So glad ya'll are doing these challenges. I've been saying all along you can do it without Genie+, heck Breedlove did MK without using his cell phone at all. I'll also add, most people aren't going to do all of the things in the park, if you don't have littles, you probably aren't doing the dance party or Cars show, or if you do have littles you might not do Indie or even BATB. Good job Sage.
i’ve been saying this too! i’ve never used genie plus or lightning lanes before at any of the parks but i’ve always gotten to do everything i wanted to
Man how I wish they would go back to picking our 3 fast passes prior to coming down. It was fun planning and made for a less stressful day knowing you have your favorite rides lined up and then after your three passes are used you could then try to get another one during day in the park. It was so easy and just made a better day in the parks. Genie + in my view is a money grab and a scam.
So how much longer til baby Sage makes an appearance. Good job on doing recon for future park adventures and good luck with the little one.
Remember, you don’t have to buy Genie + to pay for an individual lighting lane at select attractions. That is; Rise, Tron, 7 dwarfs, Remi, FOP.

I was hoping for a video series without Genie+ so I'm so glad to see this! As a family of four adding Genie+ for all four Disney parks isn't something we really have the budget for so I really appreciate all the info!
I appreciate that you guys did this experiment on a pretty busy day(spring break) because I feel like you have done this in the past but it was like mid September when wait times were low. Maybe I am confusing it with a different genie plus video but nonetheless, this seems like a more realistic scenario and I’m glad that you succeeded! Giving me hope it goes this well when I am there the end of May!!

Nice! I am so excited to see Fantasmic again, it is seriously unlike any other show, I describe it to people who don't know it's like a Disney arena concert within the parks. So excited to go again in a few weeks!

Sage - Thank you for doing this video! Old school style. This is what our day was like in 1995. No Genie. Maybe fastpass. But a 45 minute walk on was short! We saw lines of 4 hours for Space Mountain.

Something worth noting about this challenge is that you not only showed how to get all the attractions in Hollywood Studios (perhaps the most challenging of all the parks with so few rides overall and most being very popular) without Genie Plus to save money but you also showed it is not necessary to buy park hoppers. If you save on the Genie Plus, you will need time in the park to get on everything you want, therefore you won't have time to park hop, saving even more money.
Sage, congrats on your future visits to the Disney Dance and Play show ;)! ... and really fun rope drops (yes, we'll ride It's A Small World even though Peter Pan will get really long later....).
I wish all the characters on the boat at Fantasmic were just constantly roaming around the parks all day. They need more side kicks and Villains at Disney for us to meet. It would be cool if they came up with a land for villains and a land for side kicks.
Villains land it’s supposed to be coming to MK. But u know how it is. It may happen 10 years from now 😅
I will say the biggest risk here is saving RotR for last at the end of the night. With it's high break-down rate, there's a decent enough chance it will be down for the night. I'd probably try to ride it in the morning, and then come back to it in the evening if it breaks down on your first attempt (if you really want to ride it).
As someone who is from the UK and would be travelling with small humans, I’m very pleased to see you can still have a good day without genie+ as it wouldn’t be something I’d be able to budget for! I hope you’re doing this for all the parks AllEars???!

question about genie + , do you pay that base price a single time, or is it , for example if it is 15 that day, is it 15 per person in your party
You pay for it each day and for each person. So if it's $35 and you're there with 3 other people you have to pay $140 for one day and that's in addition to your regular park ticket.
Is it possible to ride Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror and Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway without Genie Plus if you park-hop to Hollywood Studios in the afternoon?
That's the only reason I would buy Genie Plus for those rides. I heard that wait times will be lower if I go during Fantasmic, but I definitely don't want to miss that show!
Sage, I also have a Fantasmic dining package with Sci-Fi. What desserts would you recommend? The Out-of-this-World sounds delicious, but I would love to hear what desserts are really good!
If you only want to do those three rides, you can definitely do them in the 5-6 hours you would have from the 2 pm park hopping entrance time and the 8 or 9 pm Fantasmic show time. However, keep in mind all three of these have outdoor (or mostly outdoor) queues, so you could be really hot while waiting about an hour (or two or really busy days or Tower is only running half the elevators) for each.
This is impressive, Studios is the hardest park to hit all the big hitter attractions in even with Genie+!

What to do if my phone dies and wont recharge?
What happens if you buy an individual lightning lane and the ride goes down?
You can:
-come back when it opens back up at anytime
-go to a CM support kiosk and request a refund
-go to a CM support desk and request a lightening lane for a different ride (ILL or non but has to be in same park)
Just be kind when asking.

Great video, Sage! I disagree, though, about it being more stressful without Genie. I definitely think using Genie is waaaaayy more stressful. The constant checking your phone, fretting over what ride is available to book, always watching the clock to see when your next ride time is.
So Genie+ is 35$ a day now?
Sadly, yes, for the past two weeks or so. The new highest price per day for Genie + is $35. :(

Family of 6 X $35 each for Genie+ = $210 dollars. Nope. I've done the parks without Genie+ during a relatively busy time and didn't miss using it at all. Personally, I think its a ripoff. Just plan to react accordingly based on the tip boards.
Actually you forgot tax...it is really about $225 for that family of 6. Yes, you are correct, at that price is really is a rip off. A lot of people have compared it to Universal Orlando saying it is a lot cheaper than their Express Pass, but I'm willing to do that sometimes since those are not time or crowd dependent. If you want to ride the attraction you are walking by, get in the express pass queue. No need to schedule a 1 hour time return and no worry about the time returns not being available for the rest of the day, like you see with Slinky Dog Dash and other popular rides. I have seen a family pay for 4 people to get the Genie Plus and only get 1 great ride at 7 am and two more ok rides afterwards. The day they went, after they waited the two hours after park open, they got a lightning lane for millennium falcon, then after riding that, could only get Alien Swirling Saucers or Muppets 3d! Waste of money!
How are you checking wait times???? Using MDE? Is that cheating???
For these challenges we can use the free genie version! So checking wait times is okay!
