Build an AMAZING Floating Island Ancient Ruins Diorama | Scenery | Terrain

- In this video I was sent some products by Ziterdes and was challenged to ‘pimp’ on of their models. I build a diorama of an ancient natural scene using a wide variety of components, some natural, some pre made. The process took me on an amazing journey and stretched my imagination to its limits. I am really happy with the result and hope you enjoy the video.
If you have any questions about techniques or materials, please do not hesitate to ask.
A huge thank you to Thomas Doll from Ziterdes for sending me the products

AMAZING! The overall design on that thing is fantastic. The shape and flow are extremely pleasing. The detail, of course is breathtaking. This really transcends the medium. It goes so far beyond tabletop terrain, gaming, diorama building or vignette crafting. It’s truly in a category all its own. A real work of art
That's incredibly kind of you to say. I trained as a painter in art school, so I chuckle that my work is now predominantly 3d. Thanks for taking the time watch.
Best. Model I have ever seen
Thank you. Incredibly kind of you to say!!
I'm sick in bed and this video has lifted my spirits.
Sorry to hear that and wish you a speedy recovery. I'm glad I could lift your spirits a little. Thanks for watching 👍
"...I'm still pretty new to all this." - WHAT!? That is one PHENOMENAL build my friend. Your gutsy 'outside-the-box' attack on that Ziterdes piece certainly let the muses flow. I preferred watching this video to, James Cameron's 'Avatar' - seriouosly!
Its comments like this that really humble me. It makes me so happy to hear people respond so positively to my crazy ideas. Thank you 👍👍👍
You’re the man Keith!!
Well I hope Tommy is feeling very pleased with himself, because you took his products and spun them into gold. Remarkable build, and a very enjoyable video!
Thank for your kind words!! I enjoyed this one a lot. Much appreciated 🙏 👍
Now that turned out spectacular.
Also the sound editing of the video is calmness. This is high quality.
Thank you very much! really means a lot to me
This looks like something straight out of the bizarre dreamscape of Elden Ring.
Thanks dude, indeed - whilst that wasn't my initial inspiration, I can definitely see the connection. Thanks for watching
One of my favorites. Unreal...... wow.
Really appreciated 🙏
I'd suggest that the product you were sent has never, nor will ever, look as good as this. Your genius move of non-destructive deconstruction was inspired. Brava!
I watched the whole thing start to finish without stopping or pausing. Excellent.
this is so calming
Cheers buddy. Glad you enjoyed it.
Ich bin so was von begeistert , ein Kunstwerk erster Güte , so dunkel und geheimnisvoll ....👍👍👍
Thank you. I can read German so I actually understood your comment. Happy you enjoyed it
Whaouh.... Absolutely fantastic!!! I love your grass and plants and your beautiful tree!!!!❤️❤️❤️
That's very kind of you to say. If you want more like this let me know and I will be happy to build something similar
@@creativecuts7803 yeees.... It will be great 👍👍👍
Dude, so good to hear the way you talk about your creation, so imersive. Thank you for that.
I'm really pleased you enjoy my videos. I try to make stuff that I myself would like to watch, being informative and sharing my creative process. I am no expert, far from it and constantly learning myself. Thank you for your kind words!!
Wow Wow Wow……..simply amazing work,
Cheer dude, much appreciated 👍
27:08 i wanne let tommy from ziterdes know.... give this guy a contract !dont let him go! u struck a goldmine hiring this guy !
The next collab with Ziterdes is underway
@@creativecuts7803 i am happy for u! i mean.... u se potential when u se it right 😊😉
WOW!! Absolutely awesome!! Thank you for sharing your vision.
It is my pleasure, thank you for taking the time to watch.
That is way cool. Outstanding. The tree is humongous. I think you got enough branches in it to make it look right.
Haha yeah the tree is pretty big. But to get one of those huge ancient trees to scale you actually realise how big one of those trees are. 🌳
seen a handful of diorama builders, this is pretty nutz
👍👍👍
фантастика!!!!!!😻😻😻
The resine was a succesfull risk after all. It creates a dark swampy water that seems to hide some mistery somewhere under the bridge. It gives the diorama a deep story potential to let our mind fly with haha! Beautiful final result. So inspiring. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks man. The fact that it kick starts your imagination means it was a success for me. All about letting your mind run wild right? Haha. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time 👍
Really beautiful diorama
Thanks Mike! Much appreciated 🙏👍
This gives me great ideas for my stupidly large diorama project. I have a series of aerial isles and this is a huge help!
Happy to help. Sounds epic. Would love to see it when it's done
So rad!
Thanks man. Appreciate it
Absolutely freaking awesome 👍
Cheers brother 👍
Honestly love watching your videos. Your voice gives me massive Clive Owen vibes 🤣
Very kind of you to say
Gorgeous tree!!!
Cheers!. It was the time I tried anything of that scale or ambition but really happy with the outcome and it still makes me smile everyday sitting on the shelf in my living room. Thanks for watching
I'm late again ,great diorama,I want to take it to a high place or a jetty and photograph it against a sunrise or set as a floating island, excellent video
Haha I love it when something I create awakens others imagination. Thanks 👍
Watching again. Since I first watched this 3 months ago I've probably seen hundreds of diorama builds and this is absolutely still my favorite!
So honoured. Thank you
It's over the top awesome!!
Thank you 👍
Absolutely Brilliant! That's what I think of this build.
Easily the best diorama I've ever seen. It's incredible.
Humbled!
A beautifully done diorama. It made me wonder what that grand place looked like and what it was used for when it was occupied.
The coolest diorama I've seen in ages! I love how you used that piece of found log as the base for your creation. Bravo!
Thank you! My gf looked at me like I was crazy walking back to my car with a huge piece of tree over my shoulder. So pleased I did haha.
Incredibly Beautiful !!!!!
Thank you. Very kind of you to say
OMG this is AMAZING
You are very kind!
So soothing, creative and inspirational...your videos are therapeutic, your creations works of art. Thank you!
Much appreciated 🙏 and glad my approach resonates with you. More on the way
This is relaxing. Love your voice
Thanks. I guess I try to make videos that I, as a viewer, would like to watch. I accept that this style may not be for everyone but that is also fine by me. I do it because it makes me happy to build things. I would be building anyway but youtube gives me a sort of structure to work with. Thanks for watching 👍
Now that is thinking outside the box. A fantastic build.
Cheers dude!! Glad you liked it 👍
One word........EPIC!
Thank you for making me want to do modelling again.
The best kind of compliment I can receive! Thanks for watching 👍
Incredible
👍👍
That actually knocked my socks off! That was an absolute Master Class indeed! The final edit production was gripping. What an amazing piece.
You are very kind. Thank you. It means a lot 👍
you win my heart with this tree by far i must say it's most epic diorama tree ive seen. Somehow it was obvious why not use natural wood and add some leaves on them. Every creator struggle with wires, clay or resin and here you are immortalize some fragment of real world in you diorama for eternity. Love this. see you later i must binge watch rest of your vids. :)
Again thanks for watching. And glad you find my content interesting to watch more videos. It was the first time I attempted anything of this scale and ambition but truly happy with the result. It sits proudly in my living room and I look at it everyday and smile. Sure I learned a lot from the process and would change on or two things in the future but thats also what keeps me coming back for more. Welcome aboard and more to come soon.
Amazing transformation - wow.
Thanks!! Appreciate you stopping by
I've seen *many* Dioramas in the last months. But no other has send me shivers down my spine. Only this one, you've created!
Truly thank you. Its easy to get consumed with numbers on UA-cam but its comments like this that really make it worth while!! I'm glad you enjoyed it and inspired you in some way.
Good job Tommy - the power of imagination indeed.
Thanks man! It was a lot of fun to build and I still smile every morning when I walk past it in my living room where it is on display
wow I'll start making diorama bcs of you hopefully I'll have enough money haha
I know how overwhelming it can be to begin with. My advice is to start small and use and repurpose materials you can get for free. Card, coffee stirrers, offcuts - I often go for a walk with a few small plastic bags and gather sand and small stones, interesting twigs and sticks.
@@creativecuts7803 yeah I feel overwhelmed and don't know exactly what to get for exemple the paste you use sculpt thing so I'll try something with plaster and see how it goes, do you have a community discord btw ?
This is the most beautiful diorama I've seen on yt and I've watched at least over 200 diorama videos on yt
Thank you, absolutely humbled 🙏
Nice work. Well done.
Thanks, really appreciate it 🙏
Looks great! Maybe a shorter bolt next time would help 😂
Haha personal choice I guess
I have not yet watch the full video but I want to Thank you for being one of the few channels that actually understands what it means to make a creative video on making something where you actually narrate the video and talk about what your doing as a-posed to the man others who simply say im going to make this and then just show a speed building process with no info on materials or technics or ideas for said project just I’m making this and here it is and why those video fall under how to is ridiculous when all they are is a speed time of the building process with no narrating , so thank you for actually making a how to video with narration
My pleasure. I try to make the kind of video that I like to watch .
Wow just Wow! Watched this twice just to make sure i didnt miss anything, That is a stunning creation
Thanks dude, really appreciate the kind feedback. 👍🖖✌️
I'm making this for my granddaughter.
Amazing hope it goes well and feel free to shout me if you need any pointers. Always happy to help
Amazing ! I need to work on applying grasses and such its a bit rough. Paint those rods holding it up Black 3.0 paint and it would look like its floating with the black backdrop :)
👍👍
this is insane
Thank you so much. Got another build similar to this in progress
Great job. Congrats 👌
Thanks! Appreciate you watching 🙏
This is amazing. Nice work
Thanks dude 👍
Nice job mate!
👍👍👍
I've watched this several times it's just so wonderful. Please do more like this they are so inspiring
Thank you glad you enjoyed
I just started making dioramas myself and I''m so glad that I found your channel. Your work is absolutely incredible! The creativity and attention to detail blows my mind. Thank you so much for sharing your gift with the world! I'm super inspired by this video. Please keep making these videos! I appreciate the time and energy all of this takes.
Firstly I am humbled by your kind words. I love making things, always have done. And am very glad that it gives others some inspiration too. Welcome aboard and more videos on the way.
outstanding love it
Thanks man. Very kind of you to say.
I really like the way you use found objects for foliage and ground work in your models..its inspirational, especially to a younger generation coming up who might not be able to afford shop bought dedicated accessories.it brings back to modeling a sense of discovery of making do and mending rather than longing for those accessories that one might not be able to afford!!
Couldn't have said it better myself. Nature provides so much and fixing or reusing old things is very much part of my ethos. Thank you for taking the time to watch and write such a great comment!! 👍👍👍
This is amazing! I've never seen a build like this.
Cheers dude! Mich appreciated. I tried something a little out of the box and am so happy with the result.
That turned out to be an absolutely beautiful and inspiring piece of art. It provokes the imagination to come up with stories that could possibly explain the kind of world that would contain such a scene. Excellent job.
Thank you so much. Your comment humbles me and if it makes you think of stories and provokes your imagination then all the better. Appreciate you taking the time to watch 👍
Just excelent. You should be very proud of your self and thank you for sharing.
Inspiring ❤🎉
👍👍👍
Fantastic job on that diorama! Looks like Ziterdes makes some very nice products and your modifications made them just that much better. So where is the dragon that lives there?
Thanks man. Cheers for the kind words. And yeah I was impressed with the quality. And funny you should mention a dragon ... Next build shhhh haha
Simply incredible ! I hope I will be able to do something apporaching one time in my life :)
Trust your imagination!
I've seen the odd video of yours pop up on my recommended list, but this is the first one I've watched. Absolutely stunning diorama mate, just beautiful detail and creativity from start to finish. Subscribed, and looking forward to seeing more of your creations!
Welcome to the party! And thanks for your very kind words. Really appreciate your feedback. More on the way!!
@@creativecuts7803 Thanks! I've been catching up in some of your older videos today while I work, and they've inspired me to maybe use some miniature/diorama techniques in some of my future films. So thanks for the inspiration too!
First time viewer. Wow. This is amazing.
Thank you sir! Plenty more on the channel if your interested. I try to keep things varied so should be something for everyone. Cheers for watching 👍
@@creativecuts7803 I've watched a couple, I'll likely end up bingeing them. The jungle temple v2 is currently my favorite.
How did you get started doing this as a YT channel?
@@TonyE727 purely by accident really. I was really into miniatures when I was young and resurrected the hobby during lockdown. I started building loads of stuff because I was at home all day and then thought it would be fun to record the process. Maybe someone would find it interesting. I put it on UA-cam and never thought anyone would watch them. Trying to keep up with a constant release schedule for youtube has push me in directions that I never would have explored and I am loving every second of the journey. I have a job and do this purely as a hobby but I would be making stuff anyway, so I might as well film it and share with the world.
Awesome work
Thanks dude. I'm glad you liked it 👍
This was AMAZING I say AMAZING!!!!!! you out did yourself with this build.
Thanks, it sits proudly in my living room. I look at it everyday. Appreciate the kind words👍👍👍
Awesome
👍👍👍
Great job!!! My only critiques are that I think it could use a little more color in key areas to draw the eye and I wish you would have made the base and metal support rods look as old and worn as you made the landscape itself. Oh and also maybe next time crumple up the paper plants a little so they don't look so uniform.
Fair points and always happy for feedback. I guess I wanted to contrast the display method to the model itself. The two are very much separate entities. But for the right project I like the idea of a base that becomes part of the model. It was my first time attempting anything of that scale and detail but I learned so much in the process. Thanks for watching
@@creativecuts7803 Great job. Hard to believe it's your first time. I've since watched more of your videos and you've come a long way. Very prolific artist for sure. Keep up the amazing work.
Amazing
👍👍👍👍
Just wow…. Incredible man subscribed shared and following
Thats incredibly kind of you. Glad you liked it and I look at the one everyday as its displayed in my living room. 👍👍
Amazing concept, looks like something straight out of dark souls!
👍👍👍
This is amazing bro. You looked at nature as well as what you were gifted and not only made the company's product look bitchin but you also had a artist mind while walking in nature and used that beauty to make something amazing. People that aren't artistic don't see things the way we do. Again bravo bro this is truly beautiful
Thank you sir. Creativity always finds more creativity. 👍
JUST WATCHED FOR THE 3RD TIME I THINK THIS IS AN AMAZING PIECE OF WORK.
amazing 😮
👍👍
holy shit sir this is epic...stunning piece
Really appreciate that! Thank you for watching
Really quite beautiful in execution and scope of imagination!
Thank you so much. Really appreciate it
This is incredible!! Absolutely beautiful!!
Thanks really appreciate it👍
This is the most amazing build I have ever seen!!!
Your kind words humble me. I had a lot of fun with this one and really surprised myself with what was possible. More like this coming!
Man this is truly amazing, i have never seen a diorama more beautiful than this, good job.
Thank you so much for your kind words. This build holds a special place in my heart and now it sits proudly in my living room and makes me smile everyday. Thanks for watching. 👍👍
Just amazing!
Cheers bud 👍 much appreciated
the holding the items together and visualizing what the possible outcomes are is the first and most powerful tool/ tip for new makers guys
protip; popping the bubbles on the resin can be done with a BBQ lighter, hold the button down just enough to let a pool of butane pour out onto the surface of the resin then pull the trigger. it will ignite the pool of gas and burn it faster then possible to scorch anything :)
OMG ITS AMAZING😍😍🔝🔝😱😱😱
Thank you
Funny story. I was going to log onto my favourite mmo Elder Scrolls Online. I've got the bank holiday Monday off work, thought great stuff. Servers down for maintenance! So seeing as I've got time on my hands I thought okay, UA-cam it is.
Simply stunning! You have captured perfectly the essence of a fantasy setting. I'm so pleased that this was in my suggestions. I salute your imagination and your talent sir. Subbed and liked. I got coffee, I got snacks. Keep them coming!
Sir, funny how the world works sometimes. But really appreciate your feedback and kind words. Glad you enjoyed it and hope you have a great Bank Holiday!
I just have to say that I love your voice!
This is absolutely awe-inspiring.
Thank you. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch it.
Commenting on behalf of the UA-cam Suggested gang! Amazing work, that's a sub for sure!!
Thank you good sir. Appreciate you taking the time to stop by and getting involved. 👍
That was so relaxing and inspiring. Punctuated, of course, by happily aggressive dremeling and flame throwing.
What, by the way, is accomplished by the setting-the-river-on-fire step?
Heat releases any bubbles in the resin. A heat gun is safer. I made the ultimate mistake in my Vietnam video where art imitated life. Luckily no lasting damage but playing with fire has risks.
And thanks for taking the time to watch it. Really proud of this one.
@@creativecuts7803 Rightly so, it's a wonderful piece.
seriously great build
Thanks bud, letting my mind run wild. So much fun
Such an amazing piece of art! I'm getting strong Studio Ghibli vibes when seeing the result :)
Thank you for your very kind words. Used to watch a lot of studio ghibli when I was younger so maybe some of that came through subconsciously. Thanks for watching 👍
This diorama is amazing! It really captures your imagination and transports you into the piece as if you could truly walk upon the island! You've gained a new subscriber because your art is just incredible!
Thank you sir!! 👍
wow - love it
Looks fantastic
That's an awesome build and use of materials!!! They are the same techniques I could use in model railroading scenery. Well Done.
Cheers, funnily enough I have watched many videos about all kinds of model building. So many transferable skills and yet each version of the hobby kind of does its own thing. Happy building 👍👍
Now that is the best so far liked using the resin & the grass plants & tree finish it so well.
Where do you display it at home.
Yeah this proudly sits in my living room on a cabinet. It makes me smile everyday and has inspired many more ideas
