Buddy, that was a great video, thanks for sharing. Make a jig with wood and headless nails to bend the wire. You can even drill indents in the template to hold the bearings when you glue - just coat the jig with release agent to prevent the bearings from sticking to it. Great work, thanks again.
I'm happy that you liked it 🙂 I'm familiar with the wire bending jig, however I very rarely make the same type of lure (even if I already have a mould for it) I prefer to experiment with new things 😉

Both videos of making this minnow lure are excellent. You did a GREAT job of duplicating the baitfish in the photo on your phone. I only wish that we could have seen the action of this lure in the water. As other UA-cam lure-makers have demonstrated, even towing a bait around in the bathtub is better than nothing!

Да, это была бы хорошая идея 👍 недавно сделала утяжелитель с крупным глиттером, получилось очень красиво. Фольгу для горячего тиснения заказал, планирую залить светодиод прямо на провод и приклеить сверху голографическую фольгу, перед заливкой эпоксидки 😉 всего доброго 👋🎣

Very impressive indeed. Apparently according to lots of Amazon reviews they've changed the formula on the KBS, air bubbles and cloudy, plus problem with lids not opening ( I know a metal roofing screw with a rubber washer is best to do anyway as you've shown ) Probably better to stick with Hartz Lack as you're using here 👍
Using Hartz Lack very rarely now, when fast results needed I go for UV when toughness I go for long cure epoxy 👌

Hi my Friend 👋 it does have basically exactly the same bouyancy as water, so if you ad the wire and the hooks it's already slowly sinking, important think to remember is, since it doesn't float on it's own, you have to put the weight as low in the body as possible to have stable swimming action 😉

You should make a template with nails on a piece of would to bend the wire easily and standardized. ;-)
I know that technique, but I rarely made more than one lure at the time, so I don't bother
Awesome lure. Could you please help me out with choosing clear coat? Which one of the Hartz Lack are you using? I tried a few 2 parts epoxy but its never propperly hard. So thats why I want to try something else. Thanx in advance.
Cześć, używałem w tym wypadku "Hartzlak super strong - połysk". Na temat Hartzlaka poczytaj sobie najlepiej na jakimś forum jak chronić przed zastygnieciem reszty lakieru w puszce. Za długi proces by tutaj opisać. Na epoxy nie narzekam 😉

Hey, great video. What kind of epoxy did you use? Isn't it to heavy regarding swim behavior? Or did you use some ultra light stuff?
The epoxy I'm using is discontinued, I bought mine 6years ago 😶 I don't believe there is much of a difference in the density between different epoxies, obviously it doesn't have buoyancy therefore is import to place the weight as low in the body as possible, now I don't play with fixing on the wire, just dropping them on the bottom of the form. For a sinking stickbait the action is standard side to side tail movement and little side flashing, on the fall it flutters like a jig 😉

How do you calculate how much weight do you need to add on each lure according the size of it and the material is made of?
In here whatever you add it will sink, so it's more like what part of the lure and the shape of the total balast, that will determine the swimming action. When it comes to wooden lures I generally have rough idea based on experience and then I place the weight, with the glue onto the sealed lure blank, attach the hooks and try in the water what it does. After is just a matter of adding, or deducting the weight to get correct sinking ratio, or position in which the lure floats in the water 😉 you probably can find that practice in some of my other videos (look up playlist "wooden lures") 👌 ai hope that explains it
@@SuchaJerkCustomLures yeah it makes sense. Is more heavy the epoxy that the wood. So all lures made from epoxy will be sinking lures. Do you think you can still make it swim without any weight or the minimum possible so you can make it slow sinking ?
And a last question which is important for me. Can we do same process with silicone mold but lure with lip?
@@gregory1986ful you could install inside some balast made of balsa for example - you could end up with very slow sinking lure. Epoxy lure without any weight would be super slow sink, but absolutely unstable in the water, cause either you have bouyancy pulling lure up and small weight in the belly stabilizing it, or you don't have bouyancy and then you need something like tungsten very low in the body to make it swim upright. As for the mould make with lip, sure if you planing to always do same lure with same lip it works great, just you need to be sure that is inserted in the master dead center, otherwise each lure out of the mould will have crooked bib 😜 (that's how I did it, just don't tell no one 🤫😅)

I was thinking the you might leave the gap for the lip while you creating the mold and then after you done it you can glue it separately so it is always center, plus you can use smaller or bigger lips. Do you think that will work ?

This is two part Epoxy resin, depends on the formula and producer they might have a different ratio,.mine one is 2 part of epoxy for 1 part of hardened (I just call them part A and B) 😉

I was waiting till the end to see if you would ruin the lure by putting trebble hooks on it , I personally hate trebble hooks and will not use them , I replace all trebble hooks with a Siwash or Octopus hook , also the lure really doesn't need the forward hook , think about every river spoon you ever cast , how many hooks , Just one at the tail , that's all you need , the Lure you made is actually a work of art I might never cast such a piece, it reminds me of Hyper realistic Fly tying where the imitation is so good you would never use it , I think you are a great craftsman and Artist .
Thank you Jason 😊 when I finished it, everything was still frozen around, so I didn't go fishing, after a week the video goes viral, first 10k, after 100k by that point I decided, that no way I'm risking throwing that lure and snagging it 😜 It has now a special place on the wall of fame, with screen shot of 2M views 🥰 together with my first lure ever and the lure I caught the unofficial world record Trevally on 😊 I made few copies of it to fish with, it's good for Asp and perch in the fresh water, I also caught blue fin trevally and a cuttle fish (that proves the realism is good) on it in Seychelles 🙂 latest two models I made have only back, single hook 😉
@@SuchaJerkCustomLures isn't it funny sometimes doing something artistic it's like it came from outside of you. I've done some wood carving and years later looked at pieces I was proud of and I know I could never duplicate it , Save that lure it's like a gift bestowed on you even though you created it .
I've carved a few lures from Basswood and they worked but nothing like what you created mine were very worthy of tossing in the water . Thanks for your reply also 👍

Поэтому я использую обычный силикон, он не подходит для светодиода или олова. Но если вы покупаете термостойкий силикон, все равно можно сделать форму для эпоксидной приманки 😉 Для этого подойдет любая двухкомпонентная эпоксидная смола с длинным загибом 👌 вы можете поискать немного прозрачной эпоксидной смолы на основе смолы 😉

I make decent streamers for Big Mouth Bass...Yours should be behind glass, mine belong in a lake. Fish don't care if the bug has 7 legs or ten. Just so long as it moves realistic.

What are the specs of this minow bait? The weight and length and does it float sink or suspend?
@@monoracer_ 5cm 4.75g sinking 👍 so far is slaying perch, but originally was intended for mac tuna fishing, sadly I wasn't able to travel nowhere due to C-19 😞

For seabass i would love this lure as a surface/sub surface lure @ around 10cm length and a weight around 15-25 gram would be nice to be able to cast it far enough.
I wish i knew how to make lures like yours myself with epoxy, i have somewhat an idea though, but i will have to look this up in depth and also i would need a decent airbrush and a small compressor

What kind of liquid you used on A & B ?
It has been poured out of two part long cure epoxy resin, so Part A being the resin and part B the resin hardener 🙂

It is UV light - the resin I used for the line is UV cure resin it hardens under UV light 😉

It's call Hartz Lack is German made, so should be available in most EU countries I imagine. It's polyurethane clear coat, if you're USA based use KBS 😉
