Gideons face as he was helping plant the trees was priceless. He looked so happy. Maybe he will become an arbourist or tree warden, or park ranger! It was lovely to see him so connected, and those fruit trees will pay back over and over. I'm jealous.

Peroxide, baking soda and dawn detergent will go a long way to eliminate the smell on your dog. 1 quart of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide, • ¼ cup of baking soda, and 2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap. Ingredients must be mixed in an open container and used immediately. (for your size dog I would double or triple it.) We used this for our German Shepherds and it helped so much.

You stumbled on a little known secret here Janice. I picked this up from a Popular Science Magazine 40 years ago. Yep, they knew about stuff like this back then. After extracting all I can through steam cleaning I will saturate a solution of peroxide with baking soda. That means keep adding the stuff until it doesn't disolve anymore. Then apply (I use a pump sprayer) to furniture or carpets that have organic issues of this magnitude like spots from a organic life form.
Used in the final stages of cleaning, what isn't flushed/rinsed after that point will have the free radicals in their molecules ionically bound by the residual as a bug in amber as it's sealed so that it's no longer free to interact with the environment.
      I clean windows too.

Think about adding a few ornamental "Snowdrift" crabapples as they are great pollinators for every apple tree!
Although they don't have fruit, their blossoms are very hardy with a Bloom time that typically overlaps all of the fruit bearing trees. The pollinators in your area will fly from the Crabapple blossoms and pollinate the other apple trees. Besides, the trees when they're more than five years old are one of the most beautiful blossoming trees that you can imagine. I have planted them in our Orchard and I swear we get at least 50% more yield since then. No, I don't sell these trees nor do I have any interest in them, but they have been really great for us.

It's not a good idea to take a lgd off property and Pyrenees and Pyrenees mixes should keep their coats as protection against rain, sun, etc. It's also hard for lgds to trust anyone outside of their family so even the mobile groomer who used to take care of Teddy might have a hard time just bathing and brushing Winnie.

We would run the generator to fill the water tank, water the garden, vacuum, and watch a vhs movie if there was time. Once the tank was full the generator was off. Quite the adventure with kids ages 11, 12, 14.

Jonah, when I broke my saccrum, it was really hard to sit down. I eased into a chair so slowly. A year later, I could still feel it but was plopping down into chairs, so it does take time. That was 3 years ago. If I think about it, I can still feel that bone. Makes me wonder, do we just get used to the damages we do? It's true, when the barametric pressure changes, we feel that in old booboos. This is the Time in your life when your older self would say "if I had known about these aches n pains, I would have taken better care of myself". Take care! Love you all.

Love all the fruit trees and berries. We had a 1 acre fruit orchard plus oranges, and a small row of grapes 🍇. We also had a garden about a 1/4 acre garden. I loved pulling up carrots and walking over to the dairy barn and washing them off and eating them. Fun, fun days. When apricots and figs were ripe, we had green and black figs, I would tell my dad when they were ripe and we would go stand out there and eat fruit until we were almost sick. Good times.
You have those times now with your kids every day and that makes me smile because it reminds me of my childhood and I'm old enough to be your mother, I'm a grandmother.

Bathe her in tomato juice- just go get multiple big bottles of it asap. Wet her down thoroughly and saturate her in that juice. It has to get all into her fur. Let it sit then rinse. Do this two or three times. She ll still smell but not nearly as strong. Maybe at that point give her a doggy spa day and let the professionals take care of it. This smell will stay on her for days and days if you don’t deal with it. I had a dog that chased every animal that came into our yard. Skunks were often those she chased and the tomato juice was only thing I found that worked enough so she could be around us without us gagging!!!! One night she chased a skunk. I was out there in the night dealing with that. Got her bathed and relatively dry. Made her a bed in a spare room where I could shut the door but she needed to go out to pee and don’t you know she got sprayed again!!!

    Good job!
Yesterday while working I was suddenly wondering why i didn't see anything from you guys for a longer time. For a second i was affraid something is wrong, because you had been sick back in the day.
Well, i realised i got a new Account, Problem solved. 😄
Happy to see everything is going fine over there.
    Best regards from a german mini-Homesteader. 🤣

Its amazing the problem solving you put into the farm and teaching the kids how to figure out stuff along the way. Great job everybody!
That rock feature really looks like a lot of fun too.

You need to make yourselves ram pumps. Simple plumbing, with no electricity and you have the elevation. They will work a dream. The boys can make them as a project

Wash Winnie in 🍅 soup. As bad as it was for you, imagine how that poor pup is feeling.

When I saw the container I immediately wondered just how hot it would get in there at certain times of year. Hopefully all moved in before then.
You need to buy some of that stuff as seen on TV called Pooph! Evidently it even works on skunk smell.

How cool would it be to GPS/GIS map all the important things on your property like the fruit trees location and type and all of your water lines and where the valves and shutoffs are etc.

Justin use vinegar and water to get rid of skunk smell. It works better than tomato juice.

I am glad you were able to find where the water line was separated before the snakes are out and about!
