And my high school literature teacher said that R. E. Howard's works are primitive scriblings of untalented blabbering ignorant. Even at that time, I took that very offensively (hate to use that term due to the way it is used nowadays, but I can't come up with anything better) towards Howard whom I looked up to at that time, and do so still to this day. You showing us lore secrets that were still hidden to me prooves that it was our teacher, who was ignorant, and not the Howard. Thank you.
Howard's writings are far from primitive scribblings. Maybe not to everyone's tastes, just as Lovecraft can be a bit wordy for some, but his work holds some serious merit. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Sounds like a prototypical "scholar" to me lol. Too many of them running the world these days... I think my creative writing teacher explained quality literature well with one line, "show, don't tell." And indeed Howard does so.

I can relate. had some lit teachers that were hit or miss. one in particular was firm in her belief that anyone using profanity in their writings lacked intelligence. I earned myself 2 weeks of out of school suspension after i raised my hand and said "lady, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about."
I fucking loved this lore so much. I've been portraying a long distance ancestor remnant of the Acheronian race on a roleplay server and was infatuated with the Ancient Obolus since hearing about it and your questioning on stream. I summarize the character as basically the "president of the acheronian fan club" so having these coins in the game with the new update is going to be a lot of fun. Thank you for the video and the work you put into uncovering this lore!
just pointing out that old Stygia, Acheron's own neighbour, was considerably more powerful at the time. "Stygia has forgotten more sorceries than old Acheron ever knew."

Glad you enjoyed! I was gonna do a lore video on the story of the Age of Sorcery so far, but decided to hold off until Chapter 3 so I can put all of the information together in one video instead of either relying on people watching other videos, or going over information people may know
I’d say the Khitan have some connection to acheron and maybe the elder empire that’s why they have the coins, the people of the east are meant to have a high affinity for magics and are meant to have some of the most powerful sorcerers and magicians in the Conan universe and the beast and daemon races are meant to have fled east after the destruction of their empire mainly the spider demons if I’m not mistaken and the spider gods are revered in the east as main deity’s
Conan Exiles gets bashed alot, but stuff like this shows a part of what I love about the game and how dedicated devs were and are. They know their hyborian age well. Just recently went through the art book of age of conan and realised again how much work especially back then went into bringing it alive. A great foundation they build upon these days in exiles. And exiles turned out to be a great game over the last years imo. Hope it stays that Way. But sad that the exiles art book wasn't as much in depth as the age of conan one
