Greg nailed it on being compared to Braden. Fletchers sophomore seasons numbers were far better than sophomore season numbers for Sasha, Ryan Cline, Ryan Smith, Dakota Mathias, etc. None of them were double digit scorers both of their first two seasons. Braden being so good just makes Fletcher look “bad” in comparison when really no one expected Braden to be this good at this point when he came onto campus at Purdue.
We've gotten used to freshmen that can play right away but that used to next to never happen and guys just didn't play until they were jr's and sr's. It's abnormal to be more physically advanced than your age. It's nice, but that isn't everyone. The fact that he's been 'servicable' as a very thin fr/so points to him being very good the next 2 years.

This is such a dumb podcast topic. Do you really think 2 months is enough time to put on substantial weight as a 19/20 year old. He will put on weight and it’s actually good that he’s skinny for the way he plays.

Purdue is probably their biggest fan base, and the off-season is the off-season.
The Big Ten is their bread and butter.
It's a legit topic of discussion even going back to last summer. Fletch doesn't look big, and the way he plays it does look like he could use some extra weight to avoid being pushed around down low. It's mostly ridiculous with a little truth to it, which is the perfect storm for controversy. A lot of Purdue fans need to stop dogging on Fletch

My advice for Fletch, which he didn't ask for, is to simply PLAY stronger and stop flailing around like a soccer player. Man up.

I guess you all forgot Jim Rowinski, went from a skinny walk on to Big Ten player of the year at the 5. Sure Illinois fans remember him. He was built like a brick house his senior year. Even hung in the NBA for awhile, Purdue has always been know for its efforts in the weight room. Plus I've seen guys built like Fletch kick major aas on big guys.
Rowinski had to have been on something. His transformation was mind boggling.
Loyer is not a scapegoat for intelligent Purdue fans.
At that age gaining weight isn’t easy..muscle tone is easy. For bulk he’s gotta try to hit max weight in the gym often.

bingo.. exactly --- its hard to measure how D-1 shooters get their shots off--- so much quicker and athletic than just a good player-- and it shows up in the box score from age 10 to age 22

I have also seen players bulk up and loose their shooting touch. Some of them couldn't touch their shoulder with that arm. Give criticism after they have played. Rember they don't draw pictures, they keep score!

When i was that age i couldn't gain weight no matter what I did. Low body fat but can't gain weight could be genetic.
There should be a stat of # of times Fletcher hit the floor last year , he always falls !

Fletch is a killer and will start next season. Again, he shot 45% from 3 (and 49% in conference!!!) and I would emphasize your point that people are overlooking his chemistry/experience with Braden. It would be great if he looked stronger but some guys have a lot of trouble putting weight on. It’s also still June! I’m glad more “prominent” Purdue people are coming to his defense because he does not deserve this level of vitriol. Or any vitriol- let’s not attack our players online 👍🏻
My son and I are built exactly like Loyer. Extremely difficult to have a ripped upper body.

As a Purdue fan, that's an absolutely retarded take. Someone who clearly can't see objectively. I'm actually a big Loyer fan, but if we had Knect instead of Loyer, we likely beat UConn for the National Title. Again, I love Loyer and think he's good at times, but he's not comparable to Knect.
