It's the same level of quality as the lore of Middle Earth, but with a grimmer, grimier and bloodier feel. Lord of the Rings and the Hyborian Age are almost the pinnacle of their respective fantasy genres and indeed of all of fantasy, IMO.

Marvel Conan has 'real' gods - Crom is real in Marvel Conan. I see no sign of that in REH's stories, which seem more of an HPL style modernist-nihilistic universe. The first Savage Sword of Conan story I ever read was #181 "The Face of God", where Conan fights Shan a Zamoran demigod (& his lookalike) powered by the belief of the Zamoran people. When defeated Shan returns to Heaven to the other real Zamoran gods. I can't see REH writing that. I don't think REH's universe has a mystical Heaven or Hell as an afterlife or underworld, though it certainly has alien and hostile dimensions with their own inhabitants, and human ghosts/spirits can survive beyond death.

Curious that the Great Old Ones are intermediaries (Perhaps like the Titans and other abstract archetypal entities?), but above all the demonic hierarchy and other mestizo, evolutionary additions and howard associating demonology more like a kind of pandemic or massive cataclysm !! I love it!! High excitement for the Serpent Men update and the episode about the dreamlands!! Personally the best classification of demons I've heard in my life! Many Thanks!
Well... I must say I did struggle to create a adequate demon Race/lore for my homebrew RPG based off bloodborne/the witcher. Seems I might have just found the perfect channel to work out the finer details of my game! Excellent work dude, keep It awesome! (Sorry for the potentially bad english, I'm from Brazil)
Great video, I really love how Howard's world is mysterious and leaves a lot to interpretations, speculations and fan-theories. Such world is (at least for me) much more interesting and appealing than world where everything is completely known and described, where there is no mystery to be found or no room for interpretations. If a Herald (naturally born as a half demon or otherwise) decided to take a perhaps darker path and was willing to give up the human half of their soul and delve into the path of a Dark Templar, what would that look like? Is it even possible? Or would the two just cancel each other out as the void and nothingness of the Dark Templar and the foul demonic energies of being a Herald try to destroy each other?
