That f150 is a beautiful truck.
You'll have to remove the distributor and disassemble it. You'll need a hydraulic press to remove the drive gear. The distributor pick up coil is going bad. The problem is it's mounted on the bottom half of the distributor. So that's why you have to disassemble the distributor, before you remove the drive gear you'll have to remove the drive pin that prevents the drive gear from spinning on the shaft. I would also replace the TFI module mounted on the left inner fender with a good used MOTORCRAFT only one from your local junkyard. Brand new TFI modules have a high failure rate. You'll have to remove the transmission inspection plate to verify the correct part number torque converter is installed. The ignition only needs a new key tumbler. That's easy to replace just turn the key to the on position and then push the lock pin in with a scribe or something similar to release the key tumbler -- do not force it out!!

That pickup is worth every dollar you put into it ! Its a clean body with more class than any old school truck . The two tone paint is the character of the truck . Enjoy your new ride and just get the whole steering column replaced . Also get the transmission that belongs in it . I think the converter in the truck is the key why the trans is messed up . Whoever replaced the trans new the converter wad the wrong one and saved it to fix the problem ? Just my two cents thrown in . That is nice enough for your neighborhood to still look professional . That's why I voted for it . The duelly would not be appreciated in your neighborhood . spend the bucks . it will be around longer than you and me . I'm 62 . seats are nice and its a genuine survivor like us !
I don't agree on the column, I think only the key tumbler needs to be replaced unless the previous owner destroyed the cavity where the key tumbler sits,IDK, he never puts the camera on that area of the column.

Looks like a free truck is better than being first. But what does Mike want? MB/Sprinter may be more appealing.
The overdrive not working could be a failed PSOM, Programmable Speedometer Odometer Module, and or the Shift solenoid. You'll have to do checks with your multimeter and or test equipment

Mike fear not parts for the obs fords are cheap and easy to find. You got yourself a gem of a truck. The 5.8 is a gas guzzler but it’s a great engine for towing. I’d definitely replace the distributor and the ignition control module and switch first and see where that transmission leak is.

The fuel tank switch being pushed out of the gage bezel is very common on these 1992-1996 F-150s. The 351 Windsor, or as you called it, the 5.8L, is a very good engine, just this one sounds like it's tired, which, with the mileage, isn't surprising. Overall, I think this little old OBS is a solid old girl, the best truck Ford ever built, is always an OBS truck.

Woa ! I have been there with a trans swap 351 into a 65 Ford pick up.I turned out to be the Balancer on the motor. It is ether an internal or X. Just check what you have and change it. Hope this helps you guys and you find one that matches.

Fantastic condition for it's age. Many are rusted out and the seats ripped up. 2-3 weeks of work (at your leisure) and it will be a nice truck. You don't need the v10 to haul one old MB home.

No worries. Second hand transmission and a distributor that is in better shape and you will be rocking and rolling! On the outside it is a decent looking truck, really.
I would clean out that glove compartment though. If the Cops pull you over and see the jacked ignition then start to go through that glove box with a check book from someone else and all of those credit cards in someone else's name, you might just have some 'splaining to do. Just saying.

I would put a TFI module in it. I used to carry an extra one in the glove box when I had my fords of that era. That’s not going to help the transmission though!!🤣🤣🤣

The truck can be a good truck for awhile. Get the ignition worked out and rekey the locks and the transmission issue. That should be a 9th gen. At nearly 300,000 miles she has proven herself.

G'evening Guy's & Congrats Mike 🙃🙃 .. I'm not a Ford fan but I'm guessing the f150 had a 4 speed overdrive in it that must have went south. So someone probably swapped in a non computer controlled 3 speed C4 trans & grabbed the wrong torque converter or didn't get it installed right. This brings up another issue that needs to be looked at. If someone did swap out the tranny but they didn't lengthen the Driveline if they went with a shorter transmission you could end up with a Driveline binding issue if the rear suspension travels up and down too far and the slip yoke on the driveline runs out of travel and tries to pull itself apart. I've run into this issue countless times on too many rigs to even think about, either way congrats 🙃🙃
I’d be willing to bet someone pulled the E4OD out of it and swapped an AODE out of a 302 equipped truck. Both will fit, but the connections aren’t the same. This truck came equipped with the E4OD, since it’s got the button to turn the OD off.

The F150's oil pressure sender has failed also. It's on the left side of the engine block, to the left of the oil filter.
Mike , that f150 in my part of east Texas is worth 5000-6500$ once you get it sorted out. It’s rare to find one of these now days. It’s worth all the work , unlike some of Randy’s junk….!
Looks like a solid truck that just needs to be brought back to stock a bit so that the electronics play nice...or eliminate those electronics for some more modern engine controls. Coyote swap that bad boy!

A few repair videos while the search continues for another truck? Two fellas prowl through LKQ looking for a transmission or will it be, Mike does an engine swap with a Mercedes engine and trans? The suspense is worse than a cliff hanger. Great video and now we will have to see just where it goes, if it does.

I honestly think once you work the bugs out of her she will be a good truck. I will also say, I recently got a pickup myself for the first time in my life and I love it. I honestly don’t know how I lived without it, I use it all of the time. Is this a forever truck ?? Maybe not but those Fords are coming up in value.

OK my ideas 1/do dissy 2/racing starter unit with hidden ignition 3/ swap auto for right one 4 /new heavy duty shocks and springs front and rear 5/check brake wear and fluid level 6/ rust ground and bogged and touch up paint 7/ tyres debatable 8/ good clean out to WISE MAN standard 9/buckets up to you good soft ones like from a caddy MATE IT WOULD THEN BE ONE NEAT COOL GOOD LOOKIN F1fitty and cheap your only cost is parts quick guestimate 500 auto 100 racing starter set up 150 dissy 350 shocks ect 200 bog ect 250 buckets total 1550 thats not bloody bad for what you end up with a really neat dependable good lookin tow F 1fitty well worth over 2 to 3 k GRUMPY
