Sir...you are my hero!!! Plagued by this issue for years and it just started killing my battery again!! It was between your fix and the dude who breaks the sensor with a screwdriver. I went right out, bought a can, and BAM it worked!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing!!
MR HUGHES!!!!! In August 2024 I was having trouble with 2020 ford F150 passenger door that was clearly closed, but still had the warning light on and courtesy lights on. I had to disconnect the battery every time I turned the ignition off. Then I viewed your video… it worked! Used about 1/2 a can, working the latch and waiting to let the film dry. About 15 minutes later, I came out to start the truck…no warning light! You are THE MAN!
I have a Ford Edge 2012. First owner. I don't even know where to start thank you. God bless you bro. Maaaan I've had this problem for years. Mind you, I had it replaced the first time, but then the new part started having the same problem too. Out of frustration, i removed the car door lock indicator lights from the fuse box because i couldn't leave my car parked out at night specially in random places with the interior lights on. Yet, i never found a solution for the alarm noise and that was driving me crazy and making even the shortest trips unbearable specially if there's a traffic jam cause the alarm goes off everytime my foot comes off the brakes. Anyways long story short, i saw a video of a guy that broke off the lock once and for all and i was contemplating on doing the same thing right then! Luckily your video was up next, and i am soooooo glad i watched it!!!! I bought the same spray can, sprayed the fuck out of it aaaaaaand then SILENCE! It was Fixed. Thanks dude! I recommend everyone try this out first before doing something irreversible!!!
I am happy to hear it man!! I know the struggle and was on the hunt for a solution. I felt pretty dumb posting ht video but happy I did it with so many people it helped!
Well, Update now that it has been about a year. Her car is still rocking and has not had the issue resurface yet. I have had a few people comment about it not working. it was a simple cheap first option and I was fortunate it worked for this car. Thanks for the feedback people!
Nick Hughes, you are a gentleman and a scholar. You have quite possibly saved my marriage and have definitely saved me $430. I tried wd-40 weeks ago and it did nothing. after applying the electronic cleaner and opening and closing the door about 50 times, the door ajar warning finally turned off on my 2013 edge. Now I won't worry anymore about my new battery dying, or listening to that annoying "dooDOOdoo. dooDOOdoo." warning sound every time i come to a stop.
I wish I have seen this video before I never took the time to fix this because it'll go off on my car "2013 ford edge as well"🤷 but thanks for the info I won't be hearing that stupid warning either 😂
I just want to say thank you for making this video. It has saved me from going to a ford dealer or a local mechanic which I know would cost me around $300 if not more. For over a year I've been having this problem with the door ajar signal keeps popping up and my alarm would go off sometimes when I park my car . I went to the store the same evening after watching this video and let me tell you, no more door ajar warning lights and alarm never go off again. Thank you very much.
A $6 can saved me a $600 quoted repair! I went through 3 batteries in the last two month because of this! God bless you for uploading this quick, cheap and easy fix! 😍😍
Worked for our 2013 ford edge, went years trying to figure it out, having to get new batteries sometimes twice a year. Saw this video and fixed it in minutes. Both driver side doors had the same issue, the front was a quick fix. Rear door was still showing it was open but after a while the door ajar went away. Very very very happy
Dude! You are a genius! Mine is an 01 Ranger XLT 4x4...same issue just a week ago for the first time. Your inexpensive, logical genius helped my issue without any breaking the circuit by snipping wires or installing a switch. Thanks....rock on!
Just used this quick fix! Like you I tried lubricant spray as well as brake cleaner. Saw this video and immediately went to the store to get a can. Worked like a charm. And just in time, I just replaced the battery in the vehicle yesterday. Thank you!
Thank you sir, between the 8" inch screen going out and the drivers door ajar problems, I had just about given up. Bought a new screen with the APIM at the junkyard for $12 amonth ago and it worked! JUst 2 days ago the door ajar light started giving me problems, including the alarm going off twice in one night, I needed to fix this fast. Watched your video and your method worked like a charm! Thank you for sharing this video!
I had to give you props. I bought a can of the electronic cleaner (actually cost more than $3!); however, I sprayed. Didn't see results immediately; but, it has eventually seem to do the trick. My last couple cycles of entering the vehicle were without incident, with no light coming on. Cheap fix compared to those quotes. I appreciate the tutorial!
Worked for a week. I also noticed that on my 2011 Edge, the door was slightly sagging as well. I believe that contributed. So I am in it $130 and replaced both hinges and the mechanism.
Bless you dude, this same thing happened to my 2012 kia rio sx front and back passenger doors at the same time, got the same can from Walmart for $9 and no more problems. Thanks for the video
Thank you so much. I just got a quote today for 300-400.00 this is how they make there money. I knew there had to be a better solution. You’re video was right on time.
Ohhh man, I cant wait to try this. Ive been screwing around with my 2012 edge driver door issue for almost 2 years now. Tried wd40, and other lubricant sprays that work for about 2 days. I will report back once I test this out. Thank you!

I tried the WD40 but it does not work well because it is a lubricant and it worsens the situation, it is best to use an air compressor to blow and clean and then use the spray shown in video (the electric cleaner spray) Thank you so much!!
thanks good insight .... i ended up fixing my moms edge ...but i replaced the latch on my 07 escalade parts were 40$ for the escalade .....ps the edge has a little white plastic switch that you can move manually with a screw driver to cycle it and clean it.

The latch should release when you lift your door handle as if you are trying to open the door. If not, then when you lift the handle, use something to help it release at the same time. It could be that the mechanism is clogged with debris.
Had tried penetrating oil but no luck, it took quite a bit of cleaner and cycled the lock many times (20-30?) now it works! Gave it a light shot of silicone spray afterwards. Hope it didn't undo the fix.
Thanks for this! Giving this a try. I have a 2013 and mine does the same. MAKING ME INSANE! There's a recall for my vin but Ford says it's only going to pay for drivers side NOT back rear. Now my engine stalls or loses power while driving and throws ZERO codes. It over heated recently and check engine light never came on. No one can help me. I've researched for a month. Cleaned throttle body, checked spark plugs and so on. I'm about to lose my mind! And my camera is randomly upside down now. Any other random tips??
If I had to guess, I would clean or replace the hood ajar sensor located right next to the windshield washer resevoir. I little rubber nub. It may be going bad ir have depris in it. It can cause alarms to go off with the slightest movement.
That model of cleaner that particular bottle is not $3 it's $11 so that leads me to believe that you are not entirely telling the truth. How I know it's $11 is because I bought some and did the very same thing and it did not work. So I think you got lucky. Now what I did do that did work was spray PB blaster penetrant the same way and it did work. Only a temporary fix but it did work.
I fixed my car with a water bottle cap duct taped to the car door thing that contacts the doorjam thing that tells the car computer that the door is closed. Today, my old car had a dead battery. Yesterday, i washed it. Coincidence? Today, the door ajar light came on and would not stop until the bottle cap. It was an idea found in a question forum
I am having the same issue with my 2009 Ford focus, i am excited to go try this cause the door ajar noise its so annoying. I will let you know if it works
Didn't work for my 09 edge. Drivers door ajar light on constantly. Had to disconnect all dome lights so battery wouldn't die. Finally a fix. I took the green/violet wire that goes to the latch(there were like 4 wires, the green/violet is for the drivers front door. Cut the wire, splice it, and run it to one of the 10mm bolts holding the inner panel in for a ground. Just touch the bolt with the wire and u will see the door ajar warning go away. Basically cut the wire, crimp it to an extra piece of wire to give it enough length to reach one of the 10mm bolts
Hi there, just thought I would ask for an update. I am thinking of getting a '13 Edge and want to see if this is a viable fix for this issue. The quotes that I have gotten to repair this issue from the dealer ranged from $350 all the way up to $500.
Me too! I'm in the market for a new compact SUV and I love everything about the Edge, BUT saw all the info about sensors going crazy. Is this a viable workaround that lasts?
@@jacarafoss4379 this is a common issue with FORDS,, my bestfriends 1st car was a 2005 Ford escape limited(this was in 2014) and the door ajar light never cuts off, i researched consumer reviews and found out its COMMON with ford suvs of the 2000s
I have a 2013 ford edge sel and I've had the same problem with the back door light cost me alot of money for a battery everytime.so I used this recently and no problem with the issue .
I have a '13 Edge... The backup camera goes out (common problem from what I've seen) and it is an expensive fix, so I just do without now. Then there is the door sensors going bad (I am about to try this fix, but if it doesn't work then I will break the sensor). Ford doesn't seem to stand behind their vehicles. Every Ford I've owned has had a lot of issues.
Did you follow any safety precautions for eyes or skin while using the spray? I've always been told to take safety precautions when using spray cleaners.

Any ideas on a 2007 Ford escape factory alarm always going off?
Lord Thank You Good Sir!!!
Hi, could you explain me how you did it ?
I am having the same issue with my 2009 Ford focus, i am excited to go try this cause the door ajar noise its so annoying. I will let you know if it works
did it work?
Been looking for a solution on my Ford fiesta 2016, will comment back on the results.
Right on, let me know how it goes.
I will have to try this out!!
Thanks for the info. Has the same problem. Tried wd40 but wouldn’t work
Well, WD 40 has a lubricant in it... maybe try it with a cleaner instead?
Thanks Nick, I'll try it too, ford dealership quote was $400.00 to replace the part
I hope it helped out!!
Worked for me too!!!! omg ty!!!!!!
I'm happy it helped!!!
Don’t do it! I’ve had nothing but problems out of my 13. Complete waste of money and actually Ford did a recall on this and I missed it
I have a '13 Edge...
Im sure he tossed on a condom while spraying those doors!!!
