    Thanks so much for this very relevant review. I too live in Perth, WA. I own the extended version in the BYD 'white' which is actually more of a very light oyster grey colour. I was very pleasantly surprised by the colour on picking up the vehicle. Just don't expect a white car! It's light enough to repel a lot of heat in the summer which is my primary reason for always choosing white cars. The safety aspect of white over a darker grey is another important reason too, much as I love grey cars. Now I must say right up front, that I have never driven a Tesla of any description. I intend to take one for a test drive soon, but at this stage, the BYD is the only EV I have ever driven. I have driven some high end cars in my time including some European models renowned for comfort. Personally, I would rate the BYD Atto 3 as the best car I have ever driven. It astounds me every time I drive it, how well put together it is and the level of comfort as standard. The only two misgivings I have so far, are the standard tyres supplied with the car which I replaced with Continentals after a few hundred kMs. The Continentals grip much better so must elevate the safety aspect too. The other is the ride which I find too soft. This is my personal opinion. Some people may really like the ultra soft ride but I think it would be better if there was more damping of the suspension. Getting into our 2016 KIA Sportage GT-Line after driving the Atto 3 is a very noticeable difference in suspension firmness and control. I have very minor gripes with the Atto 3 and would give it a personal 8.5/10 if I was asked to rate it.

      Agreed Lou. I have a blue Atto 3 and live in Mandurah and though I've owned a few reasonably expensive mid luxury cars (plus the usual 20 odd dross ones), the Atto is simply the best all round car we've owned. Would still prefer the Ioniq 5 but at 65yo, I'm not going to play some silly lottery game every time Hyundai releases another 80-100 cars. Take my deposit Hyundai, and I'll wait the year.

    I live in New Zealand and we have two Teslas, a BYD Atto 3 and an MG ZS EV. I don't regret buying any of them as they all have their pros and cons. Much as I like our MG ZS EV 2022, I think the Atto 3 is worth the extra NZ$6K that it cost me. The Atto 3 is just fine for doing the 470km trip to our holiday home without spending two much time charging. It is comfortable and efficient.

    Good review thanks. After 7000+km on them in all except icy conditions I can confidently say that the only thing wrong with the standard Batman tyres is the name, they're actually a very good tyre. The problem (if we can call it a problem) is that at 1700kg the A3 is under-tyred with only 215s. For comparison Tesla's similar weight Mod Y runs on 255s, more appropriate to the weight. Having driven the A3 and the MY a fair bit the only advantage I see about the MY is that Tesla's Supercharger network, apart from that I think the A3 is a better all round car despite the price difference. Finally, if you put the A3 into dragstrip mode it does zero to 100 in 6.8, about the same as the standard range MY.

You pay a lot more for a service the. $189, twice a year, so I feel it’s cheap, yes people say what do you service, well I’m nor a mechanic but for $189 it doesn’t matter to me. 8 year warranty on battery. 400km at 60km/h, many owners it seems are getting about 350km on a full battery but as with any car including ICE cars how you drive, weather conditions, topography, etc will determine range. Also has from memory 3.3kW for VTL system and only is limited to 10A due to the power board otherwise could do up to 16A.

    Honestly couldn't care less about one pedal driving. I've driven with it and hated it. It's like driving on low gears on manual, not smooth at all.
    Coasting/rolling is more efficient than regen braking, you're not losing anything by using brakes - they still regen until the car needs absolute stopping power. I can see numpties getting used to only using the gas pedal and smashing that in an emergency instead of brakes.

    • @grumpyoldmanandhisev

      Don't understand your nasty attitude about it - you don't have to use it. If people like it then so what? Let them. I've test driven a few with it and no big deal to me - I very quickly got used to it.
      "You're not losing anything by using brakes... " - well obviously you're wearing out your brakes quicker. A new set of pads isn't always cheap. AND you're missing out on regen - not sure what you mean by: "they still regen until the car needs absolute stopping power" - ??

    • @killcat1971
      @killcat1971 2 роки тому +2

      I've often thought it would be good to have it as part of the breaking system, as you apply the breaks it uses increasing levels of regenerative breaking, with physical breaks making up the last part.

    • @allthenamesaretaken2
      @allthenamesaretaken2 2 роки тому +2

      @@ecurb10 pressing on the brakes in any ev is all regen to a certain point. It's the same as lifting the go pedal on Tesla's. Just because you don't have 1 pedal driving, doesn't mean you don't have regen. What I meant is I'd rather have full control of when the car regents rather than feathering the go pedal to keep the car coasting instead of going regen.
