Thanks again for a new video! :-) The setting "cut with voids when loaded" solved my problem i mentioned in another one of your videos where i tried to insert steel beams into a ceiling. :-)
thank you for the video... but I still when I try to use void sweep on floor it says at the end that this family is empty and will be deleted. Any ideas? I'm on the right plane and I see it cutting but at the end nothing.
I have had issues with voids where they do not continue through the face of a floor or element and end exactly on the face. You might continue the sweep beyond the end of the floor and see if that works. Hopefully, I am understanding you correctly.
@@ArchitectureVanguard ty for respond... I figured it eventualy out... I was trying to do the sweep with generic model within the project but then I saw somewhere that you need to make a family... so at the end it works... now I would love for that to work only on floors but :D
Hi Sir Vanguard..Thanks for your helpful videos..Please can you make a video on Topography. Like how to make accurate roads, Side walks...etc and how to make families like parametric channels, water tower and steep slopes..thank you
Unfortunately you cannot add a material and because you cannot add a material to a void then there is no way to transfer a material to the result of a void cut without painting that specific cut face. I believe having a material applied to the cut object would still populate over the cut area but if you want a separate material over the cut portion, that would have to be painted. I hope that addresses your question.
Depends on if you want to cut the family or if you want the family to cut model elements outside the family. Leaving it uncut in the family will allow you to cut elements in your model with the cut tool. Or you can use the cut tool in the family.
I create a generic model family, and create a simple extrusion in it then I loaded this family in another family (make nested family) now I am in the second family and close the first family I want to make a void in the model while being in the second family not in the first family but Revit does not execute the void still yellow-colored what is the solution?
It could be that the void is not cutting anything. You might try cutting the void and pasting in the same place to reset it. Or also look to cut it with the cut tool.
awesome , it shows "Some Void Forms of this family do not cut anything and will be deleted. To make a Void Form cut something else use the Cut Geometry tool how to fix plzz help
If you are making a family, do the cut in the family. And if you have a piece of a voiding a family that is not cutting anything, it will be deleted when you load the family.
I was playing around with a family I’m editing for an hour until I found this video. Solved my problem!!

Happy to hear this solved your problem!
you know when you made the solid revolve, you can go to the properties and change that to a void without having to start over.
can we do void extrusion in other axis to the object not the horizontal axis only ??
HI can you select which element to be void?

great, thanks
You are welcome!
That was a wild one... good stuff though. Thanks
Voids are quite wild!!! And I love them!
Hi sir. For creating complicated void form I need to cutting cutting one void from other but revit not allow!! How solve this problem?
You unfortunately cannot cut a void with another void. You might also try nesting in your family into another to cut the void.

Boris, this is a great idea and I will definitely look to doing that. I can imagine that would be helpful!
Thanku ..
You are welcome!
How do you add the different material only in the cut part..if you don't want to use the paint tool

Hi bro..I want to make a wooden shelf and when I want to load in wall its automatically cut wall how this can be done??
You will have to include a void in the family where you want the shelf to cut the wall so that when you load the shelf in, it will then cut.

@@ArchitectureVanguard thank u for the response,I'm using void in generic model ,if I apply on that model it's shows that error sir!!

I didn't see any voids created in-place. All the voids utilized were via a loaded void family.
Ahh, well you can make one and save that and load that void into any other family and use it in ways covered in the video.
Music
I have addressed the music in future videos, thank you.
dont name your vid "how to use voids" if your not gonna show HOW TO USE VOIDS.
Not sure why you would say that. How did the video not cover how to use voids?
