The only problem is the fill and drain are at the same height. You’re not really replacing all the water. The best way is to fill from the bottom this way it forces the old water out as the new water rises.
Not a bad idea.....however, I find it a bit amusing that a manufacturer used simple butt connectors (and actually demonstrated crimping a connector with the "wire cutting" portion of the hand tool, not the crimping portion of the tool). If used in salt water, this setup would fail rather quickly because the battery terminals and other portions of the wiring is exposed to raw sea water and salt air.
Great video, until I saw you wire it up. It all went down hill fast from there! 1) You used the "rod cutter" on the wire crimp/splicing tool to crimp the barrel connectors! 2) That is not a shrink tubing barrel connector. Use liquid tape instead! (you need to seal the "cuts" in the barrel connector anyways!) 3) Use silicone around the threads of the switch to keep water from getting under boot cap. 4) Always seal both sides of any through hull attachment that is below the water line!
+Steven Andresen #1 I heard him say wire cutter?.. #2 True didn't seem to act like a shrink barrel, don't need liquid tape just a proper shrink for those particular connections #3 & #4 yes to both, was surprised he didn't silicon both sides of the through hull.
Steven Andresen The Marine Goop is a contact adhesive and sealant for marine applications. I agree with you on #2 and #3. I would also add a drain plug for rinsing/cleaning out the well after each use. This video, even though not perfect, in my opinion is a really good basic “How-To” for everyone looking for ideas. Just tweak what you need to make it the way you want. I’m getting ready to start my project and hope to video it in progress. I live on North Padre Island and have a Native Watercraft Slayer PDL. I take it in the flats in the Laguna Madre, as well as offshore a couple of miles on really calm days. Well, I’m off to do some thinking and design work. Tight Lines and Happy Fishing to all!
Well good deal man, good easy quick....however tge pump i have is the tsunami 1100gph one...its wayyyy to much water unless your livewell is a 550 gallon fishtank
A better idea would be to use a one way scupper on the outside overflow, allowing water to exit but not enter as the kayak is fairly low in the water. The fact that there is no drain to empty the tank is also laughable. Nice try Malibu but you missed the mark this time.
Battery is too small, Mine lasted about an hour- after checking on my amp draw and calculating I need a 35 amp hour battery to last about 5 to 6 hours. If you had answered the question before from Sharky Wolf I could have adjusted and got a bigger battery
Trop bien !
Vraiment une bonne idée de conception adaptable pour d'autres projets.
Extrêmement bien filmé !
Brilliant. Makes me wish I bought a Malibu instead of an Ocean Kayak. I really like the how neat and tidy the finish is on the bait tank.
Couldn't have been a better tutorial! Going to have to do this to my xfactor when I get it!
awesome video - great tutorial.

They should really make that compartment removable. It would solve a bunch of concerns and drilling into the kayak
Good job.
great job 👌🏻👌🏻

No fuse needed for this tank?
GREAT video! Too bad my Eagle Talon doesn't have the built in bait tank.
Do they still sell this bait tank ?
Seems this guy needed all of Home Depot
Where can I get the overflow drain?!
what type of toggle switch is that? what are the specs, AC ? Amps?
+Sharky Wolf 12v. since i used the same bat.

Where can I get those 1"1/2 overflow drains ?! Does anyone can help?!

The overflow needs to be way bigger
I bought this exact kayak in Charleston for 1100. Fml
wish i could have seen how it came out but that annoying background music ughhhh
voice over far too soft compared to backing music.
slightly camp also!
forgot the fuse
