I said it once and I’ll continue to sing this tune. GameStop is about to corner the Pokémon market and manipulate the heck out of it. Since GameStop is listing a card for $1000, other sellers are going to feel like their exact same listed card is undervalued. GameStop will just have that type of leverage in the market just because of their name. GameStop is going to try to control prices of individual cards and they already are.

Well all I can say is that it is for sure going to fail at those insane prices. No one buys a PSA graded card without having some knowledge about the product they are looking to buy, and without an understanding of where they can find a better deal. The argument could be made for some cards that "oh well a parent could come in to maybe get this for their kid that loves Pokémon, because of the wow factor," but no parent is going to walk into Gamestop, see a $1000 card and say to themselves " there's my kid's Christmas Present" unless they are like part of the top 1% of wealthiest people, and lets be honest, those people don't shop at a Gamestop. If Gamestop wants this to succeed their prices have to be competitive, a little more for convince maybe, but competitive. Honestly, these prices are just a insult to everyone in the TCG collecting community's intelligence, and it is more likely to drive our community away from buying anything from them, than bring them in. I mean who wants to go into a store, see the card they have always wanted, and see it marked up to the moon and back?

@NegativeBananya What adult is going to spend a $1000 on a slab they can get for $300 though? If i got $1000 to spend on a slab i'm gonna spend it on a slab that is worth $1000.

Gamestop can list their cards for however much they want. It's up to the consumer whether or not they want to overpay for a card. Someone can list a basic pikachu card for $1000, doesn't mean someone will buy it
Also, gamestop (as of last friday) has 2 billion dollars in cash and little to no debt. And they just achieved profitiability last quarter (after a corporate turnaround that has been taking place for 3-4 years). They are going to be around for a decade+ AT LEAST unless the management team wants to do a complete pivot away from this. That's just the facts of the matter based on the balance sheets. Don't believe the FUD around this company. They have a long legacy of bullshit, i agree, but that is slowly changing because all of the people pushing their policies have been ousted. They are aiming to make positive changes. Why doesn't anybody know about these things? Why would such information be suppressed? Good question to think about.

Plot twist. I saw a video where you did the same thing to Opassum Bud. Thought that was very interesting.
This looks like 2 things:
1) a long term play where the price will eventually meet the market in years to come, a sort of investment that GameStop would take to keep afloat
And 2) this looks like a hint to something bigger we don’t know about concerning price point and graded cards. A lot of fishy stuff is happening with eBay and PSA, wouldn’t be surprised if GameStop had a secret deal or inside information on what’s to come with the prices of popular cards once this fusion of companies happens.
Either way, sealed product is the new and safer opportunity at this point. So that’s where I’ll be.

Glad you got the strike removed from your channel! If GameStop starts accepting PSA submissions a lot of middle man graders are in for a world of hurt since GameStop is a much more convenient option. But it may end up hurting PSA a lot as they would lose out a lot of PSA grading subscriptions. Will be an interesting story to follow

I talked to a Gamestop employee. He said the training is joke and wish they didn't get into the "card" game. These people are not even paid enough to begin with and now they have to be trading card experts. There was a binder of Pokémon holos and reverse holos for sale on the counter.

Unless GameStop actually makes a huge enough dent in the market to affect prices/supply, people shouldn't lose sleep over them not having training, them selling too high, buying too low.. you don't need to give them your business if you don't want to. 1k slab that actually costs 300? Just don't buy it. If it is a last ditch effort on their part to stay relevant, let them try, I know it seems like a hard hitting expose but it really seems like hype for contents sake 🤷♂️ but more power to you and others who can extend this issue across 30 videos reporting on each item sold/bought, each mistake made etc

@@DrApplesauceTwo it was in test stores longer then that, since i only learned about it two weeks ago. Then it just hit my store this week. I know stores in my district still won't be doing it for a while. I heard about this the end of April / start of May. Started doing my training courses the second week of May and then training videos last week and this was the first week it went live in my store. So this program has probably been live for probably a little over a month and a half now.
They're basically becoming the Walmart of the LGS world.

I'm curious if gamestop is buying slabs according to the price they are selling the slab for or the price other places are selling it for. If they buy a card worth $330 for $300 then it makes sense why they would list it for $1,000. But are they buying it for $160 then listing it for $1,000? That is crazy. I think gamestop has a big learning curve and who knows if they learn before they run out of money.

Facts bruh. I'm glad they took the strike back but at the same time I am worried for what they're planning. It seems very nefarious. And nothing good can come from it if they hike the prices up. It's just going to hurt the community 😞

What I’m worried about like you said if they are taking in almost half a million cards a month will they have a stranglehold on the market so now that psa 10 is going to be $1000 because GameStop says it is and best case scenario in a year when GameStop goes out of business and everything is 75% off we are gonna get a steal on these cards but only time will tell

I’m pretty sure they are gonna fine tune on how everything is gonna go with the cards and how they will buy and sell and if they need to hire people and pay them more to protect themselves and make money and not get scammed . No, you’re not understanding. It’s not about weather video SHOULD have been taken down, The strike already REMOVED my video, there was no fighting if it was going to be removed or not. The video was gone. My only option was taking GameStop to court. Over a video that brought me $60 in revenue? Only a fool fights battles that are impossible to win and not worth the prize. Live to fight another day.

This is what happens when a huge corporation tries to meddle in a niche market that takes a ton of tribal knowledge. If Gamestop wants to tap into collectibles, they should just expand their retail offerings.
Anyone who still uses Gamestop to sell stuff to deserve to get scammed by them. It's well known that they low ball the shit out of you and then resell it for 10x what they bought it off you.
Only ever buy new games off them or when they do the GOOD sales of pre owned, then go for those. Otherwise, use other avenues to buy/sell
that is what is called being a business, maximizing profits. Do you want to make $50 profit or $100 profit?

I think this is a bad move for gamestop to buy and sell graded cards. They wont buy any card over $500 but till sell for 300% more than the value of what it is worth. Told to me by a gamestop employee
Yea, that was one of the things they stated. So, interesting that they have a card listed for $800 and $1000, and we know they won’t pay over $500 for anything.
