Canada decriminalized abortion in 1969 and amended that Act in 1988 to make sure that a woman’s constitutional right to security of person was protected. Give women the right to choose! It’s their rights
And having universal health care means Canadians are free to quit their jobs, go back to school, change careers, start their own businesses, pursue their artistic dreams, etc., without losing their health care, which is what makes them far more free than any American who's stuck in their job because of their benefits.

It's a crime to cross state lines in order to commit an unlawful act. Human life is considered under the jurisdiction of the state so the state has a responsibility to protect it. Maybe you never noticed, but criminal cases are always the accused vs the state. Not the accused vs the victim.

Being a man in his 60's I remember when this in 1973, as I was in highschool. I remember cheering because I was so happy for American females. How can a man tell a woman what they can do to their body....🤔
I know, I was in high school then as well, and we really thought things would continue to get better - from abortion to Title 9 to the ERA and beyond! But the ERA died and we women are still earning a paltry 59 cents for every dollar a man earns, and women are still in a tiny minority in Congress, in the courts, and in most professions.

No government or religion should ever have the right to rule over one's body or mind.
For centuries in Europe abortion was punished as a crime, and it was therefore practiced in secret, most often at the instigation of the adulterous father. The decriminalization of abortion is a recent development, and there is no indication that it is a fundamental “human right”. It's just that the “right to life” of the human fetus is not recognized by everyone.

Miscarriage medical care overlaps with abortive care. Neither the public nor government is qualified to dictate how medical treatments should be applied to medical problems. Unless we want to see 25 yo mothers dying from ectopic pregnancies, miscarriage complications, or a hundred other serious medical events stemming from pregnancy, everybody but the woman, her partner, and her doctor need to stay in their own lane. If they want to champion the lives of infants, they need to get involved with foster care and support services for women.

But criminality is far lower that in the whitest state of the US. Check the murder rates. And that french farmers are upset has nothing to do with migrants. Migrands are those, just like in the US, who harvest the fields. They are upset because of the big food corporations who dictate the prices . And of course because of some corrupt politicians in the EU who let cheaper food with lower health obligations into the country. I am a Canadian woman, who is aghast at the current anti-abortion regression laws in the US. My question centres on the absence of men. Where are the men? Abortion causes death every single time without exception. So you defend the possibility of death verse the absolute death, you lost that argument hands down.

How narrow minded it was of Alito to say that "WOMEN are not without electoral or political power.” Plenty of MEN also have voted in favor of abortion rights and will continue to do so. Not because their own bodies are directly affected, but because they believe it is right. It seems Alito cannot even conceive of that possibility.

My friend had a much wanted pregnancy that became unviable. She heartbreakingly had to have an abortion. We need to stop referring to this as a “choice” and thinking of it only as a woman choosing to stop her pregnancy.

My question: Aside from religious reasons, is there a reason to outlaw abortion. In short there is no medical or viable ethical reason, without relying on religious underpinnings, to outlaw abortion. If not then this is a religious decision, thus violating the separation of church and state. Further denying folks the ability to travel for an abortion is a violation to the right to freedom of movement. Why have these aspects not been addressed?
If I, by my actions assist someone to harm another person, I would go to jail. Why aren't the SCOTUS judges held to this same principle, because they have harmed many women by their actions of changing the law?

Restricting travel is illegal no matter what the states have passed because what their residents do out of state is none of their business (unless they are planning to overthrow the government or some racketeering actions)! Let's go back to the 1970s and 1980s when the states didn't have a uniform drinking age! Kids who were 18 or 19 and lived in a state that had an older drinking age, went to the states with a lower drinking age, and as long as they didn't commit DUI or OUI, they were able to enjoy their drinks in another state!
Even today, where Canada's drinking age is 18, college kids go there to party (I've seen ads on campuses to go to Canada and the ads stated that the drinking age is 18 there)! As long as the kids don't drink and drive (same with those who are legally able to drink in the USA), it's not a problem! The same principle applies to health care, and it's the overreaching fascist governments going way too far in exerting their power and it's all about control!

Religion has always been a part of the US and its where they got a lot of their morality for their rights. Its why public schools used to have Bibles, its why our pledge of allegiance mentions God, its why they talk about the rights as being God given and not man made.

Travel restrictions, for any reason other than through bail conditions or incarceration, are l unconstitutional and against Supreme Court precedent. Abortion travel restrictions should easily be struck down for that reason.

I was in early twenties when women across the nation were allowed the choice to abortion. Prior to that ruling of Rowe vs Wade, many women died or made permanently in fertile when they looked for other means to abort a pregnancy. They were done, the majority of the time, performed in unsterile conditions, some of the people who provided this procedure, where not qualified to do so and it was usually botched. This caused serious complications post procedure of uterine perforation, infection, partial expulsion of fetal remains, etc. As a Registered Nurse who worked for many years in a surgical setting, I assisted many surgeon in such procedures. Even though, being of a religion who doesn't approve of abortions, as a Christian, I know we were given freedom of choice, and I don't have the right to forbid a woman's right concerning their choices. This decision by the Supreme Court will ultimately put us back into the middle ages of feminine repression, and many women may die or be permanently unable to procrate, all because of a decision that was politically manipulated by zealots.
