It seemed Electro was still popular in parts of USA in 1988 despite Gangsta Rap and Public Enemy but in 1988 in UK it was either Acid House or Rap and no Electro sadly.
Hi Samuel. Yes, there were so many Acid House artists coming out from the UK during this era. Their material drifted into the US and was played on the late night club radio stations. Electro was dominate here through 1989; and then "house" really took over in 1990 and flowed into Techno. There was the Bass-Electro movement by Dynamix II in 1990 and other Electro tracks from the Miami area with the thumping bass lines. The late 80's Electro scene that I enjoyed was from the West Coast that included DJ Matrix, Unknown DJ / DJ Slip, Steve Masters, and the list goes on. From Europe (mainly Germany), I found there was a resurgence of the Electro sound in the mid 90's (but the vinyl is quite highly priced). Mostly instrumental; some vocoder, not very much vocals. There are some that I want for my collection, but I would have to wait for the price to come down. Cheers!
@@klassicjam excellent post klassicjam's and good to have someone who was there first hand ;) as I think the mid to late Electro tracks gets ignored and its your usual Break-in tunes from the era 1982-1985 that always gets played and talked about but not the later from the Techno Kutz and Techno Hop era. What was the look back in 1988/89 for the Electro nights ?
@@samuelspoons3553 Thank You! Agree with you - Grandmaster Flash in '82, Newcleus in '84, the RUN-DMC era were talked about the most. My experience was a mixture of Electro, Freestyle, and Synth-pop - '88 & '89 were absolutely great. A huge mega-bass electro thumper was DJ Matrix with "Feel My Bass" and even the rare "Velocity Speed & Force" by VFD was played on a regular basis. The crowd standing on the 18" sub boxes on the floor and the laser lights were a plus. Great times!!
Ohhh I to check out DJ Matrix VFD.
@@klassicjam
@@klassicjam Yes loved all the European Electronic and Space Disco, Italia Discostuff from Mid 1970s and 1980s from German, France and Italy and the UK Post Punk and New Romantic alongside American early Rap, Space Funk, Electro, Detroit Techno, Washington Go Go and Miami Bass ( but can stand the Cartoon tunes) plus not a fan of posing Gangsta Rap and the Bling suff we still have.
What’s the first song called I know it’s X Men something
Thanks for listening. 1st song is simply “X-Men” by the Unknown D.J. and D.J. Slip (aka The X-Men). Released in ‘88. Their 2nd release was called “Revenge of the X-Men” - ‘89.
