I'm playing this game blind, no spoilers. But from what I've put together, there are a LOT of giant skulls in the game. You can see many engrained into the mountains in Caelid. The problem is that the game occurs right after the war, right? My guess is some of these skulls belong to huge cosmic beings. As I explore underground, I find more and more lovecraftian-esque cosmic beings. Pretty hyped to uncover what all these remains mean.
I've noticed (and I'm sure everyone else) there are small pillars almost everywhere. You can easily jump on them, and there's usually a message saying Try but hole. I don't know if they mean something or they're just used to mark locations
It's not right after, the intro describing war of the demigods says that all of this happened an "age" ago. Whether it means a literal 100 years, an era, or just "a very long time" is unclear.
Me too, I fell when I was jumping around the ramparts and saw that fucking thing at the bottom as I died. One of the coolest moments I’ve ever experienced in a game.
There is a shrine of grace that is next to the lift which is even closer to the area. It's interesting to see all the people in the comments talk about how they missed this section when it was the first part of the area I explored. It goes to show how each person had a totally different adventure with how many routes are available.
The variety in routes is certainly interesting. Me and my friend both got to Volcano Manor through different paths. I looked up a guide afterwards out of curiosity and the video showed a path very similar to mine except the beginning of the route was different. I have no idea how my friend got there because what he described sounded very "all over the place"
@@ardour1587 I think you are forgetting the fact that it's an open world game. I would be very surprised to see another player walk exactly where I did step for step throughout my now 50 hour playthrough.

Coming back to videos like this gives me such joy. Now everyone knows the "alien" is here, it's Godwyn and the "secret boss" you fight is a repeat miniboss, but back in the day exploring this part of the map was so exciting. I remember finding Godwyn after falling down a hole and dying right in front of him; and later spending like 3 hours trying to find a safe way down there.

There's also a bloodstain there that shows someone dying in an extremely obscure way being lifted up in the air and seemingly impaled by something. I did my first playthrough offline and thought nothing of it at first but then realized "I'm offline there shouldn't be bloodstains". Not sure what the significance of it is yet but there has to be something to it if they were willing to put a hint like that there.
Little bit of lore: if you reach the alien face, return to Table Hold and speak to Rogier. He'll explain what it is. In short, this face is related to the downfall of the Elden Ring.

After the disappearance of Marika, the first demi-god Godwyn was murdered by a certain black knife. This led to the shattering of the Elden Ring. I suspect Godrick kept the face for multiple reasons: because he's a descendant of Godwyn and to remind everyone why the Elden Ring was shattered in the first place.
Apparently that's supposed to be the deathroot corrupted head of Godwyn, the first dead demigod. The creature came from inside of it, that's why it looks all deflated. The rest of Godwyn's body is somewhere else though.
It's not, Godwyn is elsewhere entirely and you meet him during an NPC's quests. Yes he has a head like that too, but his is significant different in appearance too with his hair and black skirt and etc. This is much more likely either one of his children of the Golden Bloodline, or a different Primordial Demi-god who was sacrificed to the tree in order to sustain it.

This is a reference to Berserk's Ganishka. After transforming into his Shiva form, that's how his face looked like. Also the Death of Ganishka gave rise to the World Tree, the Berserk's equivalent to the Erdtree.
The path taken to the face that we see in this video is 10x more complicated (not in a bad way) than anything I've ever seen in any open world. Like how an actual fantasy castle would work. Insane how even this micro piece of the game is worlds better than anything else we've seen in this genre.

Every nook and cranny in stormveil castle is its own area it’s insane everytime I come back their, like how if you go jump off the ledge to the left of the exploding barrel eagles, you can find a small area with crucible knight in it
that one threw me off, like there is always things tucked away but that one specifically annoys me with how just out of the way and weird and unneeded it is.

@@exister4959 multiple parts of the castle have a similar layout to boleteria, like the walkout onthe outside of the castle, with the same gimmick of baiting you to fall off attacking the enemy, and i did find the hidden stuff (albeit chasing someone i invaded). I just think the layout sucks, has less meaningful shortcuts, and is too similar to boletaria

theres a whole main questline + huge hidden areas + npcs and endings attached to this secret alone lmao We will be finding stuff in this game for years to come
I was hours beyond Stormveil and I felt like I explored every inch of that place before I realized I never unlocked that damn door next to the lift. When I realized how much I missed when I found this area, I realized just how damn big and crazy this game is. Loving every minute of it.
Yeah I sometimes find teleporters that I think might just take me further into an area. Only to be teleported to a completely different landscape and miles away from the area I've explored lol.
This game is absolutely incredible, I just keep finding stuff on top of stuff on top of even more stuff. you can go dozens of different ways in stormveil castle alone and not have the same adventure twice. The size, scale and sheer variety of different paths to go across the "Lands Between" is incredible. I have no doubt I will be playing this game over the next ten years and still be finding new stuff and adventures every playthrough. This game is a masterpiece plain and simple!
You can walk right coming out from the Liftside Grace and end up there a lot faster. It's not a secret or an alien, it's a key step in Rogier's questline and he explains that it's Godwyn's corpse.
Yeah definitely doesn't qualify as secret or alien. I literally just kept finding ways to go down until I ended up in that arena, and then I noped the heck out of there. I'd say haligtree is a way bigger secret and way harder to achieve.
I gotta do Rogier's quest on NG+ found him on the castle but spoke with him only a couple times, I advanced too much in other quests, the moment I know he was crippled and not talking, then dead.
I found this area because when I was jumping on Stormveil's rooftops, I fell to this place and was like "WTF is this squid thing???? There's even an underground area beneath Stormveil??"
If you travel back to the dungeon at the very first of the game and use keystone to unlock it, it right beside the grace, you can officially see the "boss" health bar and it's official name instead of just a health bar on the top of itself.
I know this game has been out for nearly over a month now, but that running jump he does at 0:19 is just _sooo_ satisfying. So much has changed since planning how not to scew up a vault underneath the bridge that holds up the waterway entrance so that we could buy Artorias' armour from Domhnall.

When exploring Limgrave, I thought that surely Stormveil Castle was just an illusion -- just window dressing, like a skybox. That FromSoft was playing with perspective to make it looks larger. No. Stormveil is fucking GIANT.
I swear, FOMO is real in this game. Things like this that I missed lol. Every time I'm in a new territory or castle I know I'm gonna miss something. I'm already at Altus Plains and now I need to go back for this.

2 things i noticed, part way through the run u find a short cut back to another grace u can unlock so u dont have to run here again, also kill the tree spirit thing and it drops a golden seed.
there is a short cut to this from a checkpoint passed the wall of opponents with the fat guy and dog... from the checkpoint go right and jump... you get hurt a bit but you can go down quickly to the rat area and from there move to the boss. Boss is hard though never got to beat it 😅. Alternatively you can pay a stone key and there would be a ladder going down straight to the boss.
The only games that used to reward you with such in depth explorations, are mostly cRPG like Baldgur's Gate, Divinity Original Sins, Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder, etc. Elden Ring (and truly, almost every FromSoft games) are also part of those rewarding games on the market that really congrats the Players for adventuring in zones without any form of visual indicators. But what I really like about FromSoft games, are the Ghost Marks, Bloodstain and Messages from other players. I remember seeing a ghost mark of another player jumping out of a cliff from what seemed to be an impossible jump. I check under that cliff, analyzed it and saw a very small platform where I could land. And the cryptic messages that players can give to other players make the World seem alive and organic. Like if you are in a Dungeon and Dragon pen and paper experience where you work alone but with some help here and there from a Game Master. Thank god that some studios like that exist and don't follow the boring Open World formulas of Ubisoft games.
I always liked that feature in souls games. You are alone in the middle of hell, then see encouraging messages or a ghost resting in a bonfire with you. Feels epic.
LOL they literally copied this level design style from Castlevania and Metroid, From is nothing special and they only shine these days cuz gaming in general has gone to shit in terms of quality, attention to details and not holding the player's hand.
And speaking of Ubisoft, why is ok for From to recycle their decade old formula non-stop, but Ubisoft gets flamed for doing the same? Also, sweet mother of recycled enemies lol the "secret" boss in this area can be found in at least FOUR other places..
So here's how I found out about this place. Some NPC kicked me off some ledge and I fell from god knows how long. Iwas surely dead. I was falling for more than 5 seconds I think, and the odds were so high that I fell right on top of the big-head thing and died, essentially making it all the way down to the depths of Stormveil Castle. When I saw that thing after a fall that felt like ages I was flabergasted. I went "what the fuck? Where did Ifall? What is this place? What?" and then I went down there. It was really strange falling down for some time only to end up in this place, such a sudden change.
wow just beat the game, well over 100 hours in and super high level, had no idea about this, still so many hidden secrets in old areas to go back to, great find!!
There are two other locations of these. They are tree spirits. One is guarding the burned Tree under Volcano Manor and the other one I found is in the Golden City. Sadly these aren’t aliens
Ya, several more of them, I'll avoid spoiling it though since some of them come out as a bit of a surpise in areas, but suffice it to say there's a lot of places to explore and end up fighting the same enemies.
The first time I came across this place was when I entered the area where mostly all the exiles are sleeping and one of those horn exile's on a stage to the left of me. I then saw a bunch of bags stacked on top of each other in front of me so I decided to climb them and do some random parkour, I managed to miscalculate the jump fell all the why down this giant hole and died where that Lovecraftian looking creature is, I then pan the camera left to see what's making the ground shake and saw that thing popped out of the ground and said I "well, now I know where I'm not going"
You know its been a long time where a game on launch lived up to the hype and is ACTUALLY finished and not adding basic game content later on Btw that thing looks like squidward lol
To those who went down there on accident and want to keep your runes (like me) just jump your way on top of the giant face. Wormy will get bored and go to the other side of the area. Once he is about to hit the wall and turn back run for the ladder and climb like hell
The “alien” is the remains of Godwyn, basically the first demigod killed, there is 1 under stormveil and in the subterranian shunning grounds. Godwyn was killed by the black knife assassins
**SIDE QUEST SPOILER** I believe it’s a god of nightmares, there’s another one near a boss fought inside of Fia’s nightmare and that weird droopy face is in the area but when you fight the boss it’s not, but it’s not the boss.
The bloodstain animation of Rogier looks like the animation for when you die of death-blight (or whatever this games version of curse/petrification is) so I think its implied Rogier got death-blighted and lost use of his legs
omg whaaat??? really???? oh fuck! now Im sad. I really went apeshit and freaked out cause I saw a bloodstain while offline. Turns out it was the poor dude? Aww man :( But what killed him??? It couldnt have been the Tree Spirit monster thing, maybe I saw it wrong because I sprinted away as it happened scared that the face was gonna be a hidden boss or something, but it looked like he got lifted in the air as he died. I mean, if it was as the comment below you and I saw the animation wrong, it still doesnt explain what killed him since the spirit doesnt have an attack like that.
There is another secret boss if you climb out the the west side and drop down you'll break a ledge and fall down too a knight with red armour who can fly and use fire like a pheonix, will be going back to try kill him here shortly.
Go past him, there is an elevator that leads to a previous site of grace. Step on it but don't ride in it. Bait the crucible knight in the hole where the elevator was. Easy win.
@@Kuonluw I just stabbed him in the back once he was staring at the wall in the crevasse to the left of where you approached him, lost his agro by running back to where you land in the bushes and waited for him to keep staring at the wall, rinsed and repeated few times till he was done. Easy as cheese lol
So i see people in the comments saying this is Godwyn, its not Godwyn, you meet him in an NPC's questline under the tree, the entire quest of the NPC revolves around him and his existence under the tree. This head isn't Godwyn, its someone else, and more then likely involved with the stories constant cycle of life, death, and sacrifice to sustain the tree. Meaning its like a child of Godwyn's which is known as the Golden Pantheon based on the location of this head. More can be found throughout the world. Each of the Demigods had children, and you determine their lineage based on their Great Rune's picture, the Golden Pantheon being 3 rings, Radahns father who I think is called Radagon, and etc. You can learn this by reading the Greater Runes after you recover their power.
Rogier directly tells you it's Godwyn. Whether or not its true is unverified, but as it stands, it's quite literally the only definitive proof of anything stating what it is. So.
Liftside Bonfire, Take the doorway to the right that takes you outside when you spawn in, Take a right when you get outside there should be a body sitting that may have had an item you picked up, Jump down to the ledge below, jump to walkway, jump on wood platforms until you hit bottom and you're there in the same area. Sorry OP, you took the long way.
And when you go that place there’s actually a bloodstain on the right and it’s not just some player it was actually rogier dying because he got death blighted by something and we don’t know
This area is part of the Sorcerer Rogier quest line, just in front of the skull a little to the right you will see a blood stain that will show him being lifted up into the air. Even if you're playing blind, I'd always recommend looking at the NPC questlines as they are almost always vague as hell and most people would never figure them out on their own.
That was an insanely long path to get there. There is a ledge between a site of grace and that statue that has to be broken by a giant you can just drop straight down with some cotton... I accidentally ended up there in my first exploration of the castle. I immediately ran and came back like 15 levels later lol.
i forgot which grace but it overlooks the courtyard coming from the main gate, get out of that grace and go right and jump down the wooden beams and that’s it
I like how in some places you can bypass what are essentially locks. I got to this same boss, but with out all the parkouring around, though I did have to use a stonesword key.
Finally someone posted about this, I found it day 1 but I don’t stream and I couldn’t find anyone else that had found it. That thing kicked my butt so I was hoping to see someone else kill it.
It's interesting to note that It wasn't Godwyn's body that died but his soul, that's what you learn from a quest. So, seeing him in two places may have something to do about it (his "resting place" is part of a different quest. Idk, I'm not Vaati.
At first, I thought this was the main boss to get the great rune everyone's talking about. Killed it, then thought, 'Oh, the boss was optional. lol' Then went back up and killed the actual boss of the castle.
i didnt find this entire secret area until like 15 hours in after I back tracked to the castle so I could put my coop sign for the boss fights. Insane how much in hidden away in this game
For anyone wondering how to cheese the boss, you'll need a buddy, summon him there have him jump the ruins in the middle (you'll see a crease you can jump up on, then you can have him jump to this empty cubby to the left that has a whole view of the arena, you jump down and he can bombard him with spells and arrows with reletive ease with being hit by any attacks except the aoe explosion he uses at half health (your buddy can just roll backwards to the back of the cubby to avoid it)
I'm playing blind, but couldn't resist a video that had 'alien' in the title. But I agree with everyone else in the comments. The secrets and exploration are insane. I went in to a Catacomb, thinking there would be the standard one boss after you open the door... But I hit a wall and it disappeared to reveal a 2nd boss, an assassin that I luckily beat first time. When I realised some walls can disappeared, I thought to myself that I've probably missed even more secrets (this is my first souls game).
The Black Knife Assassin that drops the FP talisman, right? I've been hitting pretty much every fucking wall I see after that. Most are, obviously, duds, but I found a few invisible walls inside Caria Manor.
I actually "found" this boss. I fell of and landed in the hole dying, but while I died the boss got out of the ground and I could see him for a brief moment. But I thought it would be a normal boss to be fair
Thats the Long way, the shorter way is right by the fire resting place and just jump down. There is also a trick to easily beat that monstrosity. Hide behind the alien face by the left side. You can still get hit but rarely due to the arching terrain the enemy ends up throwing his hits upward and missing you.
Oh man, I looked at that ledge at 0:18 last night as I played through the castle and turned back then forgot about it until seeing this. Never expected so much of the area I missed because of that, although that tree spirit thing may have curb stomped me so not all bad I guess 😅
It's actually not an alien, its the first demigod killed by the black knife assassins, or something like that (not sure if it's actually dead). But it is the 1 that cursed the spellblade you meet at the castle.
The blood splatter on the very right at 1:57 is actually of an NPC (Rogier). When you view it, go talk to him for additional dialogue. The woman who gives you the consumable buff in roundhold table also has additional dialogue too.
It's actually insane the levels of exploration in this game.

@@TheCloudeGraves yeah but it's still all in the castle, the confusing complicated layout is crazy impressive when you think of all the other castle 'levels' in games. It's one of those things that elden ring went above and beyond with.
Every nook and cranny in stormveil castle is its own area it’s insane everytime I come back their, like how if you go jump off the ledge to the left of the exploding barrel eagles, you can find a small area with crucible knight in it
that one threw me off, like there is always things tucked away but that one specifically annoys me with how just out of the way and weird and unneeded it is.

@@exister4959 multiple parts of the castle have a similar layout to boleteria, like the walkout onthe outside of the castle, with the same gimmick of baiting you to fall off attacking the enemy, and i did find the hidden stuff (albeit chasing someone i invaded). I just think the layout sucks, has less meaningful shortcuts, and is too similar to boletaria

I was hours beyond Stormveil and I felt like I explored every inch of that place before I realized I never unlocked that damn door next to the lift. When I realized how much I missed when I found this area, I realized just how damn big and crazy this game is. Loving every minute of it.

Yeah I sometimes find teleporters that I think might just take me further into an area. Only to be teleported to a completely different landscape and miles away from the area I've explored lol.

This game is absolutely incredible, I just keep finding stuff on top of stuff on top of even more stuff. you can go dozens of different ways in stormveil castle alone and not have the same adventure twice. The size, scale and sheer variety of different paths to go across the "Lands Between" is incredible. I have no doubt I will be playing this game over the next ten years and still be finding new stuff and adventures every playthrough. This game is a masterpiece plain and simple!

You can walk right coming out from the Liftside Grace and end up there a lot faster. It's not a secret or an alien, it's a key step in Rogier's questline and he explains that it's Godwyn's corpse.

Yeah definitely doesn't qualify as secret or alien. I literally just kept finding ways to go down until I ended up in that arena, and then I noped the heck out of there. I'd say haligtree is a way bigger secret and way harder to achieve.

I gotta do Rogier's quest on NG+ found him on the castle but spoke with him only a couple times, I advanced too much in other quests, the moment I know he was crippled and not talking, then dead.

If you travel back to the dungeon at the very first of the game and use keystone to unlock it, it right beside the grace, you can officially see the "boss" health bar and it's official name instead of just a health bar on the top of itself.

I know this game has been out for nearly over a month now, but that running jump he does at 0:19 is just _sooo_ satisfying. So much has changed since planning how not to scew up a vault underneath the bridge that holds up the waterway entrance so that we could buy Artorias' armour from Domhnall.
I believe its a "Ulcerated Tree Spirit", you fight one in the first Stonesword fog door at the start of the game.

When exploring Limgrave, I thought that surely Stormveil Castle was just an illusion -- just window dressing, like a skybox. That FromSoft was playing with perspective to make it looks larger.

2 things i noticed, part way through the run u find a short cut back to another grace u can unlock so u dont have to run here again, also kill the tree spirit thing and it drops a golden seed.
there is a short cut to this from a checkpoint passed the wall of opponents with the fat guy and dog... from the checkpoint go right and jump... you get hurt a bit but you can go down quickly to the rat area and from there move to the boss.
Boss is hard though never got to beat it 😅. Alternatively you can pay a stone key and there would be a ladder going down straight to the boss.
All the Ulcerated Tree Spirits drop Golden Seeds, pretty much a requirement if you want to max out your flask counts.

The only games that used to reward you with such in depth explorations, are mostly cRPG like Baldgur's Gate, Divinity Original Sins, Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder, etc.
Elden Ring (and truly, almost every FromSoft games) are also part of those rewarding games on the market that really congrats the Players for adventuring in zones without any form of visual indicators.
But what I really like about FromSoft games, are the Ghost Marks, Bloodstain and Messages from other players.
I remember seeing a ghost mark of another player jumping out of a cliff from what seemed to be an impossible jump. I check under that cliff, analyzed it and saw a very small platform where I could land.
And the cryptic messages that players can give to other players make the World seem alive and organic. Like if you are in a Dungeon and Dragon pen and paper experience where you work alone but with some help here and there from a Game Master.
Thank god that some studios like that exist and don't follow the boring Open World formulas of Ubisoft games.
I always liked that feature in souls games. You are alone in the middle of hell, then see encouraging messages or a ghost resting in a bonfire with you. Feels epic.

LOL they literally copied this level design style from Castlevania and Metroid, From is nothing special and they only shine these days cuz gaming in general has gone to shit in terms of quality, attention to details and not holding the player's hand.
And speaking of Ubisoft, why is ok for From to recycle their decade old formula non-stop, but Ubisoft gets flamed for doing the same? Also, sweet mother of recycled enemies lol the "secret" boss in this area can be found in at least FOUR other places..
I feel like everyone found this.
So here's how I found out about this place. Some NPC kicked me off some ledge and I fell from god knows how long. Iwas surely dead. I was falling for more than 5 seconds I think, and the odds were so high that I fell right on top of the big-head thing and died, essentially making it all the way down to the depths of Stormveil Castle. When I saw that thing after a fall that felt like ages I was flabergasted. I went "what the fuck? Where did Ifall? What is this place? What?" and then I went down there. It was really strange falling down for some time only to end up in this place, such a sudden change.
Did this npc's name happen to be any form of the word "Patch"?

wow just beat the game, well over 100 hours in and super high level, had no idea about this, still so many hidden secrets in old areas to go back to, great find!!
There are two other locations of these. They are tree spirits. One is guarding the burned Tree under Volcano Manor and the other one I found is in the Golden City. Sadly these aren’t aliens
so four one is the hidden boss of the starting area behin the fog door.
The alien he mentioned is that giant head he steps on the end of the video.
There’s also one in the radahn catacombs and one in the depths of the rot lake

Ya, several more of them, I'll avoid spoiling it though since some of them come out as a bit of a surpise in areas, but suffice it to say there's a lot of places to explore and end up fighting the same enemies.
The first time I came across this place was when I entered the area where mostly all the exiles are sleeping and one of those horn exile's on a stage to the left of me. I then saw a bunch of bags stacked on top of each other in front of me so I decided to climb them and do some random parkour, I managed to miscalculate the jump fell all the why down this giant hole and died where that Lovecraftian looking creature is, I then pan the camera left to see what's making the ground shake and saw that thing popped out of the ground and said I "well, now I know where I'm not going"
You know its been a long time where a game on launch lived up to the hype and is ACTUALLY finished and not adding basic game content later on

You can get to the same location from the liftside chamber site of grace, go out the room, turn right and fall down, you will survive the fall.

Fun fact: it's heavily implied that this is what's left of Godwyn
It's not his real body though, just a manifestation. There's over a dozen other locations where you can find a face like that in-game.
I actually fell in a hole and died by fall damage and i just saw the octopus and soldiers and told myself: yep, exploration!
If you follow Fia's questline you will found her beside a giant mermaid(?) with a similar head to this one.
There is definitely more of these. I missed a jump around a cliff and plummeted to my death. Landed right in front of it.
It is the same exact spot, happened to me as well.
To those who went down there on accident and want to keep your runes (like me) just jump your way on top of the giant face. Wormy will get bored and go to the other side of the area. Once he is about to hit the wall and turn back run for the ladder and climb like hell
I would've never known about this area if it wasn't for the community. Fromsoft games and their communities are some of the best.

The “alien” is the remains of Godwyn, basically the first demigod killed, there is 1 under stormveil and in the subterranian shunning grounds. Godwyn was killed by the black knife assassins

**SIDE QUEST SPOILER** I believe it’s a god of nightmares, there’s another one near a boss fought inside of Fia’s nightmare and that weird droopy face is in the area but when you fight the boss it’s not, but it’s not the boss.
The blood stain on the floor is of the sorcerrer you see in the castle at the after Rampart Tower checkpoint. There is some deep dark secret behind it
The bloodstain animation of Rogier looks like the animation for when you die of death-blight (or whatever this games version of curse/petrification is) so I think its implied Rogier got death-blighted and lost use of his legs

It couldnt have been the Tree Spirit monster thing, maybe I saw it wrong because I sprinted away as it happened scared that the face was gonna be a hidden boss or something, but it looked like he got lifted in the air as he died. I mean, if it was as the comment below you and I saw the animation wrong, it still doesnt explain what killed him since the spirit doesnt have an attack like that.

There is another secret boss if you climb out the the west side and drop down you'll break a ledge and fall down too a knight with red armour who can fly and use fire like a pheonix, will be going back to try kill him here shortly.

Go past him, there is an elevator that leads to a previous site of grace. Step on it but don't ride in it. Bait the crucible knight in the hole where the elevator was. Easy win.
@@Kuonluw I just stabbed him in the back once he was staring at the wall in the crevasse to the left of where you approached him, lost his agro by running back to where you land in the bushes and waited for him to keep staring at the wall, rinsed and repeated few times till he was done. Easy as cheese lol

So i see people in the comments saying this is Godwyn, its not Godwyn, you meet him in an NPC's questline under the tree, the entire quest of the NPC revolves around him and his existence under the tree. This head isn't Godwyn, its someone else, and more then likely involved with the stories constant cycle of life, death, and sacrifice to sustain the tree. Meaning its like a child of Godwyn's which is known as the Golden Pantheon based on the location of this head. More can be found throughout the world.
Each of the Demigods had children, and you determine their lineage based on their Great Rune's picture, the Golden Pantheon being 3 rings, Radahns father who I think is called Radagon, and etc. You can learn this by reading the Greater Runes after you recover their power.
Rogier directly tells you it's Godwyn. Whether or not its true is unverified, but as it stands, it's quite literally the only definitive proof of anything stating what it is. So.

Liftside Bonfire, Take the doorway to the right that takes you outside when you spawn in, Take a right when you get outside there should be a body sitting that may have had an item you picked up, Jump down to the ledge below, jump to walkway, jump on wood platforms until you hit bottom and you're there in the same area. Sorry OP, you took the long way.

And when you go that place there’s actually a bloodstain on the right and it’s not just some player it was actually rogier dying because he got death blighted by something and we don’t know
This area is part of the Sorcerer Rogier quest line, just in front of the skull a little to the right you will see a blood stain that will show him being lifted up into the air.
Even if you're playing blind, I'd always recommend looking at the NPC questlines as they are almost always vague as hell and most people would never figure them out on their own.
That was an insanely long path to get there. There is a ledge between a site of grace and that statue that has to be broken by a giant you can just drop straight down with some cotton... I accidentally ended up there in my first exploration of the castle. I immediately ran and came back like 15 levels later lol.
i forgot which grace but it overlooks the courtyard coming from the main gate, get out of that grace and go right and jump down the wooden beams and that’s it
I like how in some places you can bypass what are essentially locks. I got to this same boss, but with out all the parkouring around, though I did have to use a stonesword key.
I literally just found this thing by accident exploring the castle again, and I am so glad that I came back late in my playthrough

Finally someone posted about this, I found it day 1 but I don’t stream and I couldn’t find anyone else that had found it. That thing kicked my butt so I was hoping to see someone else kill it.
It's interesting to note that
It wasn't Godwyn's body that died but his soul, that's what you learn from a quest. So, seeing him in two places may have something to do about it (his "resting place" is part of a different quest. Idk, I'm not Vaati.
At first, I thought this was the main boss to get the great rune everyone's talking about. Killed it, then thought, 'Oh, the boss was optional. lol' Then went back up and killed the actual boss of the castle.

i didnt find this entire secret area until like 15 hours in after I back tracked to the castle so I could put my coop sign for the boss fights. Insane how much in hidden away in this game

For anyone wondering how to cheese the boss, you'll need a buddy, summon him there have him jump the ruins in the middle (you'll see a crease you can jump up on, then you can have him jump to this empty cubby to the left that has a whole view of the arena, you jump down and he can bombard him with spells and arrows with reletive ease with being hit by any attacks except the aoe explosion he uses at half health (your buddy can just roll backwards to the back of the cubby to avoid it)

I'm playing blind, but couldn't resist a video that had 'alien' in the title. But I agree with everyone else in the comments.
The secrets and exploration are insane. I went in to a Catacomb, thinking there would be the standard one boss after you open the door...
But I hit a wall and it disappeared to reveal a 2nd boss, an assassin that I luckily beat first time.
When I realised some walls can disappeared, I thought to myself that I've probably missed even more secrets (this is my first souls game).
The Black Knife Assassin that drops the FP talisman, right? I've been hitting pretty much every fucking wall I see after that. Most are, obviously, duds, but I found a few invisible walls inside Caria Manor.
There is also invisible floors!
More importantly, is there a way to get that armor without killing Patches?

I actually "found" this boss. I fell of and landed in the hole dying, but while I died the boss got out of the ground and I could see him for a brief moment. But I thought it would be a normal boss to be fair
Thats the Long way, the shorter way is right by the fire resting place and just jump down.
There is also a trick to easily beat that monstrosity. Hide behind the alien face by the left side. You can still get hit but rarely due to the arching terrain the enemy ends up throwing his hits upward and missing you.
Will never forget seeing a message next to the left eyehole that said "offer seed, then instant regret"
Oh man, I looked at that ledge at 0:18 last night as I played through the castle and turned back then forgot about it until seeing this. Never expected so much of the area I missed because of that, although that tree spirit thing may have curb stomped me so not all bad I guess 😅

If you go for the ladder and do the full circle around the area, you can come back at the top of the area, and "easily" snipe the boss :)

The blood splatter on the very right at 1:57 is actually of an NPC (Rogier). When you view it, go talk to him for additional dialogue. The woman who gives you the consumable buff in roundhold table also has additional dialogue too.
