This is one of my favorite GOTD yet. God, that's a beautiful Les Paul Custom! And it sounds killer. Good job, Michael! Hi, Norm! I hope you're feeling much, much better. (As if he's actually going to read this). Well, it's the thought that counts, and I've been thinking about Norm quite a bit since I found out about his condition.

I just bought a 1987 Les Paul Custom in ebony off a guy from Burbank who brought it to y'all for an estimate of its value. It comes in the mail tomorrow and I am PUMPED, especially after watching this.

My main guitar is a white 87 custom. Love it!
The Edge from U2 also plays 2 Gibson Les Paul Customs in Alpine White. In fact, I’d say the majority of U2’s songs have been played on them. Both have “Tarbacks” pickups, but one has the pickups covered and the other has them uncovered. I don’t know if I can tell the difference between the two, but The Edge says he does. One of my favorite guitars!
Oooohh! That just may be my new fave Les Paul color. And, your playing wasn’t too shabby either, Lemmo. We’ll all be happy when Norm’s back. But, I hope he doesn’t overdo it and return too early.

M& J I know that G.O.T.D is super busy with everything that it gives to the masses. Yet, I didn't recognize the second example when yo had both pickups applied. Maybe you could add a in-the-form-of
(artist) mention in the description. Cause yo two are the Wonder Twins deluxe. In all the years I've been tuning in to yo daily feature, I can usually tell when M plays original stylings because it's on another level with the alternate picking and the ghost notes and the
such. Am I wrong? Just have to what it was?
J, not trying increase yo workload. The videos are amazing. The sound is amazing. The guitars are amazing. The future is amazing!

I bought one of these new in April of 1987 and still have it.. mine came with the black control knobs and the case is molded plastic.. otherwise just like this one. Cheers

Whoever buys that is getting a cracking Guitar, need to get mine out of its case today. Mick Ronson also played a Gibson Les Paul in White.
No he played a black one that he sanded the top coat off.

Nice job man. I love how you went with anarchy for the driven tone. I was afraid you were going to go randy with it. And i love randy! Don’t get me wrong here, randy is my guitar hero. Well there’s randy on one end of the spectrum and stevie ray vaughn on the other end and believe it or not Lemmo is right there in the mid range of my guitar heros. But it was so cool to hear anarchy when i expected randy. That’s such a good song and I’ve dug the pistols since back in the late 70’s early 80’s. Steve was really a great guitarist. Kind of underrated because he was a punk guitarist but there’s actual composition in those songs. If you isolate his tracks there’s some interesting stuff there. Nice job lemmo

This model always reminds me of the Sex Pistols, and the unique way the pickups cut through is very associated with that period although an earlier model in the late 70s. Many got modded and painted with tribal colours at the time - it was A les paul Custom...1980s guitars are becoming the new vintage. The great circle of popularity has come round and people are getting interested in the vintage sounds of the 1970s and 1980s. What I love about my 1973 walnut sg special is it has a different feel to the modern guitars I have played. It is a beast from the past and just seems to have that sound frozen in time from back then. I hope norm is doing OK, resting and building up his strength. I think I may have upset Carlos guitarlos with a remark - sincere apologies if that is the case...for me he is one of the coolest on the channel. All the best to Norm and Norms crew. Been.watching since way back then, and norms has given me an education in guitars and helped me and many others through the pandemic. What a legendary place Norms is. Seeing Angela succeed with her crowd funder is like a silver lining to the cloud over norms right now. We have to take a day at a time - we can only do our best in the moment we are in. If you need more help - I am pioneering musical therapy on my channel It has helped me - it may help others. We need to stay strong for each other in life. As Angela would say - 'Take care of each other'. Norm and Norms - you are a beacon of goodwill...just keep doing what you are doing...from the Cat - see channel for both original guitar music and nostalgic dj mixes. Take care one and all.
