    Thank you for this. My menopausal hair is out of control. My texture is coarser and extremely dry. Plus it’s thinning or gone in some places AND tangled at the scalp. Hair used to be wavy all over but not it’s just flat or straighter in the front and very curly in the back. I can’t take this. My hair has never been like this!!! 😩

      Your entire post is what I’m dealing with. I just turned 50, and all my life I always had EXTREMELY thick hair like five layers thick, now I barely have two. I can see my scalp I’m some areas especially at the top scalp. My hair just doesn’t look the same at all and I’m fixing to just start wearing a wig because I’m so sad about my hair.

    Thank you Karen for letting us know what is going on with our hair and that we are not alone. My hair has been extremely dry for nearly a decade (due to menopause) and it has been a real struggle. My hair sheds a lot but it is thick so I am very blessed in that area. But the dryness (and the matting from it) is difficult to deal with. I have been applying spring water with olive and avocado oils and it has made a huge difference. I also went back to using grease on my scalp (once a month) and it has helped curb the matting at the roots. Anyway, thanks for sharing. The next time I purchase hair products I will check out your line. Thanks again. ~TT

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  11 місяців тому +6

      Hey TT! Thank you so much for sharing! I know menopause can be super though and the dryness is REAL! Menopausal dryness is a whole other level of dryness! I totally get it! I’m in the process of recreating a moisturizing system to address this. And the hair grease is definitely lubricating for the scalp and softens that hair! Good for you! I create an entire video about the benefits of hair grease.

    I really appreciate this you and this video. After 18 years I’ve decided to take down my Sisterlocks. I’m at the end of menopause, thankfully gone through with few symptoms. But my hair, my beautiful thick locs have dramatically changed. Beginning with the loss of several, especially at the front. I notice a lot more scalp when I retighten, they’re thinning and I know if I keep up the regimen I’ll lose more. So, with a big sigh and a smile, I’ve decided to begin the journey of taking them down. I’ve thought of just cutting them off, but I’d like to try and maintain some length. It’s a big change, but then so is the menopause. Thank you for your extensive hair care library. New subscriber, I’ll be diving in.

    I’ve been dealing/struggling with menopausal hair and needed to hear this. I started taking collagen powder a few months ago and have had results with my skin but not my hair. I just had blood work done for vitamin deficiency and learned that I am low in Vitamin D and B-12. Explains a lot. I’m going to start those supplements and hopefully it’ll make a difference in how I’ve been feeling. And a bonus would be seeing a positive difference with my hair as well.

      I’m going through menopausal hair as well. It’s very dry, brittle and stringy. So I started using lighter leave ins, water based and grapeseed oil to lock it in cause it’s a light oil. I use my scalphero to massage it and now I'm using your scalp treatment and I keep it moisturized everyday. It's still growing, but slowly. I don't seem to be losing alot, but it's thinning in front and crown somewhat. Other than this, the back it thick. The crown of my hair curl is not as tight as the other. Hello Karen, I appreciate this video. I had blood work done, and was told I have to much testosterone. This can cause female pattern baldness. I was diagnosed with Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia, and now there's too much testosterone 😢. I have never heard of women having to much testosterone. My provider said this can happen in menopause.
    Have you ever heard of women having to much testosterone?

    • @KarenofCurlHouse
      @KarenofCurlHouse  11 місяців тому +2

      Yes. Well the way I understand it is that when the estrogen and progesterone decline then there is more naturally testosterone in the body, and the testosterone can convert to dihyrotestosterone (DHT) which leads to female pattern baldness. FFA is different as it is more of a scarring alopecia.

      @@ohoud1374 does the area look super shiny and slick? Is there any hair there - like peach fuzz? These are a few ways to determine but it’s always best to see a dermatologist or a trichologist for confirmation.

    Your video are always informative. Where did you purchase your hair band from. Yellow is a good color on you. You mentioned soy foods. I have half of a thyroid. My doctor told me stay away from soy products. You are right about stress.

      Yes! Soy is one of those touchy food that work for some and not for others. By all means follow your doctors orders! Also - the band is called a local soc! I have dozens! You can get them from www.soclocsoc.com

    Recently my scalp has been so itchy. My hair seems to not hold natural styles anymore. I'm perimenopausal. So much of this stage I'm unfamiliar with. What do I do ..is it proteinor something else?

    The Batana Oil from Batana Babe smells like Burnt popcorn. It is a terrible smell.

      Hey there! 💜 There are 2 main smells to real batana oil. Strong coffee vs a Burnt smell. The burnt smell is from the extraction process. Remember Batana oil is extracted from the nut and the kernels that are left are in the batana. So burnt popcorn (kernels) sounds about right! 😂. Here's an article about it: batanababe.com/blogs/guide/what-does-batana-oil-smell-like?_pos=1&_sid=928d28856&_ss=r
