You gotta minmax the stubby to make it good. It's designed for it. I don't know what the hell that dish soap interaction was but it was kind of scary to be honest. You have now demonstrated a part of the Prospector's potential to be a difficult boss. Those bots take so, so much ammo and they don't stop.
the prospector itself has as much health as a paper towel and the bots aren't terrible to deal with. the problem in this particular mission was just their dumb decisions. iirc getting close to a mule will trigger a swarm, and both mules were touched by the team as they went in the room, + none of the spitballers were addressed so no one had health/ammo for the ambient swarms.
Love the stubby, if it hasn't been recommended already try Turret EM Discharge, gemini turrets, LURE nade, and breach cutter (I like inferno but rts is goated) for big boys. Lure between turrets and just shoot your turrets a couple times when the horde arrives. Or just place on either end of a tunnel/choke point. Added bonus: Really good at damaging teammates if they get too close.
@@nameisnttaylorit's good at damaging teammates but atrocious at killing them, the actual electeicity explosion from shooting a turret does lots of damage to bugs but the friendly fire is unironically 1 damage, it makes it so you dont have to think "will this kill scout or not" you can just do it without consequences
@@nameisnttaylortheres another stubby balanced overclock i like called em refire booster it isnt as incredibly good as em discharge but nothing is as incredibly good as em discharge, the explosion is just that good you can keep doing it as long as you have stubby ammo and you only need to electrocute the turret to do it, so with 50% electricity chance most of the time it takes 1-3 bullets for basically a grenade with negligible friendly fire centred on your turret Basically em refire booster makes it shoot way faster, gives a little extra electricity damage (not the status effect, damage type, so it's not as much against things resistant to electricity like oppressors) and makes the spread wider, it can basically turn stubby into the gunner's minigun but with a clip, no windup and *much* less ammo, similar damage and firerate Makes stubby feel more punchy if you know what I mean

Favourite Stubby is 23222 with EM Refire Booster, with Shard Diffractor 31211 with Overdrive Booster. It lets you control hoards while you get the position to boost all over them
Stubby is effectively two weapons : the one with no/clean/balanced overclocks, and the one that's actually useable, i.e. either of the unstables. Turret Arc is completely useless if you're not running Gemini (YOU SHOULD) and you're the only engineer on the team. EM Discharge is always useful. Decent build for the former would be 23122 to compensate your downsides and boost electric damage and typical build for the latter is 21221. Just be careful with the latter, teammates see the EM Discharge bubble get triggered 15 times and still insist on standing RIGHT NEXT to the sentry. It will never not baffle me. Basic game plan is, just shoot your sentry/ies with it and minimize any direct confrontation with it out. Secondary should cover your weaknesses, which are honestly many, so either go balls-deep single target (Hyperprop, some Shard Diffractor builds) if you know you're gonna fight some tanky boys and crowd clear with your Stubby's effect or go balls-deep crowd clear (Breach Cutter, non-Hyperprop PGL, Volatile Impact Shard Diffractor) and make heavy use of teammates for whatever you can't clear. Stubby CAN be useful, but when you compare it to Engi's other two primaries, eesh. It mostly sucks as a PDW (exceptions exist of course but at that point you're just doing the same job at best on par and at worst, worse), which is the top use case for Engi's primaries, and it's not fantastic at CC, which is the top use case for Engi's secondaries. If you like sticky grenades on him you'll probably like it but otherwise you'll probably forget it exists.
@@nameisnttaylor it is definitely worth learning every tool at your disposal, and if anything, a 4-engi team all running Gemini means a single person running Turret Arc can create an absolutely ridiculous web of electric death. Debatably useful, will definitely hinder mission completion speed, but definitely some very stupid fun. Maximize turret shenanigans by having someone else run EM Discharge and yet another player run Turret Whip Warthog and you will play the safest, if most ammo-hungry, game of DRG of your career.
both EM Discharge and Turret Arc do unironically 1 damage of friendly fire per hit, dont worry about hitting teammates (I have tested hitting myself and teammates and the friendly fire doesnt even take a cm off the shield)
Yeah so there's a bug with the prospector where its health shows up as full sometimes. It still happens, and at first it threw me off a lot. But I can't explain how that second bar of health went away so fast unless it was just part of the bug... 😂
stubby is my favourite engi weapon aside the shotgun, is a very versatile weapon if you know to mod it or overclocks, my usual builds with it are: >Em refire booster with shard drifactor with feedback loop -stubby 22222 -shard difractor 1221 (or 2, is up to you i prefer burning them)1 the strategy is to spray the stubby at a swarm of bugs to proc as much of the electricity as possible and then blast the with the shard difractor, turns an entire swarm into thin mist >turret arc with pgl with fat boy -stubby 23222 -pgl 21332 this is my go to for missions where is to defend a static point, basically put the turrets like a fence and use fatboy as a hazard where the bugs have to walk through, with heavy uses of platforms you can force the bugs to path exactly where the turret arc and the radiation is, you can also use lures to increase the effectiveness >turret em discharge with shard difractor plascrete catalyst -stubby 23222 -shard difractor 21213 (or 1 if you want to fully use the electric damage bonus) this is the build where i just go schizo with the platforms and decide to play as if i was in minecraft, instead of using the platform gun to reach a destination and call it a day, i build structures such as bridges or spiral towers or anything that force the bugs to path ON the platforms in a straight line, with one turret in the middle of the monstrosity i created, when the bugs climb onto the structure i activate the turret discharge and then blast them with the shard difractor, you can decide if you want to detonate the plaforms or not in that case you can aim the gun to a bug or to another platform to avoid detonation and keep using the area bonus of shooting the platform, you can also use the shard against lone and tougher enemies like the opressor or praetorian by aiming it to their weakpoints (or you can just shoot platforms at their feets and make it explode) is by far my favourite engie build (specially for missions with tons of enemies like point extraction) of how destructive it is and how much it forces you to use your entire kit for crazy synergies.
those first two sound really interesting to me, but you make that third would sound like i have to try it as well. thanks for these builds! i appreciate the level of depth you went into here
I got a decent Stubby build. Upgrades are 3, 2, 2, 1, 2. With the Turret EM discharge. Keep your sentry guns close and train the bugs around them so if when you shoot your sentry, all bugs will get zapped. Really good against crowds. To make up for heavy DPS, use the Breach cutter with 1, 1, 1, 1, and 2. With Inferno. Very fun build to use.
I like EM Refire Booster stubby with 22222. It’s surprisingly competent against crowds due to the chain-lightning slow and more potent DOT. It does less DPS than the LOK, but you have more mobility, and so it’s important to take advantage of that. Most of the time it’s either a “Run and gun” play style or “Run around like a chicken with your head cut off” to break the bugs’ ankles. For some weird reason I like running this build with Fat Boy as a secondary. Running around like crazy -and- lobbing nukes always winds up being a good combo.
the stubby is actually my favorite engineer primary for basic missions that aren't elim, which i use lok-1 executioner for. my stubby is ALWAYS as follows, barring rare exceptions: it's 22222 with EM Refire Booster, straight down the middle with this one. good ammo, good damage, great for both grunts and melting praetoreans/oppressors with a clip or two maximum, in my haz-4 maining experience. works in haz-5 to my knowledge and few missions i've played in it alone, too. enjoy, if you opt to!
Turret EM discharge is generally considered the good stubby overclock (also always take t1 electrocute chance with it because bullets that would electrocute trigger the explosion), but I personally have a soft spot for straight up dps stubby with EM refire booster. 331x1 is the build. People bash it a lot because everybody loves cycle overload, but it actually does do good damage and it can hit things farther away than 5m unlike cycle overload haha. I take feedback loop shard diffractor with it for some access to armor breaking (the stubby has an AB penalty), but any swarm clear secondary works.
Taylor I’m contractually obligated as an engineer main to put you onto my favorite build that uses my beloved stubby. 21122 Stub with EM refire booster, one of my favorite aoe weapons in the entire game and it has such a beautiful sound effect when you’re roasting swarms. 31211 Shard diffractor with overdrive booster oc for the secondary. This mf is without a doubt my favorite weapon in the game with this stubby combo. Actually insane dps from 1. Weak point damage boost 2. Bonus damage against electrocuted enemies (which usually applies to literally everything alive in front of you if you’ve shot the Stubby a few times) 3. Overdrive booster takes all of that and cranks it to ten on top of it for shits and giggles. Oh and also anything that’s still alive after all of that is probably electrocuted and on fire. Pair this with swarmer drones to pick off that tiny bit of health left on bigger targets and destroy whatever’s left of swarms and the taser laser combo is my go to. If you don’t have the OCs it should still be fire without if you have good alternatives, but if you want to ball like you’ve never balled before you need to get on this brotha Bonus point because I just hopped on to get all the info after not playing for awhile: Forgot that it has weirdly decent ammo economy as long as you don’t whiff overdrive shots. Joined into a 2 egg dreadnaught mission before either popped like 5 minutes and I was able to roast the hive guards vulnerable stages and was only out like a quarter of my total ammo. Let the scout bum my resup and managed to get 80% of the way through the second regular dread before I had to reload (results may vary depending on how mischievous and/or negative helpful the gang is at time of use)
you sound like you know your stuff, and i'm thankful of that disclaimer at the end. i can tell u really know that playing with the gang is a conflip... thank you! i'll absolutely give this one a try when i get those overclocks, you sold me
I'm a lok1 fan but i got a decent ammo efficient stubby i run with either nukes or rj250 em refire booster: 3,1,2,2,2 u can swap the 4th slot for weakspot dmg instead of electricity if u want (personal preference)
Hey Taylor, just a sugesstion! Can you use music that doesnt have lyrics in the background. It takes the focus away from whats being said by you. Thanks!
Stubby is a glorified secondary posing as a primary weapon, i swear. And im PR 853. Still havent found a reliable build except for like... One and MAAAAYBE another, but they rely heavily on turrets, grenades and actual secondaries 💀 Im trying but its basically a Dwarven nerf gun 😂

If you like sticky grenades on him you'll probably like it but otherwise you'll probably forget it exists.
in depth and very informative, thank you. you make me wanna learn more about the stubby despite past experiences
i crank this soulja boy up to the max cuz the background music is actually a beat.
and i know a thing or two about backgrounds
ain't that the truth right there
stubby is my favourite engi weapon aside the shotgun, is a very versatile weapon if you know to mod it or overclocks, my usual builds with it are:
>Em refire booster with shard drifactor with feedback loop
-stubby 22222
-shard difractor 1221 (or 2, is up to you i prefer burning them)1
the strategy is to spray the stubby at a swarm of bugs to proc as much of the electricity as possible and then blast the with the shard difractor, turns an entire swarm into thin mist
>turret arc with pgl with fat boy
-stubby 23222
-pgl 21332
this is my go to for missions where is to defend a static point, basically put the turrets like a fence and use fatboy as a hazard where the bugs have to walk through, with heavy uses of platforms you can force the bugs to path exactly where the turret arc and the radiation is, you can also use lures to increase the effectiveness
>turret em discharge with shard difractor plascrete catalyst
-stubby 23222
-shard difractor 21213 (or 1 if you want to fully use the electric damage bonus)
this is the build where i just go schizo with the platforms and decide to play as if i was in minecraft, instead of using the platform gun to reach a destination and call it a day, i build structures such as bridges or spiral towers or anything that force the bugs to path ON the platforms in a straight line, with one turret in the middle of the monstrosity i created, when the bugs climb onto the structure i activate the turret discharge and then blast them with the shard difractor, you can decide if you want to detonate the plaforms or not in that case you can aim the gun to a bug or to another platform to avoid detonation and keep using the area bonus of shooting the platform, you can also use the shard against lone and tougher enemies like the opressor or praetorian by aiming it to their weakpoints (or you can just shoot platforms at their feets and make it explode) is by far my favourite engie build (specially for missions with tons of enemies like point extraction) of how destructive it is and how much it forces you to use your entire kit for crazy synergies.
those first two sound really interesting to me, but you make that third would sound like i have to try it as well. thanks for these builds! i appreciate the level of depth you went into here
I got a decent Stubby build.
Very fun build to use.
seems very interesting! i'll have some unlocking to do i think, but it looks like it'll be worth it
Definitely fun to use! It's also good to use against Rockpox, or at least the breach cutter is. lol
Running around like crazy -and- lobbing nukes always winds up being a good combo.
i do like running and gunning... this one will be on my list of builds to try! thank you ethyriel
the stubby is actually my favorite engineer primary for basic missions that aren't elim, which i use lok-1 executioner for.
my stubby is ALWAYS as follows, barring rare exceptions:
it's 22222 with EM Refire Booster, straight down the middle with this one. good ammo, good damage, great for both grunts and melting praetoreans/oppressors with a clip or two maximum, in my haz-4 maining experience. works in haz-5 to my knowledge and few missions i've played in it alone, too.
enjoy, if you opt to!
thank you! i'll have to give it a whirl
I take feedback loop shard diffractor with it for some access to armor breaking (the stubby has an AB penalty), but any swarm clear secondary works.
i felt the "it can hit things farther away than 5m," that was one of my biggest gripe with the stubby to be honest
From a Stubby lover:
2-3-1-2-2 with Light-Weight Rounds
nice and simple, i like it
Always have a good time watching
your stuff.
very happy to hear!
Hot dang, that robot hack when you had zero ammo was nuts.
i appreciate it

I adore this perfect transition.
The miss click on the subscribe button was a great idea and you did a great job implementing it!

Awesome background music choice 👌

Being a gunner main this vid makes me appreciate my sheild cause godamn it do be heckin usedul.
it really do be!
If you don’t have the OCs it should still be fire without if you have good alternatives, but if you want to ball like you’ve never balled before you need to get on this brotha
Bonus point because I just hopped on to get all the info after not playing for awhile: Forgot that it has weirdly decent ammo economy as long as you don’t whiff overdrive shots. Joined into a 2 egg dreadnaught mission before either popped like 5 minutes and I was able to roast the hive guards vulnerable stages and was only out like a quarter of my total ammo. Let the scout bum my resup and managed to get 80% of the way through the second regular dread before I had to reload (results may vary depending on how mischievous and/or negative helpful the gang is at time of use)
you sound like you know your stuff, and i'm thankful of that disclaimer at the end. i can tell u really know that playing with the gang is a conflip... thank you! i'll absolutely give this one a try when i get those overclocks, you sold me
My team setup is just like Taylor's the driller the idiot the team killer and the good player difference is I have one friend who plays deeprock
my go to strats when playing stubby is switching to lok-1
you're so valid for this
I'm a lok1 fan but i got a decent ammo efficient stubby i run with either nukes or rj250
em refire booster: 3,1,2,2,2
u can swap the 4th slot for weakspot dmg instead of electricity if u want (personal preference)
i too am a lok fan, but i'll give this a whirl too!
Topdecking wrecking minmax team damage here I come
i long for this
Hey Taylor, just a sugesstion! Can you use music that doesnt have lyrics in the background. It takes the focus away from whats being said by you. Thanks!
yeah! i thought about that, it's a difficult issue but i'm working at it, i appreciate the feedback
@@nameisnttaylor of course :) keep the videos comin, they're great!
I wonder how differently these would've gone if one of you goons remembered that Gunner exists.
oh it would have been so much better…
Stubby is a glorified secondary posing as a primary weapon, i swear.
And im PR 853. Still havent found a reliable build except for like... One and MAAAAYBE another, but they rely heavily on turrets, grenades and actual secondaries 💀
Im trying but its basically a Dwarven nerf gun 😂
that's how i feel about it! some of these comments are making it sound pretty appealing, though
idk why you guys arent willing to take a shot of soap, it tastes pretty good. maybe its a witch thing
you witches got something broken in your heads

My fav stubby is one with attachments;)
GET OUT OF MY HEAD!
Ngl the hack on that patroller was clean. I was sure that's when it ended. Also holy craaaap what deleted the prospector's health like that? Hyperprop?
thanks, and i have no idea! none of us knew what happened. either it bugged or one of us was lying… both are possible
291 kills as a scout is huge, but Substantial simian (sliceman?) had many more than you Taylor, too bad he's the strongest.
Because yes, the number of kills is of course an indicator of the level of skill in the game, DRG being so competitive that you have to hold on to these indicators to know who still has a place in the roster of this team.
No lasting friendship.
By the way, you are for me the best DRG channel I know, R&S miners!
NO LASTING FRIENDSHIPS! thank you! glad you enjoy

hi tayLor,
i am writing to you to express my discontent with your most recent NameisTayLor Video titled Deep Rock Galactic's Never Ending "Event" ??
In your "video" you made many jokes about taking shots of dish soap in a rude fashion. I drink about two cups of dish soap a day for my health and freshness of breath. When I burp, I shoot bubbles. I see god. This shit aint nothing to me man. You're still on the primeval type of using ash to wash your hands (dry skin, no doubt). Straight up narsty.
I cant blame you for not being considerate of me, I'm on another level of existence. But if you want me (the last 1%) to sub to your channel, you're gonna have to drink some of this soap bro. Maybe you could drizzle it onto some frozen pizza instead
Respectfully,
Him
wow, you must think you're so much better than everyone. keep drinking ur dish soap u freak of nature, bye!
