- In this lure making tutorial I'm building balsa minnow in 3 hours and 17min 😉 all the steps are the same as normal the only way you can do it in Les than half a day is to use UV resin as a clear coat 👌 check out the video and what I manage to catch with this lure 🎣

My grandfather used to make lures as a hobby. I never met him but this video reminded me of him. I think he would have love seeing this.
Hmm, I also never met any of my grandfather's... But it's a nice hobby, very pueceful, but also very rewarding, as you can catch fish with your own creation 🙂
Fishing isn't my thing, but it fascinates me. The minnow's motion is unbelievable! You did such an amazing work in no time!

I have made a 10cm lure 22g also from balsa but bigger than your smaller version following exactly your instructions. Its movement in the bathtube is perfect like yours. MANY THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEO ! The next thing I have to learn is airbrushing .......

What I am making next is take the balsa-lure as a master for making a silicone-mold. Then I make a few copies (private use only !) using polyurethane, I have worked with these materials sometimes in the past with quite good results. Weighing the PU-Lures with lead possibly may become a little challenge as my balsa has a specific weight = 0,3g/cm³ and my PU=0,5g/cm³. But I am confident that it will work. Then testing the PU-Lures at pike-fishing as I am afraid to loose the balsa-lure, which is my very first balsa lure and I am very proud about it. By the way: I will use single hooks= Decoy 3/0@@SuchaJerkCustomLures
Good plan, just add mikrobaloon to the poliurethane resin, up to 10% of total weight combined (A+B), after that there might be issue with incomplete pour. Tide lines when pike fishin 🎣👋
The shape of this lure is very similar to an airfoil profile "Clark Y 20" which was one of the first profiles in aircraft construction. In the past I built some rc-airplane models with this profile, works really good. @@SuchaJerkCustomLures
The action on that was top-notch! I make topwater baits to catch bass, and what's crazy is the ugly ones do the best. What's worse is they work so well I end up losing them to fish that are too big or smart!
This one I still have, I wasn't 100% happy with the looks, but the action is spectacular, caught countless big Chub on it and also some Zander and perch 😊 I very rarely loose the lure to the fish, more often when casting on the three like an idiot 😅
@@SuchaJerkCustomLures Haha, I have a Zara Spook knock-off that's in a bush across a way that matched up with the shape and color of the leaves, but I'll get it back! Day prior I caught a 3# bass with it.
When you tested the lure in the tub I thought you had let a live minnow in there for comparison, I am stunned

Haha yeah he was very interested 😌 Pixel likes to play with my lures, even have few of them (obviously hookless), unfortunately mostly somewhere under furniture 😅
Used to make lures from literally anything I could find, including car parts and bottle caps etc.
As long as there is enough fish in the water you can catch on many things resembling the lure... it gets tricky when there is not enough fish, or you trying to target the big ones 😉
Hands down I prefer making my own lures. Obviously it’s quicker to buy ready made set ups but over time you learn what the fish in your area do and don’t like… either way it’s all good fun.x
I totaly agree, that is the bigest advantage, I have certain lure that have been made specificaly just for one spot of my river and one species of fish 😉 plus when they actually work, the satisfaction is that much greater 😃

Most of the items I use I'm buying locally in Poland, so it's not so easy as American lure makers putting the links to Amazon (surely would be nice) . Yes I did the rotisserie myself, you can just find it in my videos 😉 Thanks for watching 🙏👋

With fishing being a huge hobby of mine...I need to make my own raps. They are getting crazy spendy at the tackle shops.
It's more the satisfaction of catching on your own lures, than the money saving factor - as there isn't any 😅 obviously cost of making one lure is around 1.5-2$, but the investment in better tools, paints and lots of other sh*t never ends 😜

Have you ever tried filling your weight holes with baking soda and superglue? It'll dry extremely fast, and then you can just sand it down like wood.
It's also really hard, so it won't wear easily.
It doesn't work well with balsa lures, as you probably know SG + BK is extremely hard so during the sanding the soft balsa gets removed at the faster rate causing uneven surface. For the hardwood lures is fine 😉

I only have the end of the fight 😃 I caught one yellow fin tuna of 11kg 🎣💪 the big fish obviously got away, but that's why is called fishing not catching 😅 the footage is at the end of my last vide, maybe you didn't get notification about it, lots of people complain lately about that 🤔

Neden balsa ağacı kullanıp ıçıne çelik veya kurşun bilya koydunuz? Daha ucuz bir ağaç ile yapsanız balığın sırt kısmına hava boşluğu yapıp dengede tutabilirsiniz. Dengeyi veya ağırlığı sağlamak için daha küçük. Bilyeler de kullanabilirsiniz. Biz balsa ağacını uçak maketleri yapmak için bile bulamıyoruz.balsa pahallı bir ağaç.
Balsa, küçük yalpalayıcılar yapmak için en iyi ağaçtır 😉 bazı balast odalarıyla uğraşmak çok zaman alır. Polonya'da da balsa yoktu, ABD'li bir aboneden hediye olarak almıştım ☺️ Dünyada balsanın bulunmaması, fiyatları, ormanların yasa dışı kesilmesi rüzgar türbini üreticilerinin suçu 😡
