What wonderful memories of my former life, always brings me to tears when I see this beautiful machine fly high above the world and always took me safely home again. That thrust, that noise, that sheer joy of reaching above the clouds is a wonder of human intelligence and knowhow. The skill of the pilots and of the friendly cabin crew, how lucky to be alive and have experienced that.
Nothing ever beat the 747s! The Queen is such one of most remarkable aircraft ever built along with Concorde n Antonov An-225! Too bad it's harder to find any passenger 747s are being retired during pandemic! Glad Lufthansa keeping their Queens of the Skies flying for many years to come! Lovely sounds of RB211 and views of LAX!
Excellent video.....the Rolls Royce engines are epic......love the sound.....The 747 is still the queen of the skies and the best aircraft ever made...
Concorde however is the TRUE Queen of the Skies. Nothing else compares its beauty, power, glamour, speed and technical achievement. The Tu-144 only satisfies 3 of those. A very unique aircraft and it's a damning sign that Aviation took a giant step backwards with her retirement.
The General Electric Cf6 has a great spool sound of the engines however Rolls Royce RB211 is epic and sounds fantastic best jet engines in the world thanks for posting I enjoyed this!
I crossed the Pacific from Sydney to LA as a kid in the 80s so many times. I flew on every 747 from the -100, -200, -300, SP and -400. Fantastic memories. 🇦🇺
Seemed to hesitate on rotation a bit. Few seconds from full rotation to having the lift to start climbing. Heavy, description mentions a full load, and it may have attempted rotation a few seconds early. LAX 25R has 12,000 feet total which is pretty long.
It is because these engines are smaller than the a380 so it has to spin fast to power the plane unlike in a380, trent 900's are bigger than rb211 so it doesn't have to spin fast just to make the a380 fly so it produce less noise even in takeoff. Just think of the ge90, it is very big that the fan section itself is enough to power the 777 so it runs almost silently because it doesn't have to spin fast.
@@blackship2380 The Trent 900 is quieter by the thickness of the A380's fuselage (the same reason why the outer window appears smaller than the inner window)
There was one like this that used to take off out of Phoenix every evening around 5:30 or so....i would take my son to sky harbor and sit near the runway and we would watch it take off and head east....that was a couple years ago; not sure if that flight still exists but it was fun stuff; my son really enjoyed it.
BA 747 still flies out of Phoenix daily, except it lands in the late afternoon around 5-7pm early evening and then turns around back to Heathrow around 8 or 9 pm.
Love the rb211 Buzz my 2nd favorite engine sound behind the tf39 must have been heavy seemed like forever on takeoff likewise seemed like his slats were out for quite a while too
Really enjoyed your video. You know, these things take off all around the world, all day long and have done so for decades now, Most people won't even look if they see one climbing out of a city airport, but I am always fascinated every time I see it. It is just amazing to me.
My favorite airplane of all time this is fucking awesome dude. The noise, the speed and the fact that this 875,000 lb bird gets up and down so gracefully. I've been around 747-400's a lot and it amazes me every single time
The deceptive speed is has going down the runway stills amazes me ever since I was a child. This size of doesn't seem like it moving that fast but it is.
Forget about the Airbus plastic plane! This is the best beautiful plane what is it about 40 years old now and still going strong this is what I want if I'm flying overseas! Boing way ahead of the times and rolls Royce awesome combo!
This brings back such memories! I finished shooting a pilot episode in LA and was so sad to leave, I remember taking off the same runway back to heathrow so upset. But great video brought back great memories.
The largest plane I ever flown in was a TWA L1011 from SFO to JFK in 1975. Never had the pleasure of flying in a 747-400. I wonder which airlines are going to use the 747-8? It is a longer version of the 747-400. It is sad many U.S. airlines are phasing out the 747 because of fuel costs.
I love the 747 most gorgeous plane ever built... We flew from LAX to Honolulu on Japan Air Lines 747 and flew First Class and went up on the upper deck... It was strange flying into HNL and flying over Pearl Harbor on a Japan Air Lines 747 .. just saying.. But we had a great flight... oh btw where were you flying from LAX and what airline were you on... I think I recognize those beautiful blue engines that is the paint scheme for Delta Air Lines..
i have a terrible fear of flying i hoped a video like this could help me be more comfortable about flying but that sound freaks me out!! but i like the view
The RB211 is the same engine that powered the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar. I wonder if there was any difference between the version that powered the TriStar and the version that powered the 747-400.
The 211 is a family of engines. There are a number of different variants to the engine, most notably the -22B (as per the TriStar), the -524s (as per the 747 and later the 767), and the -535 (as per the 757 and Tu-204). The RB211s in this lovely video are the later standard 524s with better internals and wide-chord fan blades, whereas the ones on the TriStar are old 22Bs - although I think some later ones got early 524s - with clappered fan blades and the capability to make a lovely racket as they fly around. The RB211 is the predecessor to the Trent family, and some of the Trent architecture found its way back into the RB211 series (most notably the Trent 700 HP system found in later 524s - the engines features in this video are probably fitted with the Trent-engineered systems). HTH :)
lord have mercy that's the best thing to watch hands down!!! for some reason although I've never been on a plane, for the last year or so I Kant shake off my addiction to 747's take off and landings don't know why or how I've grown so attached to those planes!!! "german world champion team arrives at home" is the absolute best landing on you tube!!! #747illfollowtoheaven
That was a powerful and noisy takeoff! Also airplane engines can be very noisy during takeoff and landing! This is most likely because during those times the engines are at full power and can be 105 db loud but during crusing altitude the noise drops to about 85 db but during landing the noise drops back up to 105 db also during takeoff and landing the engines are about 20 db louder than they would be during crusing altitude
ok, folks, some physics: the cam is mounted fix (rel. to frame of window) During take-off roll the wingtip is hanging down. At rotation the partial lift is increased to a lift bigger than the aircraft's weight so it can leave the ground - and this can be observed if you SWITCH BACK AND FORTH between ~ 0:20 and 1:20+, note the wingtip at least 8-10ft higher (ref. windowframe) as the gross weight is bending the outer part of the wing upwards. Take aim and note this on your next flight, on airbuses even more accentuated.
Although I normally prefer GE engines, the sound of these RR engines are absolutely beautiful, especially when spooling up.

I think nerds and geeks are cool! Glad you liked the video so much! Feel free to watch as many as you like!

ANGEL productions and always will be
it's a shame most airlines are phasing them out.
Nothing like the queen with one of my favorite airlines
Concorde however is the TRUE Queen of the Skies. Nothing else compares its beauty, power, glamour, speed and technical achievement. The Tu-144 only satisfies 3 of those. A very unique aircraft and it's a damning sign that Aviation took a giant step backwards with her retirement.
Mr SH 747 safety and endurance is better
Leaving out of LA is one of the best experience's in flying.
The sound of those engines are like music to my ears, Queen of the skies. Great Vid.
The engines are certainly great! Glad you enjoyed them! Thanks for the comment!
This 747 take off is the best one
The RB211 is truly a masterpiece

Yeah, I knew both were in the 12's for length
Best 744 sound on UA-cam!
Glad you liked it so much! Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Keep coming back just to hear that awesome sound.
WTF this sound that’s amazing I fly for many times and I never catch this amazing sound bravo 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
RB211 AT THE MAX POWER!!!!! 100%!!!!!! I LOVE THIS RB211 SOUND!!!!!
Nice to see that Rolls Royce logo on the engines, made here in the UK,Great Britian
in Derby, sold throughout the world to plane manufacturers.
Yeah, they're great engine and RR does a great job of supplying quality aircraft engines worldwide!
Trent engines are the best in the world.
Is that why most of the major airlines don't use them
and sometime they blow up in flight, as Lulu said: Boom Bang a Bang !!
Heinrich Dorfmann
..or let the fuel freeze!
That's what I loved about the L10-11s: RollsRoyce RB-211 sound.
It's videos like these that give you a reason to crank your speakers up.
No doubt about it!
Beautiful Aircraft. Beautiful Takeoff. Magnificent sound. Amazing video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the kind words Chris! Glad you liked the video!
Dats an beautiful thing to watch I don't rock planes nor ever rode in one but I'm one huge 747 fan!!!!
Best engine sounds in the sky!!
Yeah, gotta love the RB-211!
Mah584jr HD Aviation 0:13 Screaming Rolls Royce RB211-D4s
All the RR make similar sound but what a powerful thrust! Better than the a380!
+Atharva Bendre A380 has a very smooth engine. i,ve travel from dubai to london in the first class. it was damn superb.

Fantastic Video, I have been on many British Airways 747-400's, the engines are music to my ears. And great view out of the window.
The 747 and the C-5 have the best roars ever
One of my favourites...love the spool down at 2.43. Taking this beast to Lindbergh Field in March...can't wait!
Love those RB-211s!
Me too! Glad you liked the engines!
too bad these British engines are rare on the 747 because they use GE which IMO stands for grim engines
There is something about a rolls Royce engine. ..OMG. Whatta sound. Plus they r great engines.
I just love the powering up off the engines. I use that as my ringtone. Not kidding.
Best 747 video on the internet!
British Airways loves their rolls royce engines, they are on almost every plane in their fleet.
That's one of the reasons I enjoy flying them!

I must say, that was beautiful! Flight is such an incredible feeling
"That sound "- to me it's almost like the engines are begging the pilots to let them climb higher, faster...because they want to.
+TommyT This bird wants to be FREEEEE !
Love the rb211 Buzz my 2nd favorite engine sound behind the tf39 must have been heavy seemed like forever on takeoff likewise seemed like his slats were out for quite a while too
Those engines sound mint!
747-400, queen of the skies. A380 KING of the skies!
Really enjoyed your video. You know, these things take off all around the world, all day long and have done so for decades now, Most people won't even look if they see one climbing out of a city airport, but I am always fascinated every time I see it. It is just amazing to me.

IN RR WE TRUST!
This is stunning. What a plane, what an airport.
Connor Cassidy I'm really glad you enjoyed it! Thank you so much for your comment!
The wing flex on takeoff is always amazing!
the 747 is my second favorite airplane right now!
AJ Mancao your most favorite?
I used to regularly fly a route with this aircraft from SFO to OAK. What a great plane.
short flight
The engines sounds like high voltage current flow.
Beautiful engines!! 👌
I don't care what anyone says. The 747 will always be the best plane in history.
It's an amazing aircraft! It has stood the test of time!
Wow! If only the entire flight could be one long, awesome take off. lolol No thrust reduction, please!
Rolls sound great!! Thanks for sharing
I agree, an awesome take off clip from LAX, feel the power, look at the views !
The deceptive speed is has going down the runway stills amazes me ever since I was a child. This size of doesn't seem like it moving that fast but it is.
This never ceases to amaze me... Great video!

It truly is a historic aircraft! I really enjoyed my flights on board!
Cool watching the wing tip rise as speed increases. Very cool.
It sounds soo happy to me
Classic RB211 the recording does not do it justice the sound is great on takeoff in the cabin and soon they will be gone.
I watch these videos to try and ease my fear of flying.....I do it but I hate it.
+stevedrums Best of luck to you!
+stevedrums Take a look at Dr. Tom Bunn. Former Airline Pilot turned psychologist. He helped me.
Me too
This brings back such memories! I finished shooting a pilot episode in LA and was so sad to leave, I remember taking off the same runway back to heathrow so upset. But great video brought back great memories.
That's awesome! It's part of the reason I film these! For the memories!
***** I love to fly. Half the fun is flying to your destination. When is food being served? :)
Stunning video!!! Love the RR engines. Excellent job!

Lufthansa, Air China, Korean Air, and Transaero will fly the 747-8i.
Thanks uploader. Probably up there with the nicest take offs on UA-cam.
I appreciate it! I'm glad you liked the videos! Feel free to watch as many as you like!

Thank you sir.

Glad you enjoyed it!

British Airways to London!
Various incarnations of the Boeing 747 have been in flight since 1969! This is a proven design in use for almost 50 years!
I hope they keep this old bird, I remember my first time on a Delta airlines 747
Dexion845 It's a great aircraft! I hope to fly on it again someday!
excellent - sound is fantastic
Beautiful video, thank you! I've always loved 747's 😀
Nice vid!!. Starboard power-plants purring away beautifully!.

That airfield is huge
The slow-down at 2:40 was cool to hear when I flew, my seats were in the same spot, just forward of the turbines, I watched them spin the whole trip.
Yeah, what's really interesting was that the inboard engine cone stripe was colored yellow while the outboard one was colored white!
***** I used to be a vacuum furnace tech and did heat treating for turbine blades.
That's pretty cool!
Best place to watch planes takeoff and land at LAX is a place called Imperial Hill. Check it out next time your in the area.
Yeah, I've heard about it and seen videos! Looks like a great spot!

Beautiful. You could barely hear the sound it was so quiet. Not a loud roar.
I'm glad you liked it! The RR on the 747-400 is so smooth!
Love that sound
Epic spool up! Love Rolls Royce!
The RB211 Buzz!
Yes, it's fantastic!
It is sooooooooooooo much better than the cf6 which is good but these rb211s have atmosphere and sound so much better
That's Dockweiler State Beach! Yes, people do swim there!
I went on one today! A lot more fascinating than the A380. It climbs faster.
I find the 747 to be far more elegant in appearance to be sure, but I think both aircraft are great to fly on!
I wish I had the chance to fly the 747, but I'm content with flying the 777-300ER.
Both are great!

Amazing take off !!!
woooooow no words needed ! :-) sooooooo cool listen to that symphonie
Glad you liked it so much! I really like the Rolls Royce sound on the 747!
it is cool like every RR driven aircraft !
Beautiful takeoff!
Great sound!
