Caught at an Abandoned Steel Mill - Asia Trip #7
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лют 2020
- We traveled hours by high speed rail to explore a once massive abandoned Chinese steel mill. However, once we arrived, we realized that demolition has already begun and security was not far behind.

Oh man this is my favourite moment of the whole trip: me and Micheal running crazily, while Bryan and Chris looking shocked seeing us running towards them 😂
My local friends told me that this place was absolutely safe; they camped and barbecued, even did some firework in it. It’s probably just our timing was really bad due to the 70th anniversary of China, and that’s probably why they boosted the security force.
It was insanely hot (and somehow the atmosphere was sticky?!); and lots of mosquitos, that’s why I kept a bug spray in my pocket all the time lol. The vlog brought me right back to the moment, love this ♥️
You saved them so many times. Just going right up to security 😬 👍
You definitely have a way with words young lady. Saving the boys everytime. Nicely done.
BVMotorSports tbh I’ve never known I have this superpower until this trip 😂
XSemperIdem5 they’ve already saw us, probably not wise to hide
Stupid question, have you/do you live in America now? Or visit?
Ran Pan when the police arrive, "I'm gonna do what's called a pro gamer move."
Ten minutes later, we've successfully avoided prison...or worse.
she is fearless, just have to say
♥️
Ran Pan you’re the best! Thanks for keeping you and the boys safe 😊
Boner inspiring...
Ran Pan does not mess around! She is an awesome urbexer and is keeping y’all safe.
Linda - Beauty in Decay Explorations I don’t! (Lol joking
It sounded like he was giving her a hard talking the first couple minutes of being busted. It helps to have a native speaking local diplomat on the team.
The chickens snitched
probably :D
Chickens Cluck. Pigs squeal. ;-)
Chicken get stitches
Chicken pot pie anyone? 😹
Yeah, i think the same, lol... Chicken is alwaaays chick..
You owe Ran big time for saving your butts many times
Chris Longbeard Ran got us into trouble in the first place, so I think it’s only fair that she saved us too, lol. I talked with her for a few years about this trip and she said it would be easy (e.g., no rules about trespassing, maybe encounter an old security guard, etc). I feel like we were lucky to get out with just a few scratches and bug bites, lol. She definitely has the gift of persuasion!
Bad practice to assume cameras are inactive/dead, unless it's very obvious.
Good video, I'm surprized guards, keepers, "half cops" are so nice in china and just shoo intruders out. I guess it helps to have a native do the talk, and not run away(guards get pissed if they have to chase you).
Yes, electronics seem to be able to last a whole century more times than not.
Somehow I never realized this second channel exists up til now
Same!
Hey guys, when you're travelling in the future, it might be worth looking into a currency travel card. Something like a Caxton card. You can preload it with any currency you need and if they don't have an option for a particular currency, load it with your home currency and it will be automatically converted to the local currency of the country that you've travelled to and you don't pay conversion rates per transaction either.
You can then load money on to it again and again as necessary and take it out at ATMs.
(Ran) We thought this area was open for tourists.
(Security) Did you not see the massive fence and gates?!
(Ran) *rolls a nat 20 on social check*
(Security) Ok.. I believe you.. just get out of here!
Never underestimate the value of good RNG. 😅
Be careful of taxis and other conveyances that leave your luggage unsecured, they have thieves and pickpockets who will run up and grab your luggage then run off! This happened to me in one of the Beijing airport hotels morning bus. All luggage in the back, and as soon as we stopped, some rando yanked the rear lift gate open and snatched MY luggage! Luckily I was sitting in the last row and I was able to vault the seat and catch the guy and yank my suitcase out of his hands! He even tried to grab it back until I started screaming THIEF!
8:17 LOOK AT ALL THOSE... CHICKENS
Yummy, chickens, Chinese chicken rice and bamboo shoots.😍
I love that you worried about the chickens getting out.
Please keep the videos coming! Really have been enjoying them!
It's friggin amazing how many times a place is being demolished or boarded up while you guys are there.
OMG this is my home town! feels so good seeing it on youtube!
One big question what the hell did you do with your suitcases when the taxi dropped you off at the location on the side of the street😂😂😂
they probably went to a hotel beforehand, then got on a different taxi to the steel mill
It would be cool if Ran joined you on future trips. She seems to really fit into the Proper People vibes.
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Neat that you found an SY class steam engine. Several of the ones built in 1989 were brought to the United States for tourist operations. There is one operating near me at the Valley Railroad in Essex Connecticut, now disguised as the New Haven 3025.
Cool video. Have spent many months in industrial areas of China in recent years. Fascinating place. Challenge (as you are finding) is despite so much immense unused and retired infrastructure - there's SO MANY people that you cannot get out of sight. Add to that the complete lack of westerners - I find they treat you with so much respect. China is so much the amazing place and it is sad how poorly they are stereotyped by the western countries.
China is an amazing place. The CCP is not.
@@AstroNerdBoy A large part of why it's amazing is because of the Communist Party. You probably know nothing about "the CCP" except garbage Western lies and propaganda.
Great video 👍
Proper People, then we do "Thumbs up" first, then we watch! Always great content! :)
Absolutely amazing ❤️😍 love them
I do the same thing cuz you know it's going to be great
I knew you guys were going to have issues doing urbex in China. It doesn't surprise me at all. But I much appreciate and respect those balls of steel you both have for trying!
I love all ur viedos
Can't get enough of these Vlog Style videos.
Legit the most interesting thing ever now I'm inspired to get some friends and go to abandoned places
1989 built steam loco.. Who would have thought??
Yeah I was thinking more like 1889..
well steam locomotives are pretty cool
If i would´ve been owner of that steel mill i wouldve kept that thing running to for a bit :)
@@lilrip2691 well.. its based on a 1920's locomotive :P but it was build until 1999
China still burns lots of coal for other uses so a steam engine in 1989 is a natural fit especially if the steel mill is coal fired.
I have seen vids of other steam locos working in china but what gets me is why its such an old design for a relatively new build.. There weremuch more efficient designs around in the 30s n 40s.. I guess you dont have to worry when the coal is cheap and the labor endless.
Cool video love your urban China explorations you guys have guts!!!!
great content
Not sure how many more videos in this series, I’ve watched them all so far. So, would you ever go back? Or was once enough? You had many challenges, but did you enjoy it, or was it just a lot of hard work? I am really glad you got home safely though, and didn’t end up seriously injured or worse.
Nice work guys !! Keep it up, glad you’re leading the way when it comes to exploring abandon facilities and for showing respect and not vandalizing the properties,
especially when you’re in foreign countries !
Tip when travelling abroad, always call your credit and debit card companys to enable over seas purchases. If you are to give a time frame of when to disable it again, always give a few days later than when you are supposed to get home incase of flight delays.
They may have been half police, but they were full mad
He probably said horrible things to her in the first two minutes, but she defused the situation. She was a great asset to their team.
Did that hotel have a projector instead of a TV?
loved the video thanks for sharing
Growing--up, Chinese wrenches were the worst of all the wrenches. They'd snap in half like toothpicks. So I always wondered, just what in the hell was happening inside the Chinese steel factory? Thanks, guys.
Really? I wonder if you just bought a cheap one compared to normal wrenches
Oh look, one of those situations:
-Buy cheap ass wrench for 5 bucks that was made for some basic home stuff.
-Expect to be good as 40 buck wrench and use it for proper work.
-It break.
-Cry that Cheap ass wrench was not good as proper one.
Also for your information, most of good tools are also made in China and branded as US/EU
Akinaro everything made from China sucks. All tools made in America actually last.
@@Nikkk6969 hahaha yeah right 😂
Akinaro well not all but most
thanks for reminding me of San Holo! awesome video as always! :)
Man, darn pinkertons. Hope your cold is better Michael. Great footage as always.
Lol it just occurred to me that you guys make a living out of trespassing 🤣
Since I just found out about that second channel and went back and found the asylum, which made me check out the main channel asylum video where you describe what Bumps in the night is: Why did you stop? No locations? Not enough interest?
Real pity that you got caught. Would love to see another steel mill video.
Beautiful train.
I love for these! ❤️
wow tho! we have that very same blue building here in tennessee
I prefer ur vlogs than ur main channel...
Rough times
What song do you guys use for the intro ?
my favouite video guys
That's pretty neat. 🤣
Love the videos … Hopefully you guys don’t get sick 😷
Alice Innes they left long before the virus showed up on the scene
Oh shit I almost forgot you guys went to China but Coronavirus now confirmed. Gonna miss you guys
This country hasn't been very kind to our lads.
Don't think I'll ever be going there based on what I've seen here.
Nice reasoning.
Go to any other country, and most important, place that was not made for tourist. You will get the same situations or even worst.
Spain? Australia? or even(especially) US.
If you trespass private/gov area its obviously you get problems and not kind response to that.
Also go to Japan you will get even worst problems. Japan is known fro being anti-foreigners outside tourist places. They treat you like lower-class people, you dont have any rights there.
The same with US in many places outside tourist/big cities. Go to any less known place as tourist and you get the same response and problems.
But no, only China is bad... xD xD
lmao aussies are no where near as hostile, give them a beer and you're probally getting a full tour lol
Such big arms you have lol🤣
Awesome find guys. Sucks that security got you at the end. At least they plan to do something with it
Your next trip should be in Australia! Lots of abandoned places here
Please don’t encourage them one in Brisbane 🤨
you guys should have complemented them about their sick scooters.
@12:42 Didn't you mean 1889? ;-) I'm 27 years older than a Steam Engine? I should be put on display. LOL!
China was really late phase out steam locomotives, they'd produce them up to 1999, and ran them even longer.
Sorry i didnt get that...did you say camera???😂😂
That guy in uniform is actually just a guard, land owner hired him to take care of the place, he couldn't arrest you guys😂😂😂 but it doesn't mean you can ignore him, he could just call the police for your trespassing private land.
Sometimes the guards in China wear very similar uniform as police, you can recognize real police by looking at if they have Police badge or not. Even a lot of Chinese can't tell . That's why the guards wear uniform similar to police to make people scare😂
Pretty ballsy taking a pair of raybans with you. I’d just take cheap pairs with me since I break/lose so many
They were probably China knockoffs and not genuine I'd bet
Unrelated to this video but, did you do more than one location in Japan? It's just so beautiful :)
How was the general air quality and pollution over there? take care!
Gordonseries385 looked like a smog over everything, didn’t it?
@@christinerobinson890 yes
Gordonseries385 One of their earlier vlog episodes show the thick smog from our train. I expected the smog but it was insane to see it up close!
👍🏼🤘🏼😎
Sometimes it's just not a party unless the police show up at the end!
LOOK AT ALL THOSE CHICKENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Should have asked the security if they took credit card bribes.
I’m surprised cops didn’t arrest you. Don’t they usually do that to foreigners?? But I have to hand it to Asian guards for being more on top things than in America.
Simonne - no actually. Police are very tolerant to foreigners. Its easy to pull the “ we didn’t know “.
Pan tan got them off...
I thought she was sick? Happy she is back!!
H Simpson aww thanks for remembering me! My puffy face was disappearing
@@rantropolis Yes we love you !! it is so fun having you in the videos.
H Simpson ♥️
If Prince and Liam Neeson were UA-camrs.
I wanna know what Ran said to get you guys out of hot water lol.
Astor Reinhardt playing innocent, as innocent as you could ever be lol
@@rantropolis the guy sounded pretty angry at you guys. Did they say that your trespassing or something? I know like 3% of Chinese.
@@rantropolis Did you use your feminine charm on them? I have to assume that helps a lot in these situations.
Kurtis McKemmie yeah he was super mad at first, saying we got into this place we shouldn’t, and asking how and why we got there.
Astor Reinhardt haha just charm in general lol jk, but I didn’t tbh
Well, as a Chinese, I can tell that he is not a police but just a security guy, he cannot arrest you lol. But maybe he can call the cops
The train engine was beautiful. :)
Should of offered him a coke and a smile.
🤣
Should have offered him some coke
cocaine or cola XD
That security guard did not sound happy 😬 thank goodness you had your friend (Ran?) with you. Too bad the explore was cut short but at least we got to see that cool steam engine.
Whst happen to you guys i not seen a vlog in long time
The things you guys go through - wow! I kept telling myself ‘they’re safe and back in the states.’ Me? I’d be freaking out being chased down by half police in China.
I just subscribe I like your channel a lot there's another Channel out there called.. Press On ...You sound just like this guy
RAN PAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That China trip is do depressing...
Are you guys brothers? Or just friends? Lol
Forrest Nelson : friends. Odd question. Lol
@@EphemeralProductions that's odd? Are you guys lovers? Now that's weirder to ask
They just look alike and I was curious lol
Cesar Cueto true. Lmao
Forrest Nelson to me they look nothing alike. Lol
They just never stop building shit
that's whyyou don't wear white pants when you're doing dirt. everyone else wore black except that one guy... good job.
Those "half police" are just private security guards. Most of them wear the same uniforms across China, called "bao-an" but they are just private guards. The police wear a much different, blue uniform (they are called "jingcha" meaning police, or "gong-an" meaning public security). I don't think baoan have arrest power, aside from a "citizens arrest" similar to the US. I was caught in a closed public park during the coronavirus lockdown and they just told me to leave.
never really got anywhere?
feb 2020. scary time to be in china
China is a nice place to visit as long as you don't take any deep breaths.
2:00 CHERNOBYL
Normally dogs call security but this time... it's the damn chickens! 😀
Welcome to the motherland.
U two need a Tik Tok!!!!!!! Steve Ronin made one and its AWESOME!!!!!
I think their closest call in China was not getting the corona virus. 😂
Coronavirus says hi.
Sooooo ... not abandoned :) One of these days I am looking forward to a spoof urbex series where two guys called Bob and Cody "explore the abandoned DisneyLand Florida and have a homeless (read: guests) encounter" or one where they break into the "abandoned LAPD headquarters and get busted by some dumbass guy in a probably fake police uniform" :D
That steam engine wasn’t built in 1989 At that time diesel locomotives were. That steam engine is more like 1889
Nope it was 1989. This particular model was manufactured until 1999, more info: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China_Railways_SY
yall are the cutest couple- lov ur vids!
@Ran Pan, you are doing real great but have you tried Wrigley's? This vid but with Chinese Police: ua-cam.com/video/M1CHjgA97Po/v-deo.html
why was i unsubscribed from you?
crazy fact, this type of locomotive was build until 1999, one of the last major class of steam locomotives to be produced anywhere in the world - wiki
