Seeing a lot of comments saying that the movement is unsettling yet they can’t tell why. I animate, even though I don’t post a lot of my serious stuff, and I’ve become a lot more observant on how things move, and upon watching this, here’s why I think it looks strange to most. The movement is steadier than a normal object would move. As for I’ve learned in animation, things look more natural when it goes like this; The beginning of the movement starts slow. In the middle, speed up a bit. And end the movement slower again. It’s not drastic, but it’s how things move, even if it’s unnoticeable. In the animations, they are slowly, smoothly moving, nothing to brace themselves for the movement or showing there’s any momentum at all. It makes them look less human, and more.. like a creature or robot. No humanity. Anyways, hope that made sense, even if I’m a year late, pfft-

Casey C She doesn’t really change her style to fit the song. She uses different instrumentals so when she sings it’s in her voice range. The original had more soothing, low guitars, little to no techno at all and was lower pitch. While this one is higher pitched because her voice can’t go that low. The cover is good but it’s not as good as Will Stetsons cover. And using your words, He doesn’t just sing the song, he becomes the singer.

But compare her singing in this song to her singing in songs like Mind Brand or Echo; year they were sung aside, they definitely have a different quality to them.

There's a good reason too why you don't see many accurate explanations of the song. Yellow is the colour of homosexuality in Japan, sure, but in the creator's mind it is also the colour of shame (or, the navel chakra, which is said to be blocked by shame). He is led into a type of lifestyle that he hates out of a need for security that isn't given to him anywhere else. The divide between (young) males and females in Japan is abnormally large (hence the top-heavy population). You can see several times throughout the song his regret for a naive mistake, but being snared by the devil figure for his curiosity. The police cars in the background, the darkness swallowing him, a demon that only changes form when he hits it. He is trying to escape something that holds a piece of his own self hostage, and that part is the Yellow. Look as well to the themes of disgust and sickness, and think of the stomach. Womanly intuition, satiation, and comfort (see: chakras, and the fashion both are wearing) is something he tries to replicate, but fails to (in the original song: "affection is just a cheap "high" to throw away"). He finds nothing in his partner (notice there's nobody else but the devil in the song, btw), or in any of his other attempts to find intimate comfort in another human being ("there's no salvation within your reach...). He regrets the decision he has made, but a "puppet" is better than nothing ("yet I still recall your warmth...). Thus, the devil's snare still remains tight even after he ends the relationship. Despite the essay length there's still a lot more to this, but you can find it yourself in the lyrics, though I'd suggest looking to the original. And, if it wasn't already obvious, this is the reason that you don't see many explanations; in america a cultural revolution is occurring that celebrates homosexuality, and thus even talking about it as a mistake as expressed in this song is very, very taboo. As in, it'd be shameful for most of us overseas to even think of. Our Yellow is blocked too. Also Juby's voice is heavenly as always.
My theory would be as many other said a kid facing the harsh reality’s inside the entertainment industry like at 0:27 you can see in the background what seems to be balloons in a way representing freedom and endless possibility’s while in the next clip in 0:36 looks like a noose almost the polar opposite of that. The kid expected to be free and have fun but in reality it was suffocating and the child was trapped. Not mention it says “Tidy up the toys we do it every single night” You can see him putting a box over his head I’d say it represents a toy box meaning that he is the toy and nothing but a pawn for his label. And at 2:19 I belive the other man is his manager and how he finally has the guts to try and leave and then you see him drowning back in it could be because of his contract being to scared to leave. Also 2:31 the background seems as stage lights How their always moving and flickering during concerts hinting he ends up back on stage. Yoh Kamiyama is the author of this song. He is Japanese if it wasn't obvious enough from his name. I seriously recommend you check him out. It might be a bit off putting since his songs are all in Japanese and it sound different (and you most likely won't understand shit) but he is, low key, one of the best singers and songwriters i have seen so far. So check him out. His songs are similar to Yellow. More or less.

Listening to the song a bunch of times over I’m getting the impression that the “demon” here is an older guy that continues to convince the kid to remain in the closet and not come out as gay. Okay so this is my theory. But my theory is the boy is a victim of abuse from parents or an abusive parental love. Also at the 00:50, you can see two people arguing and fighting in the background. Like in that orange area. Also the lyrics. "I'm just a little kid don't leave me all alone again. You're mixing me up in your eyes and can't see me for who I am". Usual, homosexuality isn't discriminated in Japan. Plus the lyrics sound more like a parent who doesn't see their kid for who they are and has the kid under the spell "You cannot live without me." Basically rendering the child feeling he or she's useless and dependant on their parents whom they should be "grateful" for. The demon is wearing a suit, representing the father and heels, representing the mother. Also when the demon pulls back the kid and the song mentions recalling the heat, it still cannot forget the warmth he once received as a kid still. And at the ending, I think he went berserk and ended up killing his parents. As a result of all the cars and the handcuffs and his years at the end out of the fact that he killed his own parents. Also yellow is more depicted as a cheerful color, a color of childhood, innocence and fun. Basically a dark humor since the kid lost his innocence due to the abusive love he faced. Note: this theory was inspired from a comment on the original video which is seemingly gone now.

Listening to the song a bunch of times over I’m getting the impression that the “demon” here is an older guy that continues to convince the kid to remain in the closet and not come out as gay. I've seen a lot of hate on JubyPhonic. But, seriously, does nobody else appreciate the fact that she probably spends so much time trying to figure out the perfect way to change the lyrics so they match the music, but also keeps the meaning of the lyrics? Okay so this is my theory. But my theory is the boy is a victim of abuse from parents or an abusive parental love.
Also at the 00:50, you can see two people arguing and fighting in the background. Like in that orange area. Also the lyrics.

Usual, homosexuality isn't discriminated in Japan. Plus the lyrics sound more like a parent who doesn't see their kid for who they are and has the kid under the spell
"You cannot live without me." Basically rendering the child feeling he or she's useless and dependant on their parents whom they should be "grateful" for.
The demon is wearing a suit, representing the father and heels, representing the mother. Also when the demon pulls back the kid and the song mentions recalling the heat, it still cannot forget the warmth he once received as a kid still.
And at the ending, I think he went berserk and ended up killing his parents. As a result of all the cars and the handcuffs and his years at the end out of the fact that he killed his own parents.
Also yellow is more depicted as a cheerful color, a color of childhood, innocence and fun. Basically a dark humor since the kid lost his innocence due to the abusive love he faced.
Note: this theory was inspired from a comment on the original video which is seemingly gone now.
I think it's so cool that Juby actually breathes. I do't often hear that in songs, and it proves that it's possible to actually sing the song with an actual set of lungs. Really neat. 👍
