  • Not all restorations promise what one’s expectations might be. Almost 49 years here in the beautiful Pine River Valley of Bayfield Colorado, Indian Motorworks has been building, riding and restoring Indian motorcycles exclusively.
We build factory correct machines with only original colors, original style accessories, balanced and blue printed power plants, jig aligned frames and front ends, special brake work, internally balanced wheels and an overall attention to detail throughout the machine.
We’ve set a high bar with criteria that’s consistent in every restoration: easy starting, nice idling, good handling, smooth, quiet and powerful!
As long-time riders and builders we build bikes that are correct, perform well and are turnkey ready.
If you are looking for an Indian to ride, show and enjoy, this ‘51 chief is an excellent choice - not to mention a great investment!
The restoration was done for a friend, who unfortunately lost his life a few years back and now looking for a good home for this exceptional piece. This Chief has matching vin numbers, with an 80 cubic inch motor. The bike is barely broken in with 1202 miles. It runs and performs very well! Strong, quiet, smooth and easy starting!
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me personally.

I was born and conceived When these bikes were being built and sold. boy did I miss out. I was a barn painter in Wisconsin and found a19 47 full dress chief in the lower hey Mow and it was parked when he got out of the war, I didn't have the money to buy it, this was in 1994 before I broke my back on a different motorcycle and had a spinal injury. who knows maybe it's still sitting in the BARN. his kids were not interested in it
