- Hi Guys, in this video I build an Alien Laboratory Escape Diorama. I used some packaging for the walls and even gave sculpting the aliens a go. Hope you enjoy.

This turned out great! I don't think the scientist survived though. Of course, what did he expect after experimenting on an apparently hostile species. This was fun!

Micro and spaghetti LED's will make a good edition, if you want to add some lighting. They are tiny, and the spaghetti LED's are flexible, and you can cut them to size. You just need to solder them and connect them.
Great tips. I do have quite a range of leds in my 'armoury', but will defo check out the ones you mentioned.

Very real commentary! Question, what size is the mesh on the guard rail. They do have different sizes at garden centres.
Thanks! It's approx 1 cm squares. Works quite well at 28/32mm scale.
Where did you find those computer terminal files been looking for something just like that and love your use of multiple materials

awesome work! some leds under the tubes woulve really set them off. how long did you leave the resin vefore doing the second deep pour to avoid the join line?

Great job what Brand of paint and Brushes you use
Cheap sets of nail brushes from amazon. They come in a range of sizes and I basically have 3 brush pots brand new for detailed painting. 'Used'for everyday painting and 'glue' brushes. I'm terrible at cleaning brushes well so I kind of see them as disposable. Approx £10 for 10 brushes

Would hot glue gun sticks work for your resin tubes? Resin is messy and expensive. I know the glue sticks don’t have the same transparency, but they do look great with an led light shining thru it to give it a tint?

Thanks for your kind comment. Yeah hot glue could have worked but it is difficult to colour and dries quite milky. Could be a cool effect but there are always many options. 👍
Where do you get your ideas from? I just do my model railway :)
Haha my mind is a curious one. I just build what I want to build often for no reason other than because I want to see what it would look like. I keep a notepad where I just write down potential ideas as they come to me.
I'm very impressed with your broken-glass effects, it can be tricky getting plastic to 'look right', but you cracked it [see what i did there?]. The mutiple blows until it finally shattered was a nice touch too. And I think that scientist probably got what was coming to him... Nice work.

You need to lightly sand plastics to give it some tooth for the glue to grab onto. Trying to glue smooth plastic doesn't work well for the same reason spiders can't climb out of bathtubs.
Great tip. I often do that. I still find that some plastics just don't like certain types of glue. Must be something in the chemical make up. 👍
@@creativecuts7803 I've read/seen others talk about certain plastics not bonding with certain adhesives. And some need a treatment before they do glue together, like a primer, sanding, etc. Flaming a surface seems to come up frequently in videos as a way to change the surface chemistry of some types of plastics. Just a light, quick going over with a butane torch. No melting at all. Sounds weird, but seems to work really well. I think I've seen 'Bill Making Stuff' do it.
I love the sewing/knitting grid! Funny enough, I use it for straining spout seeds when growing them in Mason jars, but didn't occur to me to use it for trash bashing! LOL! Gonna have to rob one of my own stashes for another stash!!!

What an awesome build! Just a tip - those modular straws can be bought cheaply from One Below if you have a store near you. They’re £1 each.

@sub39h oh gosh, because they are rubbery, probably have some silicone in them. Basically I tried to prime them and then paint on thick acrylic paint. It took a couple of coats but it covered. However, the moment I touched them the paint comes off so I handled them super carefully, glued them in place and then touched up any paint lift.
Very very nice. As mentioned the shattered glass and protruding wires coming out best I've seen. Soon I will be using resin pour. Haven't seen any cheap as you mentioned (price not a deal breaker) will check around, maybe you have supply list. Didn't check yet. Maybe make my own pour. Your narration is as sweet to the ear as your dioramas are candy to the eye..subbed..a pleasure, mine.

This build would be perfect for some LEDs! Maybe put them over the aliens in the tubes and have the broken tube LED to flicker like it was damaged in the escape. Just a thought. Cool work though! (the demise of the lab worker was a great touch 😉)

Excellent!!! Most dioramas are all old-fashioned or Victorian and that's great and all, but it's so cool to see something different! Especially since I've been working on similar type stuff.

You were good when i started watching your channel, but you keep improving 🙂 Would you consider doing a diorama based on a game or a film/TV-series next? Seeing as you're more partial to scifi-ish themes, something from the Fallout franchise? Or why not a step away from it and make something from the horror genre? Anyway, thanks for the video, i enjoyed it as usual

Oh, that moment when you first wiped the blood with your finger and made the smear was magical. I think I liked it better when there was less blood and the smear was pinker-how juicy are these scientists, anyway?-but an excellent piece of storytelling indeed. That has the look of a classic 70s or 80s sci-fi movie. It could be set on a space ship, or an orbiting research facility. The cardboard packing material was a perfect choice, it gives that exact vibe, same with the 3D printed computer terminals. They look like the ones we had in the computer lab in my high school in the 80s.
Hahaha brilliant. Thank you for your kind words. I went to school in the 80s too, so I guess it's part of my experience. It was the cardboard packing that gave me the idea. Sometimes inspiration comes from the strangest places ✨️
1:55 I concur; that is a really cool structure.
Sanding embroidery mesh can give it some tooth, and make it easier to stick down.
Have you experimented with adding a tiny amount of smoke to your model when photographing it, to give it some areal perspective, and so, a great sense of scale?
Haha yes I often use smoke in my models when filming. 👍
Back in the 90s I did built a temple ruin out of cardboard packaging like this, I painted it gray and then drew the black lines for the individual boulders on it. Then I covered it with moss and a couple of dry sticks... the perfect diorama for my Indian Jones action figure :-)

Outstanding job on that diorama. Love the use of the cardboard packaging material. I like how you add the displays to fill the holes in the packaging. I was going to suggest that those would make a great part of a spaceship command center with the holes being view screens or windows. Again great job on the diorama and a great back story for it.

Haha I constantly use trash materials not only because it's free but it forces you to see the world around you differently. That's where the real fun is

Hi buddy, it's always a pleasure to see how your skills create the imagination in 3D. The resin prints are a delightful surprise for a detailed look. The Aliens look fabulous. They evoke that wiry spindle look. This whole build is quite unique and a very interesting, cerebral piece. It makes one think - "What if?" It makes me think - "What if I have nightmares about this?" But, I'll sleep easy knowing it was just a figment of your imagination! Or is it mine? See you again friend.
Haha sorry to put ideas in your head. This one was really fun to make but it did get pretty technical. I love letting my mind wonder, particularly on the subject of aliens. See you soon brother
