side while older egg was standing upright. Which is the progression of eggs. Fresh eggs lie on their side, old (but not rotten) eggs stand upright, and rotten eggs float.
So the hack did exactly what it should have, they just assumed that the expired eggs were definitely rotten. 🙄

The egg float trick is mainly used by people who have hens and find eggs in a nest they didn’t know about to see how long they have been there. It does work if the egg is REALLY bad because it’s been outside in the hot weather . The reason this works is because the egg has evaporated in the shell.

The egg test in water really does work pretty well - the way it's supposed to work is that if the egg is kinda old, it starts to balance on its end underwater, and when it's REALLY old it floats. The "older" eggs here probably just weren't that old, but if you'll notice, it DID bounce more and sink more slowly, which indicates that it's older!
