We are dealing with a drought in NC and the lawn is turning brown from no rain. So we do not want to apply fertilizer in a drought.
Using a soil test to fix my soils problems. Using Lime for my lawn, what does lime do to soil? Lime for your lawn will raise the Soil Ph level to a more neutral range and help your grass gain access to more available nutrients. A low soil PH is bad for your lawn, a PH of 6-7 is optimal for your Lawn.
Adding Calcium to my soil to help fix hard compacted soil and ordering the yard mastery compaction cure with RGS and liquid aeration AIR-8. To help my lawn grow deeper roots and handle drought stress better.
Also using Microgreen 0-0-2 to add micronutrients to my soil, to improve green color of my lawn, and get a deeper green lawn.

Great advice Shane ! Last year I couldn’t understand why I was struggling to get the results from the products I was putting down. Did a soil test and found out my ph was at 3.5. Raised it up to 6.5 (after 420lbs of lime). Made all the difference in the world !

You can apply anytime, but I would shoot for the time of the year you are dry and not getting alot of rain. I wouldn't apply if ground is frozen and temps are low

I would also suggest not relying on the same soil test company. You can get the same soil from the same hole, and have several different results.

Yeah here in South Texas my Bermuda yard is looking good , about 8 inches of rain in a month or less. We just need the heat and sunshine to really push it. I know in July and August here it's going to be struggling though. Also a soil kit is a must have Imo to get your yard to that next level.

    • @ShaneHeath
