      I agree. I’m tired of this sweet, hardworking family getting negative comments. I think they are doing a wonderful job and enjoying their lives in a very productive way. I feel blessed that they willingly share their projects and lives with us, completely honestly too. God bless them and their beautiful children. 🩷

    I don't think any of us would define you as 'slacking' 😂. If anything, ya'll need more breaks! Hope you do take some no-work days because stepping back from a project and coming back to it refreshed helps to build solutions and ideas.

    Please don't apologize for things. You don't owe anybody anything. People enjoy you sharing your journey and seeing you and your beautiful family doing things we would never attempt but enjoy, very much, seeing. You all are a blessing to many people. The reason you are all over the place is because you have been blessed with a creative brain and your head is just full of ideas. And you have Ashley to help ground you with her organizational skills. Opposites attack and can make a good team and a job well done. You have the ability to look at a job and see different ways it could be done and most people look at a job and say where do I begin. Thank you for sharing your projects. Most importantly enjoy your projects. ❤

    Lookin good y’all! I feel your pain brother. When we remodeled the ‘87 single wide we did the same roof system and were in a rush to get new roof in since old one was leakin badly, we didn’t address this issue(never even occurred to us at the time) and we regretted afterwards. No way we were gonna go back and redo it. Keep it up tho. It’ll be worth the time it takes now. It’ll pay off. Love y’all!

    I’m interested in seeing your family’s cooking and eating habits. Who does the cooking? What kinds of food does your family eat? Do you grill?(gas or charcoal?) Do you eat meat? How often do you get takeout? McDonalds? Chinese food?
    I’d bet I’m not the only one that would like to know. 😊

      So they made " renovation pudding" one time and it's a super healthy chocolate desert worthy of the finest Michelin starred restaurants -I think that was maybe two years ago? Before Florida I think? It is very popular anywhere I take it and the portions can be small as it is very rich, and I love teasing people to guess what the three ingredients are ! Hopefully Doug or Ashley will see this comment and can provide a link to the video!

    • @jamesjdecarlo9842
      @jamesjdecarlo9842 5 місяців тому +2

      Yes - I am curious about these aspects too. A good while ago Doug showed us a grill that they had purchased and told us that they would like to build a cooking/grilling gazebo outside. One time, Doug accidentally showed us a pot with meatballs and sauce in it. Otherwise, they don’t seem to want to share any details about their eating habits - and that’s perfectly fine and their choice. I would bet money that they never - ever go to any fast food establishments.

    Just wanted to thank you for being so patient with your family when you work. I learned from you many years ago now. You and Ashley do such a great job on everything you do. I have watched you guys redo a single wide mobile home years ago, the double wide mobile home property and all the clean up and buildings, the property now in Florida and all the renovations. You guys are great and do fantastic. You do so much. Even watched you repair your bus and then bus build. Repair cars along the way and just do everything. You are an incredible carpenter, roofer, mechanic, electrician, plumber, and anything you set your mind to. You do overthink things but that is who you are. Ashley is like, just do it. It's okay. For 2 people with such vastly DIYfferent ways of tackling projects you have a wonderful way of accomplishing amazing work. Ashley prefers planning, beginning, the middle and the completion of projects. I totally understand that mindset. It has continuity. Doug prefers spontaneity. Many projects in-progress at the same time allows him the option re which project suits his mood that and allows for weather variations. Plus the onging lack of inventory does often interrupt focusing on one project. My personal approach is different than either Ashley's or Doug's. I planned to retirevin 2022 with 52yrs with thecsame wonderful company. Due to "19" they offered a nice retirement package. I accepted because I knew it was the best financial decision. (I think we had 3.5 months to decide.) Suddenly I wasn't working 6 12hour days in a row 80-90% of the time. (Vacation days caused the variables.) I lost any form of a structured schedule. I start projects and I'm easily distracted or become bored and start somethingelse. It snowballs. So I have several projects going and it's somewhat overwhelming. (Some projects must be delayed due to a broken shoulder. Painting projects are impossible for at least 4 more months. Everything seems to now take twice as long so I am back to being bored, hurting and annoyed.) The only reason I mentioned my issues is I would much prefer to switch my way of approaching projects with either Ashley or Doug. And if possible maybe include 15-25% of their reno skills! I can dream.

    • @justmejo9008
      @justmejo9008 5 місяців тому

      I am recently unexpectedly retired also.I was being hard on myself because I have many things I can do. I’m just not getting them done. I never thought about that structure of a 9 to 5 days a week job making you be more efficient in the off time and weekends. I have been pushing myself to get on some sort of functionality and routine. I think the pressure to get a job done is helpful now when I am reading your post, and I must find a rhythm that makes me feel good instead of making me feel bad. I am glad you brought up the different ways people think a job through and that no one way is the perfect way.

    It's not a problem when you take some time to relax and do something like that puzzle. There's more to life than diy.

    I like to jump around when doing things because if I stay on one thing I get bored and will not get anything done. Maverick's robot's are so real looking. Great picture. Keep doing things the way that feels right to you.

    It's not going to hurt for you to get some rest. Chill sometimes! You're doing fine and it's going to be fine. I'm the SAME way about jumping around. A.D.D. makes me get side tracked big time. I will start something and walk to get something and see something else that needs doing and do that and then thinj, ugh I am suppose to be doing so and so. :P It's ok though.

    Maverick has an attention to detail and a focus beyond his years, much like Belle and his parents! Those robots took time and it shows. ❤

    Hey Doug how does it feel to have such a beautiful wife who will hop on the roof with you when needed? 😊 You both are great together with your lovely differences and all! The children are thriving with your direction and your example. I'm so happy for you! Thank you for the video and rest assured that your loyal followers (and we are loyal...😊) love your content no matter what it is cos it's always great! I, for one, appreciate the fact that you can share with us your frustrations and know we understand. Heck we are all human and have plenty of bad days...and yes we do care about your whole family and wish you the best at all times. ❤

    Doug, cut a couple spacer/jig measured so that when you put a purlin down and place the spacer perpendicular on top the next purlin will be 24 inches on center. That way you don’t have to use your tape every time placing purlins. Saves so much time!!

    Sometimes things happen to cause us to slow down-ie-rain. I always try to think that there was a reason for the interruption.
    Maverick got to draw a very good picture of robots on that rainy day-and his attention to detail was alot like his dads. Great job, Maverick!
    Ashley, I'm the same way. I like finishing one thing then moving on to another. If i find myself jumping around on projects, I make myself stop everything and organize my brain and get back on track. Then i go back to the first thing i was doing and finish then move on.
    Y'all are doing great with everything you have going on!
