    Duncan’s definitely one of the best catch and shoot players today, but Miami’s entire culture and coaching staff definitely played a part in helping Duncan get the confidence to be the shooter he is. PS I like your vids Coach Nick and I started making NBA videos too😬

    • @DrawingTheDefense
      @DrawingTheDefense 4 роки тому +6

      A big part of it is he is now constantly aggressive hunting for his shot, but when the defense contests well he bails out of his shot by passing to his big. It’s covered in this video:
      Duncan Robison - The Reason the Heat Have Unlocked His Game ua-cam.com/video/1x_kYA9Y63E/v-deo.html

    • @AbdFattah
      @AbdFattah 4 роки тому

      He always seems to release his ball a bit too early, but I think it's because he's taller at 6-8, so he doesn't have to jump that high to shoot perfectly.

    • @rahe2141
      @rahe2141 3 роки тому

      It was crazy to see how the heat comforted him so that he could do so well in the last matches of the finals, as he was playing really unconfidently for the first 2

  • @bobsmith2335
    @bobsmith2335 4 роки тому +77

    Another thing the heat did was make him shoot. Two things happened, if he passed up a shot his teammates would scream all at him. After they screamed at him spo made him run laps.
    Then after practice for every shot he passed up they made shoot like a hundred 3 pointers for each one he passed up.
    The culture is turning him into a killer. A pure sniper and the run to the finals this year is going to pay hugh dividends .
    Dunk is going to be unstoppable now. He basically has a green light to shoot from any time and anywhere.
    Let's go heat!

    From what I've seen, I think of Duncan Robinson and Davis Bertans as the next Reggie Millers/Korvers/Redicks of the NBA. Specifically with Robinson, where he's sprinting AWAY from the rim off picks WITH THE BALL...that's some 'next level' streetball shooter stuff. I love how he's weaponized the pump fake/shot pass off the dribble, passing straight back to the big then moving to space (given his defender bit the shot fake). Beautiful shot form, quick release, great shooter's mentality, creative play designs - the Heat have turned this man into a defense scrambling machine.

  • @jaddytheteenblogger
    @jaddytheteenblogger 4 роки тому

    I used to model my shot after Korver and JJ, but seeing Duncan's smooth jumpshot, I had to adjust it. While Korver shoots very smoothly, his release point is fairly high and JJ's is also smooth but its a little more 2 motion but with a very fast blend. However Duncan's is unbelievable accurate. There is very little dip and its collar aligned to the basket and its one motion. It's a lot like Steph but without the low and shoulder aligned shot load.

      I think 3 of them made it to the NBA. Moe Wagner and DJ Wilson definitely played with him and Caris LeVert I'm pretty sure played while he was there, he may have played there while Duncan was sitting out his first year there

    • @scratchpenny
      @scratchpenny 3 роки тому

      Yeah, a lot of those guys made it to the NBA but hardly any of them is having the impact he's having. LeVert being the exception. The other guys ride the bench. Still a really good team to produce so many NBA players. They should have won a national championship IMO.

    The scouts generally miss everything when it comes to drafting good players. They always look at physical traits and have no concept of a players actual ability to play the game. This isn't limited to basketball, it happens in every sport. And its also not just limited to guys they draft, but who coaches decide to put on the floor or give touches to in games. I think there are tons of players who would do well but are never given the chance because they don't fit the mold that 'experts' are looking for, and conversely there are lots of guys who stick around forever being mediocre because they do fit that mold. I've seen it my entire life, both playing and watching the NBA.

      Miller is more athletic though so it works more for him. The Heat plays are tailored to fit for Duncan already. It's just a matter of him getting more experience.

    I thought he wasn't very good in college his last year. The heat needed a shooter and they developed him. Better coaches and video teams make the difference in this case

      His team won two banners and made the National Championship game that year though. So I don't think it's the coaches as much it is the amount of time spent.

    • @supune
      @supune 3 роки тому

      @@tiniestmite8145 agreed. Some players really do spend time on school work. And at a big time college where he wasn't the top player, he didn't get the resources he got with the heat. maybe getting to the g league and having coaches hone in on what he does best and encourage confidence was all he needed to become this good as a super shooter.
