I went to see them in 2011. I was walking around before the show. Oli and Lee snuck out the back of the venue and I fanboy'd pretty hard screaming their names and asked if they would mind taking a photo. They were so nice. Oli didn't hesitate to say hey and chat a bit.

I'm Christian, and even I agree tht was a dick move to try to force Oli to have a religious outlook on his problems. "Kind suggestions" are way more effective than "forced faith". That's sad that he was treated like that. He's such a cool guy.

It is a dickmove, you can't force anyone to change their beliefs. I'm not religious myself, but I do believe there is something bigger than us humans. However, I also believe that we create our own lives and are capable of changing our lives, dealing with our problems etc. We are responsible for our outcome. And there's nothing wrong with needing help, I've needed help myself in the past, but you only come out stronger in the end

Dan The Man as someone who is religious it’s fine to introduce someone to religion by say inviting them to church or praying for them- stuff like that but you can’t try to force someone to follow it when they need actual help with something

Okay. So I'm just basically going to say what's on my mind. Yes, when I first listened to That's The Spirit, I was disappointed. The sound was SO different from Sempiternal, almost a 180 difference. I only really liked Avalanche. But then I got to reading the whole concept behind the album. In Sempiternal Oli faced a lot of depression and substance abuse, and it with any music, it reflects the band's state of mind. The songs had no positivity, but not that anyone cared because the tracks were fucking good. After sempiternal, the band went through some of their hardest times. Oli finally went to rehab, and came out better last year, his life was filled with so much hope and positivity. He had Hannah, he had his band again, his family, everything. he didn't "wanna fucking scream anymore; (he) wanted to sing it through the rooftops." That's The Spirit is a reflection of that. And yes, they know their music has changed. in fact, 'Happy Song' is a parody of that. The thing is, if you keep making the same thing, and doing the same thing for years, people grow tired, you grow tired. Music isn't about that. Its about creating new things and finding yourself through it. Once I understood this, and really listened to That's The Spirit, I loved it, because behind the music and behind the lyrics, I could see every thing they were trying to express and it is fucking beautiful.
If you think what I'm saying is shit, that's fine. Please just don't leave a trashy hate comment not because I'll get hurt or whatever, but because you would be insulting every single thing BMTH ever did for themselves.
You are not a UA-cam person, you make sense, you are nice and you say things as it is.

@@sandyromero8439 Apparently you're thinking of something specific but it's a 12 minute video and I'm not psychic so I don't know what specific question you're talking about lmao. And that's not how it works. He does the research about an hour before the bands come on, meaning it was on Wikipedia at the time, and him asking allows the band's perspective to be known. If its on Wikipedia, then he's going to ask no matter how stupid it may seem. It seems to me you just have a fundamental misunderstanding of how this series and interviewing in general works.

In almost every interview I've seen with them they've ALWAYS acted kind of standoff ish. That's just how they are. A lot of bands are like that. I thought this interview was great; they engaged pretty well and the interviewer didn't seem to just only talk to Oli. One of the better interviews I've seen.

I highly doubt they dislike the music themselves, and Oli decided he wanted to keep his voice so they can keep doing shows. People love the new album, so if you don't like it, listen to the old stuff, wish them the best, and find something new.

BMTH is one of my favorite bands. Throne is freaking awesome. "I'll leave you chokin', on every word you left unspoken, rebuild all that you've broken - and now you know !!!". GOD I love that part of the song. Video is not too bad, although I'm not 100% big on the whole medieval knights, kings and queens types of music videos - but it goes awesome with the song, so huge shout out to BMTH !!!! Cool concept.

They're music still carries a message and many emotions. They are still amazing despite the fact that Oli doesn't growl. I find it to be an accomplishment for them to recognise that there was a need for a slight alteration in the way they display these emotions and thoughts. They found a way to keep their concepts of what they wanted to share with their fans while reaching an audience that even I thought was impossible yet I still hoped for it. They achieved what many could not and we should be proud that they are doing what they love and not what the audience wants. We must also remember they are humans and will not do everything their fans will like. They are not some celestial beings that we idolise as something more than they really are... No one really likes change but resenting it will not change it back or make it disappear - rather just accept it

When I met them this month after a concert they were so nice and smiley and they came by to take pictures and talk to us even though they didnt have to there wasnt any meet and greet or anything we were just bein creepers by their bus but yeh they were probably just tired durin this interview

I relate to Oliver so much, i'm 18 and I also suffer from a lot of sleep paralysis since I was a kid, and thats exactly what I do. you have to breath really heavy because it feels like there is no air and its so scary. I though it was just me but i'm so happy to know that im not the only one.. not like its good for him to have it or anything I just thought it wasn't normal and I was scared something was wrong with me... is it normal though?

I see signs of Oli's behavior back in my own experience with ketamine and the such, he seems to me to be pretty high. How he talks sounds like he's trying really hard to keep his words right and than start talking about "Old Hags Syndrome"(?). Knowing of his past with ketamine it's easy to pin to not being drunk
