what an amazing run! it seems like spike just can't help but ham it up for the crowd lmao, but he still kept the focus on usedpizza and was curious about the game, and usedpizza kept the energy and commentary on the run going and rolled with his mistakes and gave the banter back to spike as good as he could take it! a ton of fun to watch
Oh wow I just realized how amazing that cameo of Mario and Luigi at the end really is. If you pause you'll see it's actually the whole gang from Mario 2 which is super smart because that's the one where Mario is dreaming, which makes a fun sort of sense because Kirby is in Dreamland so he's also dreaming.
Almost? I was downright upset. And I actually never got to play the original game, I saw it once at a flea market, I wanted to get it but was told no, and never saw it again until years later - overpriced. Then I just got the DS remake.
SpikeVegeta is a blessing upon this earth. The man is so entertaining and charismatic, and is so good at using his talent in such a way to support a runner from the couch rather than overpower their run. Absolutely 100% an amazing person.
I happened to watch this run back to back with the Star Wars NES run, and I understand that both have their appeal, but I prefer this commentary greatly. There's plenty of shade being thrown around, and Spike has no loving clue what he's talking about, but they stay focused on the game and a lot of the digression feels less canned. The chemistry between the couch and runner is better. The SW NES run felt like a massive in-joke I wasn't a part of, I guess, or like the couch and runner were acting out characters instead of this run, where usedpizza's doing the run and Spike's just having an actual blast watching the game.
i knew from Robobobot planet run few GDQs ago that that donation reader was a huge kirby fan, but wow, she knew every damn treasure and not only because of the image tho, i tip my hat (if i had one) to her
Excellent run. Huge kirbys fun pak/super star fan 🌟 huge childhood nostalgia. Amazed to see so much Jet and speed and wooowwww. Is there a discord community for kirby speed runners?
Very fast run. This was one of my favorite childhood games that I would play with my brother. Almost too bad to not to get to see all the cool powerups.
Love seeing Spike on a couch during game runs, plus this game was part of my childhood so watching it destroyed definitely tingled my nostalgia... bone... So to speak. Well done everyone and thanks for everything you do!
@10:20 "if you get really lucky"? idk about the original Super Star, but in Ultra it's all about spacing. You need Kirby to hit Dyna Blade on the way down, _and_ for the star to hit Dyna Blade when he kicks it away. So you need to be closer to Dyna Blade than he was.
I've done a hoverless run of this game. The key is having the Wing ability. That is fluttering, not hovering, so it's allowed. Jet however, is hovering.

I fell in love with the runner the moment he said “please clap I need my ego back :(“
was hilarious
"The guy's dead body almost cost me everything" @16:25 is literally the plot to Metal Gear Solid.
We need more commentators that have no idea what's going on, that was great

Dreamland is just the name of where Kirby lives. Pop Star is the planet.
Edobean with the item callouts was a fantastic counter-commentary to Spike's guessing at what the Great Cave items were lol
"That's a human head!"
"That's a raccoon doll."
My favorite.
No one in the audience or couch has played and this was my most played SNES game growing up. That almost makes me sad.
Almost? I was downright upset. And I actually never got to play the original game, I saw it once at a flea market, I wanted to get it but was told no, and never saw it again until years later - overpriced. Then I just got the DS remake.

I didn't know this was a co-op speedrun.
Also this might be my favorite run I've ever watched. Runner and commentators were perfect together.
Great run! Spectacular commentary, overral one of the best I've ever seen in AGDQ. Keep up the good work guys!

Runner introduction starts at 2:00.
Run starts at 2:35.
Thank you gdq

Her chiming in to "help" Spike Vegeta along with what the items actually were was one of my favorite parts. Cute!
Excellent run. Huge kirbys fun pak/super star fan 🌟 huge childhood nostalgia.

This is one of my FAVORITE games on the SNES and is still one of my favorite 2-player games. THIS is impressive!
Very fast run. This was one of my favorite childhood games that I would play with my brother. Almost too bad to not to get to see all the cool powerups.
@ 52:08 there's a secret room if you float allllll the way up to the top of the screen and enter through the star in the moon crescent door.
UsedPizza tried Kirby!
GDQx took 117 minutes
UsedPizza wins!
You got 3 happy smile points.
They should do donations for what power to do the arena with, that would be cool imo.
That would be awesome but the time for the powers vary dramatically.

"so it was a SKiP?"
Eric Winter “but it wasn’t really”
"Thanks :)"
*one second later*
"...I fell."
And here I thought I was the only one who defaults to using the second slot for save games. Thanks usedpizza, I feel less alone now. Lol
Disappointed that no one sang 1, 2 Oatmeal during Gourmet Race
This is easily the best kirby game ever. I love how you could manipulate what your partner does.
What happened to the red dragon in computer virus boss?
"Is there health up here?" XD
The commentary is great. Comedy gold. "True 100%, expect for that thing, and the other thing"
When your kirby super star speedrun turns into a oracle of seasons speedrun for a bit.
Cows everywhere
Great run, the commentary was definitely the highlight
This is one of my personal favorite runs now.
This probably took me multiple weeks to beat as a kid.
I've only known the ultra version of this game.
Love this run!
fun run to watch und nice ending
26:23 "It was completely my fault, I didn't guard in that Gordo room for some reason, I dunno, I can blame Spike though"
"Yah, I probly did it"
😂
Five. Thousand. Dollars.
To go to outer space.
Also I just realized, Super Metroid Ascent is somewhat based off of The Great Cave Offensive.
this what happen you got the sleep copy and go to the nova two times and the game get crash
This dude getting sniped by rocks
Love the game used to play this as a kid and I still play it to this date.... And LOVED the commentary just gold
5 seconds into the run and we get Japanese symbol for Beginner. Skeppy would be so proud!
I have played this game a LOT, and yes, I am impressed. Also, amazing Spike commentary.
Kirby had some really great and challenging games. Never played this one though... I should fix this. Great run!
@12:10
thank u
Wait, Kirby IS playing Sonic! Spike was right! XD
This girl that talks during the Great Cave Offensive knows her shit.
I've logged so many hours into this game as a kid... this is beautiful

And what about the Duels against meta knight, dedede, etc?
It saves no time, but it is faster
Spiiiiiiiiike
13:06 "what happened?" HE GOT HIGH lmao
I HAVE PLAYED THIS GAME SINCE RELEASE AND DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE ROULETTE WTF
i think he forgot the beam statue in milky way

100% means beating all the mini-bosses not skipping over him because you can
no because by that logic he'd have to kill every enemy too.
100% refers to the save file, which he got
