Dark, handsome, moody, intense and sexy as if that wasn't enough and then God added that voice and writing talent as well, Neil had it all goin' on, yes siree!
Actually, I was in the audience for this taping. I was ten years old. I was so impressed with Glen Campbell's talent. After all these years, still one of the best guitar players I have ever seen. R.I.P. Glen.
How cute is he in that navy blue velvet jacket! And it's great to see him having so much fun! ...And he and Linda Ronstadt... hmm... what might have been 😉😄😂
Nobody else could sing a Neil Diamond song as well as Neil Diamond. Linda Rondstadt had one of the all-time great voices, but even she couldn't sing Neil's songs as well as he could.
You know...I remember watching the Glen Campbell show when I was a kid. Now as a 60 year old and viewing several clips of different Glen Campbell shows with Neil Diamond, I honestly believe Glen was Neil's biggest champion during his early years. Although Neil had put out a few albums and had several big hits by this time, I can see that Glen really admired and respected Neil. Glen used his own show to promote Neil's talent to the world. No doubt one of the reasons Neil was so sought after by many top TV musical shows at the time was because of the numerous times Glen had Neil on his show over the many years that Glen's popular show was on the air.
Thank you for this upload!! I fell in love with Neil Diamond in 1970 the first time I heard Cracklin' Rosie. I was HOOKED.But I was only 10 or 11 at the time and getting money out of my parents for a .99 single was more than dad was willing to fork out. A few years later I was able to earn money and my first albums were Neil Diamond. I enjoy Glen Campbell but it is so hard to see him deteriorate due to his Alzheimer's. My mom had it and it was so hard to explain to my young boys why grandma never called them by name. Thankfully she recognized us as people she knew because her face lit up every time we went to the nursing home to see her, but nothing she said made any sense at all. My heart breaks for everyone who is going through this with a family member, it's one of the hardest things to get through.
I would have been in 9th or 10th grade in high school 1971. This brings back memories that I didn't know I had! Such songs and wonderful voices - and the clothes! LOL!
Kathleen Mosley you have a great variety of video! Thank you so much for always sharing with us! I loved this. Neil looks and sounds so good, as usual. I remember these times. So good to revisit them! Thanks again!
I never watched the Glen Campbell Show. Boy, I didn't know what I was missing. Thanks to you Kathleen, I haven't missed this fabulous appearance of Neil.
When Neil Diamond is singing "Cracklin' Rosie" and the female singers join him, I think the black singer standing next to him may be Darlene Love, who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the same year as Neil.
No, the singer next to Neil during "Cracklin' Rosie" was not Darlene Love, it was Patti Henderson. Patti was a regular part of the Goodtime Hour Singers for the entire four years it was on the air. I know this because I was one of them also. The very last song they do - when all 10 of the singers are on stage together - that's six girls and four guys - I'm the tallest guy on the far left of the screen. That was an amazing part of my life. (Jim Wasson)
@@jimwasson8070 thanks for the correct answer of Patti Henderson. I know you must of had a great time with the Goodtime Hour Singers ahh the good old days!!! Was Glen as nice as he seemed on the show . I always loved his music 🎶 ❤ 🙂
@@donnagladden9376 Yes, I did the Goodtime Hour show for the four years it was on television; plus Vegas 12 times with Glen; plus tours; plus recording sessions. And I can only say that Glen was everything you'd want him to be. I actually first met him about 1960 - when he first came to Los Angeles, and really got to know him well over the years. He was an important part of my life.
A gospel tune on Johnny Cash show and an African inspired tune on Glen Campbell are just two example of why the music industry and especially the Grammy awards did not know what to make of Neil Diamond - sad.

Perfect analyse! My words are yours ...
Agree
YES!!!!😍❤️😍❤️😍
Exactly my opinion ...
Amen
Stunning! Sadly Glenn rests in peace and tragically disease prevents Neil and Linda from public performance. 💜💚
They don't make tv shows like this anymore, shame. They don't even make music like this anymore. I wish a network would at least show these re-runs.
Me too like Glen,Engelbert,Tom Jones,Sonny and Cher even Ed Sullivan 😉

Wow. Glen's harmonizing is perfection. Too bad they never recorded together

He is or was the best.Alice Cooper told stories on how others needed to learn guitar better and Glen Campbell's name came up.He is the best.

Neil is gorgeous and the dancers are very talented and controlled, excellent musicians too.
What a gem of a video. I spent the entire duration smiling. Such a treasure.
Three fantastic singers. This is fantastic. But I have to say Diamond is an absolutely gorgeous man. So masculine. Wow.

Soy Asun Prego me as dejado extasiada con estas canciones
Great
Ohh linda .. 😍😍😍
Bonitas todas sus canciones
Viña del Mar, Chile 2018.
Linda Ronstadt is barefoot in this.
Maggie Rogers was seen performing barefoot on Ellen and she isn't the first to do that.
VERNON KIELPINSKI i love maggie rogers
One of the conga players in Soolaimon is King Errison? Right?
Glen sings higher than Linda😂
wait a minute.
is linda ronstadt bare footed?
Ja 😂😂😂, daher auch das Lachen und der häufige Blick auf die Füsse 😂. Neil Ist perfekt, was für ein toller Mann ❤😍🤗
Love Neil. But Glenn could be so so hokey, he made Neil look hip and cool, and he usually wasn't.
Those back up singers sound terrible Neil is would be better without them there they ruined it all
Back up singers were excellent.
