Brian and Phil Brown interviewed me at Southend United when I worked there on a work placement, Brian always asked questions about university and actually cared about my development within football and outside it. Genuine person!
Old school I really miss these type of people
😊😊
Proper 90s manager , I was kid on the 90’s watching Tranmere home and away you just knew was up against a top team , great pod and was a great surprise when I logged in to this weeks pod. You’re looking well Brian all the best for the future ! TRFC 👊🏻
Brian Horton Ricky hill probably the most underrated duo top flight ever seen I was on lutons books in 82 had pleasure watching them every home game for 3 years and I didn't support Luton proper nice people
What a lovely man. Remember him at Man City and his Hull days but great to know the whole journey on these pods keep up the good work lads
Amazing how all these angry psychopaths who just wanted Jon to turn up at work on time and run actually turned out to be sound normal fellas.
Top man. Loved him at City
A great listen, remember well when he took the City job and my mates and me thought Brian who. He recruited some very attacking players, used the youth player's and saw some great stuff like 5-2 home win v a talented Spurs side. Then took my hometown team Macc Town to league 2 play offs playing great stuff. Lives locally and nearly kept the Silkmen up in 2012.
You need to get someone on who was close to Lincoln. I've watched every episode and sometimes Lincoln are mentioned but nobody directly from the club. Grant brown would have so many stories.
Good old Nobby, still a legend at Brighton
The number of times they changed the names of the divisions makes it irritatingly confusing when looking back these days but Horton only moved up one division to manage Man City when leaving Oxford, not two.
Scale and Polish is absolute nothing Chris you need to experience one of your large teeth being extracted when it takes 5 minutes of pulling and pushing it after its broken into about 4 pieces😮
My lad's year was made by Brian, we pulled up at the lights near Portman Rd he waved to him from the bus as my lad had a Hudders shirt on. He still loves Brian and he's 40 year old now.
Didnt know Paul lake became a physio after he himself was injured for so long himself, spent many weeks myself with him in lilleshall rehab centre
Paul Lake's book is a cracker if you've never read it
Outstanding captain for Luton Town.
Brian Horton came into my mums pub shortly after leaving city. I was only maybe 10 or 11 but he talked to me about football for what felt like hours. City played some good stuff under him, and he’s an absolute gent.
Please get Billy Whitehurst on
What an absolute gentleman, still bright as a button and great to see him laughing 👏
Best one yet for me, gutted didn't get more on Hudders. He was like a breath of fresh air with the exciting attacking football. Thankyou Brian Horton.
Just starting one minute in Parkey with a pint on the table and a sub on the floor bravo
Haha he’s got nothing but respect for him tbf
Great podcast what a job once a week have a few pints with old friends great
Really enjoyed that, seems a top man. Good luck to him with the big C also 🙏
Great episode that, big smile on Nobbys face all the way through as well. These out-tros are class too, Parky and his all abusive holidays 😭😂
Goose bumps listening to the good times at Macc, a million miles away from where we are now
Ran by two absolute pillocks
Did the Gallagher brothers ever clean your car? 😂
Brian Horton what a top bloke , Great video boys, Good to keep the guests varied 😃
Went to the Wrexham live show. Absolutely brilliant! Even better if The Proclaimers came out to sing😆😂
Did Glen little realise browny was a footballer this time 😂
Should get billy whitehurst on show, top player great guy lots of story’s to tell in our old local
Pretty sure they've tried but he keeps declining
Butchers or cricketers
Defo 🙏
Seems like a really good bloke, but I'm sorry, but his Maxwell praising is gross. The man stole money from a pension fund, money which some people will never get back.
United season ticket holder and loved listening to this podcast, very honest and humble person. Best of luck Brian.
Excellent episode, cheers. Horton is a legend.
Joey Barton wud be a good shout on ya podcast
Here's our tribute to Brian - he gave us some great memories at city ua-cam.com/video/v59Hi1aM8Og/v-deo.htmlsi=V7arO3MzPhXl7TNI
'The Day Robert Maxwell Went Missing Was My Hardest Day In Football' Do me a favour, he was scum, The day he ripped off his workers pensions was the hardest day of their lives!
I have been living in the Netherlands for over a decade now, but am originally from Hednesford area, and one of Nobby's childhood friends is a good friend of our family. Through this gent, I've met Nobby twice, whilst he was manager of Huddersfield. The second time was up at Huddersfield to watch the Baggies (lose), and we were treated brilliantly by Mr Horton, Dennis Booth and David Moss Huddersfield. It was also a day where we got to meet the King, Jeff Astle and Tony Brown, which cheered my Dad up no end.
Surprised me that Nobby is from Hednesford! Nice to see a fellow Baggie!
@MitchthePunk2113 Yeah, Nobby's a top bloke. We really got VIP treatment up at the McAlpine as it was called then. We were in the middle of that infamous 13 or 14 game losing streak in 95/96 and were well beaten. We were fortunate enough be invited down to the manager's office afterwards for a beer, and as you can imagine, there was a fridge full. Alan Buckley also came down but completely ignored me and the old man. His assistant, Arthur Mann, was an absolute diamond, though, and apologised to us for having to witness "that shower of shite". Anyway, as I said, got to meet the King and Bomber, and I still treasure the programme with both their signatures on. Up the Baggies!
Many an old Vale supporter says hes the best player we've ever had (yes I know...).
Interesting about Mark Bright, you'd think butter wouldn't melt, but he was notorious for getting his retaliation in first. He did the same thing to Tony Adams when he was at Sheff Weds, elbowed Adams, Adams gets sent off for elbowing him back
I remember having a conversation about hard/dirty players and I mentioned Mark Bright. My mates looked nonplussed. I said, you watch him, he loves an elbow. Over the next few weeks I had plenty of occasion to say, "See, told you so..."
Burger boy was a wage thief at all the clubs he represented
John doubling up on the pints! 😂
Cracking bloke and came across brilliantly .
is it just 1 hour 57 mins of Horton talking about the time Hull beat Arsenal at Emirates
No.
Great to hear 2 massive chunks from his time with Us,tigers fan here 45yrs,to think we nearly signed Mark Bright but the chairman wouldn't give him a big enough signing on fee, gutted he would of been a great signing for us ,up front with Billy whitehurst!!!!
He loved referees 😂😂
One of my favourite all time cosh quotes
“Your all a bunch of losers”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Outstanding captain for Brighton and Hove Albion. Many happy memories of watching you at The Goldstone in tbe70's Brian. Thanks for the memories.
Best captain and penalty taker we ever had.
Brian and his predecessor Colin Appleton were part of some my greatest days supporting Hull City in the 80’s.
I'm a Stoke fan but always loved Brian when he was at the Vale. Top bloke
Love how Parky’s got a second Peroni at his feet. Waiting.
Absolutely brilliant interview. Really enjoyable.
Sharp as a tack. Remembers every name and detail. Great episode. Seems like a top fella.
What a top man, I remember him as a very good player, great episode
When Brian is saying curley I cannot help but vision Kevin Kennedy at the centre of defense
Remember speaking to him about geovanni in duke pub. Legend
Brilliant lads, some man is Brian, top top listen again
What a decent fella 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻loved this episode
Ian Brady was one hell of a footballer!!
What a top guy he is
Proper football man
Outtakes 😂😂😂
Great episode 👏
Good un
We loved him at city. Played some class stuff. Then he got sacked we got Alan Ball and went down
Absolute legend
Brian, you’re still loved by all at City who got to watch your entertaining side, great memories and should never, ever have been sacked. Wishing you nothing but the best with your health.
