  • Just close your eyes and listen to that awesome Rolls Royce RB-211 engine sound! Just incredible right?!? Watch as we roll down runway 25R to the West, climb over the beach and take the Loop 7 departure back toward the East over the Pacific Ocean! Absolutely gorgeous day with brilliant sunshine and crystal blue skies! Out the window you can see an excellent overview of LAX, Santa Monica, Malibu and so much more! Great views of the mountains in the distance are also included! The flight was an absolute pleasure with a breakfast service complete with an egg omelet and a cinnamon roll! Regular beverage and snack services were included throughout the duration of the flight! The flight attendants were excellent! Each seat was fully lie-flat and featured Personal TV's! This was one of the best flights I've ever taken! Filmed from the First Class cabin on board United Airlines! Flight 1674 to Chicago O'hare. 10/2/14.

Can't hate the 757. Big wing, powerful engines, and rather lightweight. 757s are the masters of short-runway takeoffs.

The first Lockheed Tristar with RB 211 engines flew across our factory at Rolls Royce Hillington in Glasgow on a visit to the UK when I was an apprentice there. I saw the engines being manufactured for the first time, so this video is a great credit to the fact the government at that time saved the company from going under due to the cost of creating this historic engine and aircraft combination against very hard competition with the DC10. Unfortunately both designs were not as successful as the manufacturers hoped but the engine went on to greater heights. Thanks for a great video my friend , you are the spirit of aviation.

Beautiful vid.. Nice view of Catalina Island and he coastline toward he end there... My favorite commercial plane to fly on by far.. The familiar noise you hear on these motors has to do with the shape of the fan tips and the shockwaves of them going supersonic.. Shame they saw it as a "flaw" and "fixed" it on subsequent motor designs...

And one last thing? When is your next trip? Are you planning to go to Southeast Asia next? In the next three videos, will there be a landing at Newark Airport?

Not to be a downer, but today was the 38th anniversary of the Tenerife Airport disaster. 583 people lost their lives that day when two fully loaded 747's collided on the runway, in the Spanish island of Tenerife. 61 people escaped death, but were instead left with the awful memory of that disaster. It is considered to be the worst air disaster to date. May all those who died rest in peace, and my condolences to everyone that lost a family member, friend, or co-worker that day.

    • @SpenzOT
