I love dj scratch, that’s my dude, but any real dj knows that dj revolution way crazy sharper with his scratches, dj scratch was just very smart to disguise this fact by, adding theatrical sneaker 👟 tricks, and mouth scratching, if it came down to body tricks and triple beat chasing, etc etc, scratch would probably win anyway, but Dj Revolution’s cuts were ridiculously sharp!!
Yep both were night and day... Scratch may have the raw battle attitude and swagger but Rev definitely was more musical, sharp and in control of his hands and scratches in the way he was riding the beats. But hey, Scratch is really kind of a legend on the scene.
DJ SCRATCH is a Pioneer in this GAME.You can't beat him unless your a QBERT type OR Jazzy Jeff that can perfect a great Experimental Scratch Mix,which takes years to perfect!!!
well if that was the case then you respect what the east coast did for scratching in general........ between jazzy jeff, spinbad, and cash money, they brought evolutionized turntablism from the very start...
Revolution is a beast, but he's a turntablist. Scratch is a "DJ". Im from the same school as Scratch, he's actually a friend by the way. We're considered old school. We learn to actually SCRATCH more with hand movement, control, balance. A lot of newer school DJs or Turntablists, are all about the fader. But even though the term Turntablist was coined by Babu, Scratch would be considered one of the first true turntablist of my time. I "scratch" my first record in '83 at the age of 11.
It wasn't about who was MORE hip hop. It was about who had MORE skills. Rev killed Scratch. And it hurts for me to say that because Scratch is a pioneer and legend. What I thought was very cocky and arrogant was when Scratch was saying "how dare you go against me. I'm DJ Scratch." Well, as far as I am concerned Rev is a legend too and he could have said the same thing towards Scratch. That's what hip hop is about. Battling.
I met Scratch and he is cool as a fan! I asked him how you go go on Master of the Mix, know dang well you was gonna win! He chuckled, gave me dap and we parted ways! #Jude2!
chris allistar its a SCRATCH battle dude...its all perspective i guess, but idk what your background is....but in a SCRATCH battle, I rather get a nod from a Q/Craze/A-Trak than a thousand Kendall Jenners throwing their hands in the air and wooing
Julio Lui K that's fair two respective styles that have clashed and basically killed turntablism.See I respect your judge list but do remember that these battles contain hidden politics you don't see such as sponsership, friendship, and even crowd heckling. My generation made yours, almost 30 yrs of copy cats.Dj scratch won NY new music seminar 1988 the winner after that is known as the pioneer of juggling that's Dj Miz. Crabs,Tweaks, twiddles are just transformers with fingers instead of wrists.Scratch won it's not hard to tell.
+chris allistar again you are talking nonsense (apart from scratch winning I'm with you on that). dj miz didn't start beat juggling it's actually Steve d who is credited for that who won the NMS in 1990,as for various scratches just being transformers with fingers, well that's just ignorant.
Dj Scratch is old school, Revolution is from the new school of Scratching Thought. Im from the Dj Scratch era where all our movements was in our wrist work but the new school djs movements come from there fingers which is way smarter. Im converting to finger work ayyy! Revolution #SALUTE

Fuck the dumbfuck
I love DJ Scratch's scratches from the EPMD Days he was one of my inspirations. Revolution won that scratch off in my opinion, his cuts were way cleaner and much more complex. But being that Revolution was unfortunately already eliminated in an earlier challenge this was more of a demo than an actual challenge.
Mixing music, not using beat counters but listening for compatibility in the melody is how you get to be a great DJ. Young dudes now use too many technical cheaters to compensate for not understanding the melody & tempo of the records they play. In the olden days dudes had to push records to keep the tempo & would cue a record manually. Look up Larry Levan, Shep Pettibone, Patrick Adams, Rock Master Scott, Terminator X, Jam Master Jay, Tat Money, those guys could work a record & the crowd.
Remedy21 No i'm not. That's fact. He's only been scene juggling once in the 92 dmc. After facing and befriending the X men he stuck to his guns scratching. Why the piece of crap?Because of he sold out with Vestax which went under in 2014.Turntablism as Babu called it was way ahead of the coined terminology. Just check MARRS,Herbie,Jazzy Jeff(the actual first 2 albums b side were dedicated to his cuts) and so many others. You dumb asses keep following never leading thus DMC is fading which is sad. @@DJDAMIAN72 that should be simple.....What legendary group was DJ Scratch a part of that made classic records in the late 80s early 90s????? Where was DJ Revolution at around that time frame?? I'll wait.
@@Iamdjqu1975 You don't have to be a member of a big Rap group to be a great DJ/turntablist... how about legendary DJs like Cash Money, X-Ecutioners, Q-Bert, some of the Scratch Pickles and some of the Beat Junkies (I said some of them because Babu and Mixmaster Mike were in 2 big Rap groups)... those are just some examples but there are so many great legendary DJs who were not members of big Rap groups and nobody cares about that when talking about the greatest DJs/turntablists out there. DJ Scratch is a dope DJ & a dope beat producer BUT when it comes to just DJ skills I think DJ Revolution is on a slightly higher level. I remember having my mind blown plenty of times while listening to DJ Revolution on the wakeup show back in the mid 90's and I still get the same vibe when I hear him spin now, he is still one of the most skilled DJs out there... both are 2 very dope DJs though!
Uh, no. Creator of the transformer scratch is Spinbad. And not the Spinbad from NY. The Spinbad from Philly. Jazzy Jeff was the first DJ to put it on a record, however.
No one is dissin Jazzy J….I'm not from the west coast. And just because he invented TRANSFORMING does NOT mean he invented crabbing. All scratching is a transform…but there are different techniques that were invented by others. You can't sit up and say the crab scratch is the same as the 1 click or 2 click that Jazzy Jeff came up with.
disagree, you clearly have seen Cutmaster DC perform in the 80s. He used to use bike tires, basketballs and stuff like that while cutting on THREEE turntables.
i never watched this show...just this episode and one other....but WHY THE FUCK was revolution even on this show...and how did he get kicked off?? and i heard total eclipse was a contestant too???? and he got kicked off? how does a dmc champ lose to some rookie ass dj's?? this show is fixed!
She probably wanted to get some US exposure, and felt she was qualified cause she's a deejay. It's like that one techno/house deejay from Holland competing in the 06' DMC World Finals.
This man right here knows his shit. Also, didn't DJ Cash Money did it first as a battle DJ in the late 80s? Philly DJs were very tech back in the days.
Rev got Scratch on the cuts but Scratch got him on the showmanship. But Scratch wasn't even suppose to be going up against those DJ's. That was some weak shit. He's a pro vs them.
@djstarscream ...VERY GOOD POINT!! But you have to understand, Q is like the Teacher, and Rev and Scratch are the students...Rev EASILY won that challenge, but the judges screwed him over...as usual
What does old mixers have to do with this? They are ALL using the same mixer here. And what did Scratch do in this challenge that was so great? Took his shoe off? 1 forward, 1 back…transform. You don't need to feel the record for that. And if Scratch was doing those back then why didn't he come with something more than what he did? So if I take my shoe off and learn that way….i guess that makes me better than Rev too.
I do agree Rev killed it right there, b.u.t. you have to go back in the days to Scratch's performances on the EPMD albums 'n see that he basically "invented" that scratch! Rev shoulda got funkier on that one...Peace!

Qbert did that first scratch in reverse, they all fucked it up
Did he take his shoe off and scartch with it
No one is dissin Jazzy J….I'm not from the west coast.
He used to use bike tires, basketballs and stuff like that while cutting on THREEE turntables.
i never watched this show...just this episode and one other....but WHY THE FUCK was revolution even on this show...and
how did he get kicked off?? and i heard total eclipse was a contestant too???? and he got kicked off? how does a dmc champ lose to some rookie ass dj's?? this show is fixed!
+mufongo This show is allegoric to DJ's with actual skill.
@civicdoc Haha! Everyone says that! I just subscribed. You got some dope vids in your favs! Peace bro!
She probably wanted to get some US exposure, and felt she was qualified cause she's a deejay. It's like that one techno/house deejay from Holland competing in the 06' DMC World Finals.
Revolution got schooled. His record even jumped on him! That fucked it up for him...on TV too!
@Devestato72 Yes Rev and Q are known for the crazy scratching skills. Don't hate on my homie DJ Scratch, that dude is a pioneer!
In a real "Skratch Battle" DJ Revolution will murder DJ Scratch. In an all around battle..Juggles, Skratching and Tricks..Dj Scratch will win.
This man right here knows his shit. Also, didn't DJ Cash Money did it first as a battle DJ in the late 80s? Philly DJs were very tech back in the days.
This can't be for real!?!
Didn't even know this bad joke exists 🤣😭
Rev got Scratch on the cuts but Scratch got him on the showmanship. But Scratch wasn't even suppose to be going up against those DJ's. That was some weak shit. He's a pro vs them.
@djstarscream
...VERY GOOD POINT!! But you have to understand, Q is like the Teacher, and Rev and Scratch are the students...Rev EASILY won that challenge, but the judges screwed him over...as usual
DJ Jazzy Jeff would have sent everyone home! #FACTS
@civicdoc I should have read this earlier. I know where you're coming from now. Peace!
