That’s awesome! Glad to have you here Avdre!
-Miami
I literally just subscribed because of that. Youre funny AF dude haha
YO I was not expecting that "cut my mix into pieces bit" it almost made me spit out my coffee mate!
Hahaha, glad I could make ya laugh Christopher!
-Miami
that bit got me too hahaha!
How does Miami's transition game keep leveling up, this man is limitless
It doesn’t come easy, I promise 😅. I’ll keep doing my best to level up!
-Miami
"Cut your mix in to pieces.." incredible. Literally fell out of my chair.
Dude that was a spectacular video. Your personality, style, charisma and wit shines through its fun to see.. thanks for the vid. Teaching us sausage makers how to polish our turds is important work. Keep it up!
Thanks, David! I’ll do my best to keep it up!
-Miami
0:44 we’re gonna need the full track for “EQ into pieces” please !! Lol awesome videos bros! Thx for saving me time with these frequencies!!
Another less observed way to add clarity is to change the tonal color balance of your source material with some colored saturation / distortion. Though it might not the best option for maintaining peak clarity, sometimes saturating and darkening a guitar or synth a bit will let your vocals shine through when done in conjunction with the fundamental techniques in this video. I do like Trackspacer, but it can only do so much without feeling like it's ducking too much.
You’re right! Trackspacer can only do some much, and colored saturation can definitely help blend things. This gives me another video idea! Thank you, Tyler!
-Miami
Exceptionally well made videos with great tips and amazing advice ❤❤❤
These videos are great and right to the point!
2:41 i literally exclaimed “WOW” alone in my room, i heard that change through my phone speaker ffs, wow incredible tip!!!!
Great videos and advice! Thanks, Miami!
Thanks so much, and you’re welcome!
-Miami
Great video and great channel!
Side chaining dynamic EQs or multiband compressors is the ultimate way to handle conflicting frequencies. One of the downsides is introduction of phase shift between frequency bands at the crossovers, but then, one can always use linear phase EQs.
GREAT presentaion!!!
Thank you very much, Joey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Your explanations are soooo good, a lot of time content creators will talk over my head, you take the time to explain the why which is very important to me. Five stars
This is incredible information BLESS YOUR SOUL!
Your videos are really high quality and super helpful. Thank you!!
Thanks dude! I’ll make sure to do my best to keep improving too!
-Miami
these videos are gold and yes keep expanding on these topics!!!
Thank you so much and I definitely will!
-Miami
that transition though
nailed the vocal mix too
Im upping my transition game this week for sure lol
-Miami
I’m gonna be watching this over and over
Amazing video!!!!!! Thank you so much for this :)
Of course, Ali! Glad you enjoyed it
-Miami
This was my favorite video so far from the channel! It covered a lot of ground
I tried to make this a knowledge bomb! Glad you enjoyed it
-Miami
Great video Miami and you hit the important basics in mixing. Good job!!!!! Great video. Simple and to the point.
Thanks so much! I try so hard to not make 20 minute long videos that no one is gonna watch because it’s a television episode lol.
-Miami
@@joeymusic Lol!!!
You have a fun way of explaining your examples. Keep it up!
Thank you! I like to keep these vids as entertaining and educational as possible. Nice to know I get the balance right sometimes😀
-Miami
awesome video, very entertaining and educational. You deserve my sub just from this first time video I've seen of yours.
Thanks Cliff! I really appreciate that. I’ll make sure the next ones are just as entertaining
-Miami
Hey Miami, I've been really digging your recent EQ tutorials, good job. It's impressive how the principles apply across different musical styles. Also your transition game is becoming frightening in it's power. Cheers.
Thanks, David! I’ll be doing stuff in more genres as long as everyone is still willing to watch it! And I’ll def keep stepping my transition game up (or at least try😅)
-Miami
That vocal match in the intro was🔥🔥
I just found your videos, but man, there has been some great info in all the ones I have watched.
Thanks so much Nick! Make sure to stay tuned, we’re just getting started
-Miami
Great content sit. Subscribed
Great to have you here! Thanks a ton
-Miami
Great Video!
Love these tips. My audio quality has done nothing but improve since subbing here
I’m glad I could help with your audio journey, Zac!
-Miami
Good stuff, man. Keep this info coming. :)
Thanks, Jacob! I really appreciate that you’ve been here so long. Legit since these videos used to get 1000 views to now. It means a lot
-Miami
@@joeymusic of course, man. I’m hyped for ya. I know you had that goal for 50K, and I love seeing it grow. Keep it up! :D
"Cut your mix into pieces. If it's your last resort. Suffocation, it's not breathing. EQ it out so it's sonically pleasing"
LOVE IT! and btw.. you got yourself another sub ; )
i love stuff like this. this is the first i actually heard the volume lower after EQ when you Eq'd out the guitar against the vocals. i think it will be cool to have some sort of ear training series so we can hear the difference in carving out frequencies against 2 or more sources (e.g. Kick against the bass). As you said i never would have heard it unless you pointed it out.
I’d love to do some ear training! We do it on Instagram but I’ll try to find a fun way to do it here.
-Miami
I just love this guy!
Love ya too, Norbert! Thanks for tuning in and helping the channel grow!
-Miami
Please do expand! And thanks a lot for the content.
Of course, Marcelo! I will dig into sidechain, multiband, and dynamic eq soon!
-Miami
subbed for the transition game and this guy
Subbed! Great content!!
Thanks so much! I will keep it coming
-Miami
This was cool and very helpful
Thanks
Always love seeing you here dude! Glad it was helpful.
-Miami
@@joeymusic Thanks to u !!
Love it!
Great video. I got better sound immediately !
Thanks Zen! Would love to hear an a/b!
-Miami
great thanks!
"if you didn't sub by now, I don't know what to do for you." Miami is so enjoyable
Yo this channel saved my mixes now that I’m recording and posting content, thanks guys!!
You’re welcome Marc! Is there anything you’re having trouble with youd want to see on a future episode?!
-Miami
@@joeymusic Would love to know more on drum parallel compression to add punch! Seems like when I try that it usually comes out weird and hissing due to shell bleed!
Thank you!
You’re welcome, Valencia!
-Miami
awesomee!!!!
Bravo!
Love the intro
This channel is a god send. I'm currently having trouble with frequencies in my kick getting muddy with the melodies
What melodies in particular? They’d have to be pretty low to be competing with the muddy area of the kick
-Miami
@@joeymusic So I've got one melody in the 140-500 hz range and another from 180-1k hz range. I get this distorted rumble sound on the left side on the 1 of each bar. I've soloed out each element and it happens when the melodies and kick are together
haha nice transition game!
That intro man... awesome 🤣
the sub joke got me subscribed hahahah, you are so good man
OMG That last resort bit prompted me to hit Like
Lmao, hopefully I explained everything well and you don’t have to find a last resort 😂😂😂
-Miami
Bro your edits are fire. Keepin that content fun and fresh. Keep it up, my dude!
Gotta give it up to my editor Vlad! He kills it
-Miami
That intro was sick 😂
Miami got these Sub jokes 🤣 Keep em coming fam.
I’m on it bro!
-Miami
Alright dude I subscribed
Glad to have you here, Mike!
-Miami
Laughed my ass off. Thanks for the good tricks and tipps
looool still tryna build up my subs, smooth as hell 👏😂
HI, Great video. Question, what makes you choose bettween ducking a frequency, for example the guitar in the "talking range of the vocals" vs just cutting it like you did here? Thanks
Expand! More of this video
you just saved my mixes
I would definitely love more tips in masking. I think this is one of the biggest differences between pro and amateur mixes. Pro mixes just have a clarity while still sounding huge . WTF
The sub transition game in this video makes it worth trying to find a way to somehow subscribe twice on the same account.
I’ll appreciate you twice as much if you figure out how to do that 😂
-Miami
i bopped so hard to the papa roach reference i almost fell out of my chair
lol, I like the song part
I love all this content coming out from you guys. Been a part of Nail the Mix for 3 years now and learned a ton from it but these videos are great little snippets to check out when you don't want to dig through an entire session to find one minor subject!
I think the ONE thing that could use work which will definitely come with more practice and time is that I can clearly tell this isn't how you normally talk to people, it feels very stale and like a commercial. There's definitely a grey area between talking completely like you would to your friend and talking to someone with a "business" voice and I think you just need to keep at it and you'll find it! You've definitely gotten more confident with talking in videos since you started Miami and I think that's the one thing (in my opinion) to focus on most in the future because the content is already amazing!!! Just a bit of minor constructive criticism hopefully it didn't come off dickish!
Dude, I totally hear you. Here is one thing you have to remember. I’m assuming we know each other from URM but a lot of people here don’t know me from over the years. I AM a business person to them because I represent Joeys company. Because of that, I include my humor that is 100 % me, but I still have to be a pro. Maybe there’s a way to make the balance better, but time will tell. I appreciate the criticism though.
-Miami
transition game CRAZYY
I’m gonna level up next episode 😂
-Miami
bro THE FUCKING CUT MY MI X INTO PIECES. the memes are fucking killing me dead
yessir
Haha, I loved this Papa Roach bit.
Man that paparoach parody was awesome
I might start incorporating more bits like that in vids! Def had fun doing it lol
-Miami
Deontay!
To this dayyyy
-Miami
The actual song is dope too
Transition game still crazy.
Imma do my best to keep it that way, Ross!
-Miami
Awesome vid guys, helped a lot, name of the song?
Song is called Damage has been done by GLD! I mixed it, check it out on Spotify!
-Miami
Very interesting video! How would you approach EQing a clean vocal and a scream sung by different singers at the same time in a song?
That deserves its own video!
-Miami
@@joeymusic I am willing to lend you some screams for THAT video :D
"It doesn't even sound like the same drum mix", and I'm over here like 👂🏼👀
Is it okay that rather than boosting track A or cutting from B to do it both but not that drastically(or not)?
1- track A +2dB and track B nothing for 3k range
2- track A +1dB and track B -1 dB for 3k range
It sure can be! You just need to experiment with it yourself and try it out!
-Miami
dang, i knew i was doing the right thing when i always cut everything above 6.4K on bass.
You know what’s good
-Miami
Ooooo cheese . Question still like u....should a death metal bass look like your frequency example? Thats alot of mids
We just got called subs and then told to subscribe lmao
I’m sad those lights aren’t turned on above your speakers
Just for you I’m gonna bring it back
-Miami
Definitely spit my coffee out at the papa roach parody.
Lol glad you thought it was funny, Don.
-Miami
Gimme a whole "war and peace" on frequency masking.
Lmao done deal!
-Miami
Killer video!! The 11 people who dislike this video probably also dislike babies, puppies, birthday cake, and pots of gold. LOL
What song is this?!🔥🔥🔥
Yooooooo
What’s upppp!
-Miami
TITLE OF THE SONG PLSSSSSSS
What is the song. kinda like it :D
It’s called Damage has been done by GLD!
-Miami
@@joeymusic thank you 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I need that band's name! @ 2:38
I'm here for the Papa Roach cheese early on. 😄
Isn’t everybody? Lol. You guys aren’t gonna believe who I’m in the studio with right now. Can’t wait to tell you all next week.
-Miami
Everything about this channel is great besides the sub transitions…lol it was good the first or second time but after a while I get ticked guy
Glad to know you’re steady watching the channel. The thing is, for you it’s hearing it repeatedly. For new watchers it’s an experience. Gotta keep the subs rollin in somehow
-Miami
I need the name of that song 😈
Whats the name of the song?
What is that song??
Lol :D thx for
Anytime!
-Miami
The title of song???
Clarity is what you don’t hear, more than what you hear. It’s the absence of junk
Agreed!
-Miami
Whats the name of this song?
It’s called Damage has been done by GLD!
